Hi mate. Always up for a challenge. For what it’s worth I’m not interested in the politics more about the ethics. - With the likes of toilets, changing rooms etc for pre op trans to have their own facilities. Females should not have to worry about pre op transgender females being in what is an intimate area whilst getting changed. (I don’t remember this being historically an issue. Correct me if I’m wrong but it all seems very recent / here and now). - For women's sport to remain female only. (contrary to what people keep saying this isn’t a 13 year problem or something that has a whole load of history unless someone would like to show me otherwise. Maybe you can show me some proof otherwise). Is this right? The way forwards? - For the very young to be allowed to grow up naturally without being told what they should or shouldn’t be in relation to there gender and for hormone treatment to never take place before the age of 18. What are your thoughts re these? m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=539450991680808&id=100068477350360and this Changing rooms in many places have been for whoever wants to use them for years. There didn't need to be a check if someone has a penis first. I’ve never been to a gym with unisex changing rooms nor an office. That said Schools are now going down the route of having M / F and unisex.

What do right wing people actually want done about trans people though? What reforms do you want? What are the current Conservative government with their majority doing about the "trans issues" that labour wouldn't? I've not read the last few pages but when I've read in the past the only thing I see coming up is "but can they define a woman". So is that it? You want a certain definition for trans people? Or what do you want? And why are you confident that the tories will do what you need seeing as they haven't yet done it with their commons majoirty where they could easily pass any bill on trans they want? Does it not concern you that they've not yet actioned these problems they could very easily action? Cobham? Bianca? Please explain because I don't know what it is you actually want done on trans issues? And whatever it is... Why haven't the tories done it in 13 years? Obviously this appears to be a high priority issue for some of you. So I'm genuinely intrigued by the topic and excited for the debate. What are your thoughts re these? m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=539450991680808&id=100068477350360and this The toilet issue I can understand. Not just for females but even men with young girls who use public toilets. And if it is something which worries alot of people then I don't oppose changes there myself. With regards to sport I agree from a competitive pov in 99% of instances. However from a amateur perspective I think the rules could be relaxed in some instances or at least be up to the sporting or local competition boards to decide and have the power. Or even open up some leagues to be inclusive for all man/woman/trans. Would be good for me as I'm unfit as fuck so playing in a football league with mixed gender may be about my level now haha. In terms of young children I think there will need to be some form of education there because I imagine we may have a generation of trans people with kids coming through. And with it being more prominent it can't just be ignored. With that said though I don't think young kids should be changing gender at a very young age and there should be some age restrictions. What is the right age or amount of education I don't know and as I don't work with kids I'm probably not educated enough to know what's right here. I've not watched the vids BTW as my phone sound doesn't work without headphones and I have none handy to me right now. One other thing though is sometimes I see a bit of backlash about drag acts in schools. I'm not sure if it's the stuff some have said or done. But for me that's not such a big deal. I remember seeing drag acts at pantomimes and on some TV shows back in the 90s and it was funny. And as such I don't have an issue with drag acts being in schools reading stories or whatever.

Why do things always have to be so black and white? Just because you might might have certain thoughts on transgender it doesn’t mean you’ll have the same thoughts about what is completely different like the RNLI who do a great job. That’s just plain silly. It’s like saying because you like footy you automatically like tennis. The problem with some people is they think you have to be one thing or another never somewhere in between. I think you put your point across very well though.

