Indeed they are. But this is one of the unfortunate negatives of Brexit that nobody foresaw. A lot of the present cabinet, cut their political teeth during the Brexit campaign, during which, they saw that a campaign of blatant lying, not only didn't result in any negative consequence for the perpetrators but it also delivered a win.
And they now believe that you can successfully run a country using the same tactics, using three word slogans and telling complete untruths ... you can't.
Of course in the past, politicians have distorted the truth and twisted statistics to suit their agenda but since Brexit, we now live in an age where just making up any old shit, has apparently, become perfectly acceptable.
I disagree with the Brexit part. There was always a debate and opinions (regardless of what view was taken) were challenged. IMO covid allowed this lot to run riot as neither the opposition or the media ever questioned what was going on. Brexit was lie after lie after lie from the leave campaign, versus gloomy prediction after gloomy prediction after gloomy prediction from remain. The lies were lies so were and still are untrue. The gloomy predictions got the trends right but were exaggerated. Now is it any surprise that a PM was guilty of lying to Parliament repeatedly. Particularly as he was the biggest liar of the lot in the leave campaign. The tories have lowered the bar so far. While labour are not exempt either, they are just at the normal level of lies and misrepresentation. The tories are full on bullshitting us with almost everything they say. Hopefully at the election they are punished for it.

"Sunak" Proposed smoking ban for anyone under 14.Therefore anyone under 14 will never be allowed to smoke legally. Haha. Conservatives are supposed to be all about reduced government intervention etc and they want to ban choices for education and lifestyle. Something doesn’t add up there. Personally, I couldn’t care less about smoking one way or another. Though, I don’t see why he should stop there. There are no health benefits to alcohol or McDonald’s. Perhaps they should be ousted as well. Making both Maths and English mandatory until 18 seems odd though. At A-level, you typically make 4 choices to decide what to learn. Now you will only have 2? Or will they reduce expectation and increase the number of classes?

Braverman will appeal to the Conservative Party members who love to hear 'tough on immigration' rhetoric. Immigration is a necessity though - without an expanding tax base, the Ponzi scheme state pension doesn't work so it's a choice of import workers, persuade people to have more children (obviously a medium term goal) or raise pension age and/or cut it. Nobody will of course grasp the aging population nettle though as it's a vote loser.

I imagine that this is just saying that any people who decide on A-Levels will need to take these two. It’s a great way to take away people’s interest in education and push them down a low paid apprenticeship route. I took Maths, Bio, Chem and History for my A-Levels. I would have been heartbroken not to have taken my History. It was the one class at the time that I actually loved (the rest were career choices).

That feels about right to me. I seem to recall it happening roughly when I left the UK, which was in 2016.

This shows just how much they 'care' about the North, either they don't even realise that this was actually built 10 years ago, or they think that we're all so fuckin thick, that they can get away with promising us something that we already have.

The wind of change which allows small boats to cross the channel is a mere gust compared to the hurricane of immigrants welcomed through the front door by the Tories.
Because today, the option of moving from a poorer country to a richer one is not just a dream for billions of people, it is an entirely realistic prospect
