One of the 1922 needs to come out and be honest about the car crash it has been with Truss and Kwarteng and call for them to leave. Sometimes it’s better just to cut the losses early on than try and persevere. Feels a bit like us with Nathan Jones… … but he even had god on his side… 'Come out and be honest' 😅 More chance of us winning the F.A. Cup. There is but it would certainly get them some votes back.

Just stuck £25 on that. It would have been a lot more if it did actually say GONE this year but 'replaced' would suggest it pays out at the end of a leadership contest, unless I'm interpreting it incorrectly.

Yeah, could be an issue. Although you'd think they'd have to have a very truncated contest, probably cutting out the membership completely if they could. So 10 or 11 weeks still seems a long time if they could have some kind of coronation. Hard to see who would fit the bill for them though

Sam Coates suggesting that enough Tory MPs could feasibly vote against her in a confidence motion to trigger an election if they can't come up with a unity candidate to take over.

Sam Coates suggesting that enough Tory MPs could feasibly vote against her in a confidence motion to trigger an election if they can't come up with a unity candidate to take over. I think we are now approaching the stage where a considerable amount of the Parliamentary Conservsative Party will have their best interests served better with Starmer than their own leader. That ex-Tory donor last week won't be the first to flip.

Absolutely nailed it and why we are where we are
Sadly there are some, even on this MB, who are wedded to this crass idealogy which was never going to become a reality. "Global Britain " is rightly being ridiculed around the world for its own act of self harming

The Minister for The Workhouse has been out 'reassuring' the markets again. 🙄 Operation undermine the OBR already in place. They are willing to drive off the cliff without even tapping the break it would seem. So he's essentially saying to the OBR, report what we want you to report or we'll fire you? Who the fuck do they think they are? Did exactly the same years ago when the scientific analysis of all drugs, legal and illegal, didn't meet with what they required to support their policies. So they sacked the guy, their Chief Scientist, that they'd asked to carry out the report David Nutt because he basically refused to change the report on the analysis to suit their needs. Fucking outrageous.

What I can see happening is a lot of our youth taking advantage of the 2 year work visa options available from places like Canada and Australia and not coming back.

I was chatting with a lady yesterday who has a friend who was awarded and MBE and went to the Palace where the then Prince Charles was handing out the gongs. She was one of hundreds and when it came to her turn Charles went into conversation with her asking very relevant questions; he had clearly been well briefed and remembered all she had done to achieve the award. The lady in question was not a fan of royalty or Charles, but it was a game changing experience and he and royalty went up hugely in her estimation.

Why would the Conservative party with an 80 seat majority call an election they would lose? It literally makes zero sense.

Why would the Conservative party with an 80 seat majority call an election they would lose? It literally makes zero sense. To play devil's advocate : perhaps to minimise the scale of defeat? If they think it's going to get worse/significantly worse they may end up with a landslide defeat Just a theory, would imagine they will change leader/PM again first gambling that they will get an upturn