You make a very valid point re the Tories of the past 13 years. They've allowed wokery to thrive and have done bugger all to address the threats posed towards actual women by the trans community and hostile supporters of the trans community. There are countless things that can be done. For a start, scrap gender neutral toilets, sanction all companies mandating he/she/xi/zi pronouns in the workplace and start mandating that all NHS workers respectfully refer to women as women. The erasure and bizarre descriptive language being used towards women in the NHS has become increasingly concerning - With the sole purpose of appeasing a tiny minority of hostile supporters of the trans community. Surely these three perfectly reasonable changes can be implemented swiftly and would send a very clear signal that women are women and men are men. All the operations in the world do not change that. Should we have sympathy for those who feel deeply lost, sexually confused or that they were born in the wrong body? Of course. It is a tragic situation and they deserve varying levels of support. Should we change our language for them and defy Science? Absolutely not, in my opinion. Maybe we should have a referendum on the subject? Throw in a net zero referendum for good measure? I suspect the results would be emphatic. 😏 I've never seen a gender neutral toilet. Is this one that basically any sex can use? So a biological man and woman in same bathroom? Wouldn't personally bother me if removed. What about those who converted? So say a man who's had his willy chopped off and made into some bionic vagina and looks female. Do they use the mens or the women's? Or should disabled toilets or something accommodate such people? Whatever happens doesn't particularly bother me there personally. Don't get the whole he/she stuff either. What's wrong with a classic name badge and being called whatever is on it. Surely much easier for all. If someone wants to use it then fair play go ahead but it shouldn't be mandated or enforced on all. So what do you want? Woman/Man/TransMan/TransWoman for example which covers sort of all 4? And this is only from a NHS setting? So in non biological settings such a bank would you be OK with just man/woman? Or should all 4 be used in all settings? Again doesn't bother me either way and of course a trans person shouldn't be seen as just a woman in a nhs setting. I don't know enough about trans surgery but I presume most trans women still have a prostate? Something women don't have so they will need go be treated differently in instances. In my opinion I think certain media outlets try to make out if your left wing that you've got some sort of obsession with trans rights and pronouns. But I think alot of left wing people don't really have any strong opinions or thoughts on it. For me it's not a big priority at the minute. And if it is a Conservative priority then why aren't the addressing it is what I ask. We didn't have gender neutral toilets, pronoun obsessions or woman definition debates under the last labour government. So this is where I personally get confused because all this erupted under tory power and maybe not all of it but at least some of it could be addressed by them and hasn't been. As for labour though historically being more left. I can understand why this may concern you because if the tories have allowed all this to erupt then you'd assume the historically more "inclusive" left wing will allow it to get worse. Such as that stuff that happened in Scotland with the trans prisoner. These are just my own views. Maybe for other left wing people on the forum they see trans stuff as a top priority. But for me I just find other issues more concerning right now as they impact me more. Which I guess is maybe a selfish pov but yeh. Agreed re points 1 and 2. Re point 3, I just want them to not erase the word women and refer to women as women and men as men. In any serious setting (ie a hospital) men and women should be referred to as their actual sex, not the sex they want to be referred to. I think that's a reasonable ask. By all means call the trans male or female by the name they now identify as, but not gender. That's where things start getting a bit bonkers and frankly, dangerous.

Btw Gawa, i admire your optimism and would love for it to live up to your "exciting debate" but I think that may be a stretch 😊 Necessary, yes. Exciting? Probably not. I enjoy discussing the nitty gritty details tbh. I think finding common ground somewhere is the best way to get a solution. May not be the one which everyone wants but it's the only way to move forward from such issues. I know I consider myself a bit of a socialist/Marxist with some of my opinions and that I'm far ledf but there are certain things where I probably have more a right wing view too. Or one which would be considered right wing. One topic which has came up recently is gollywogs. Now personally I do think the man from that bar is maybe putting them all up to try and get a reaction more than anything. But. My aunty has a golliwog doll and she's in her 60s. Similarly my disabled neighbour that I help has a golliwog in her house too. In my opinion I don't see either as racist for owning one. Back in their day kids didn't get alot of presents and a golliwog to them was simply a toy/doll and innocent. Not something which they got because they were racist. And thus I don't see a problem with people from this generation keeping their golliwogs because it is a treasured item from their childhood. And I can see why it may upset some being called racist for simply owning something their parents or family bought them as young children. With the above said though I wouldn't buy a golliwog for a child today simply because of the racial connotations. But I'd love to get to a point at some stage where people can recognise that there can be a grey area on certain things and not everything is necessarily racist. I actually blackfaced at a bb display as a teenager for a Jackson 5 sketch. It wasn't done to take the piss or mock black people in anyway. It's just back then it wasn't seen as racist and it would be great to get to a point where there is more understanding on all sides and less labels. With respect Gawa you need to do a bit more research on the subject and when you have maybe you could educate your Aunty and your Disabled neighbour. The Golliwogg "Character" first appeared in a Book by Florence Kate Upton. The Golliwog Character in the Book was a grotesque caricature. Latterly from the 1940s as more Immigrants came to UK it was foreshortened to Wog and used as a Racist Slur indiscriminately against anyone who wasn't white Eventually Robinson's dropped the caricature from its Jam advertising under intense pressure Infamously during a recording of the One Show in 2009 Carol Thatcher exploded a series of Wog related tirades against the French Tennis Player Jo Wilfried Tsonga for some inexplicable reason The show was never aired nor did Carol ever appear again You might also want to reflect on your own decision to "Blackface" It's origins date back almost 200 years and to the "Minstrel Shows" where White Actors would don tattered clothing to mimic enslaved Africans on Southern Plantations and parody them as lazy, ignorent, criminal, cowardly and hypersexual. It was intended and was funny to White Audiences but it wasn't then nor now funny to Black people. One of the most successful Actors of the time was a chap called Thomas Dartmouth Rice who ran a travelling Minstrel Show with his character "Jim Crow". Jim Crow Laws were laws enacted in the Southern States to enforce Racial Segregation and is in itself a Pejorative Term for a Black American. The Jim Crow Laws weren't repealed until the 1960s To their eternal shame the BBC ran a very successful, among white people, Prime Time "Variety Show" on Sunday Nights called The Black and White Minstrels for 20 years between 1958/1978 It is credited with reinforcing Racial Prejudice and Stereotyping in UK I personally don't accept the theory it was of its time. There was clear intent to reduce Black people to ridicule and portray as sub human

Same reason they don't really want to stop the boats or tackle illegal immigration. They know that the hard of thinking are much more likely to respond well electorally to tough sounding words on immigration and trans/woke bullshit, and having someone to demonise, than they are about anything actually being done about it! Why would you do anything about something that has such miniscule impact on 99% of the population? Just use it to trigger people. Some folk are so easily played. Apart from Covid, of course, when they could see right through what all governments around the world were jointly up to!

There was clear intent to reduce Black people to ridicule and portray as sub human The black face wasn't exactly my idea mate. It was the boys brigade which asked me to do it lol because back then, particularly in less diverse Northern Ireland, it wasn't known to be this super offensive thing. Sure how many TV sketches had it too. As well as the other way round in movies like white chicks too. Again not something I'd do today but back then we didn't know better and it wasn't done to laugh or mock black people. It was just like if we did a Queen thing and someone dressed as Freddie Mercury. Also it was just a bit of fake tan.. Not sure if that makes it better or worse lol. But like I said, we didn't know better and it's not something I'd do today. And again with the golliwogs I understand the issues today and that it may offend some which is why I'd never buy one.. Well along with the fact I don't play with dolls haha. But I think it's stuff like this which cane sometimes drive people the wrong direction and make divides. And I'm not saying shops should start selling golliwogs. I just mean that I think most kids when they received them didn't know better and it was just a doll to them. I've probably slightly dug myself in a hole here. But I guess what I'm trying to say is that not everything which is intereperted by some as racist is intended to be racist and alot of it is just from ignorance and not knowing better. I wouldn't personally do those things today but I'm not going to judge people as racist based on being gifted a golliwog 50 years ago or for doing black face in the 90s. Because for many they didn't know it was racist (or at least in my instance I was unaware).

That's the thing that makes me laugh at these people so energised and enraged about the whole trans/woke nonsense. Pages and pages of comment about something that has so little impact on their lives, yet barely a peep about healthcare, education, transport, environment etc, the stuff that will actually affect them. You can only wonder why. Almost as if they're being encouraged away from thinking about the genuinely important stuff in favour of a convenient, yet largely irrelevant, distraction! I guess for people who don't follow the news or politics the ignorance is understandable but for those who do, it is a bit weird, especially in light of their Covid bullshit detecting ability.

It's also a credit to those involved (one or two of the usual suspects aside) that it was discussed in a way whereby someone wasn't banned for abuse - That's progress! Let's be honest, discussing all things woke makes a pleasant, comparitively uplifting change to most of the depressing, unopposed one way barrage of Liberal left re-tweeting on this thread.☺️

I’ve never been to a gym with unisex changing rooms? Nor an office with unisex toilets. That said Schools are now going down the route of having M / F and unisex. Like a disabled toilet? I was thinking the other day that part of the problem is our historical obsession with male/female able/disabled black/brown/white designed by the patriarchy and ruling class. How many actual laws or places or anything else would just be better if we simply focused on the "person" instead? Instead we need "accessible toilets" rather than just toilets (that are accessible) and "gender pay gap" rather than just giving everyone the same rights and pay. We need a bit of a "clear out" of some outdated ideas, my children have no such distinctions. Hopefully it will all even out and fade away in the next few generations as the generations die off. It does make me think that those that wish to keep pushing the point are looking for any distraction from the things that matter to all "persons".

It seems a rather unimportant and largely population-unaffecting distraction away from the stuff that actually will affect most people's lives, but I guess it's all about individuals' priorities and what matters to them!

If you'd actually read the last few pages you'd see that some of those subjects had been raised but more importantly the reason the debate around trans has continued is because posters have asked questions and then said questions have been answered - it's called a debate, it doesn't mean we have to agree. Much better than tit for tat. Progress. Indeed mate. There is always more in common than we think 😊

Seems to me (having read the last few pages), that it's a small group of usual suspects playing the part of the oatcake police and belittling others just because they deem a topic to be of little importance to them. It's quite simple really, if you don't find it of interest then don't reply to it, debate it, or repeatedly keep bringing it up. There are indeed more important things to discuss than fixating on one poster mentioning trans issues 3 pages back.

Intrigued to know if people have actually met and chatted to some trans folk in the real life? My nephew was my niece. I guess the problem most folk have with trans people is the opposite change though.

The post above about drag acts was interesting. Drag acts were on the whole were seen in entertainment venues to provide abit of risqué comedy in an adult environment. Their were a few well known ones around here I simply don't see how putting them into schools etc ( mainly US ) has anywhere near the same effect. They have been put there for an ideological reason and now they have kids drag acts.
We as humans are controlled by nature. Its the driving force of who we are and it operates for a reason. It has ways of being the great leveller. One such phenomenon was the significant increase in male births during and after wars. Coincidence or nature levelling up.
What I'm trying to say is. Mess with nature and you are messing with your own existence and their will only be one winner and it wont be us.
