Have you ever been to Richmond in Yorkshire? One of the wealthiest towns in the region. Rishi Sunak’s constituency. It is being prioritised for this funding I haven't but considering he has a 23k majority and its one of the safest tory seats in the country I don't think they need to buy votes..... He doesn’t. He is being corrupt.

This board is utterly hilarious and as predicted, the real key workers coming out of the pandemic are exactly the same as the ones going into it. The bankers, the speculators, hedge fund managers. If you're a nurse take your sickening, cynical, clap and shut your traps. Surely nobody is surprised by this slap in the face for the very people who kept Johnson alive? It was always going to be the case that a nice weekly clap on the doorstep made people feel they'd done their bit for the NHS, no need to fund it properly, or actually do anything substantive for nurses. And heaven forbid we might contribute a bit more in taxes to this end! I mean, we can find £400bn just like that when we need it, waste over £22 billion on a failed track and trace system "run" by govt cronies with track records of failure. But a payrise which reflects their "key worker" status? Naah! Amazing how little of a shit people give about actually doing the right thing by others in this country. Maybe a nice round of applause counts these days! Remember the magic money tree the Tories accused labour of using looks like the Tories have found it and feathering their own nest with it

This Nadine Dorries.

And you decided that after looking into how the scheme works, you will of course be aware that councils had to make applications / submit plans for what they wanted to spend the money on, if your council can't be arsed or didn't submit a good enough plan they didn't get any money look forward too all these labour run councils complaining they didnt get the money for gender neutral toilets.

It should be based on need. Instead it is based on having a tory MP, preferably a minister.

There are many tory areas poorer than Richmond in Yorkshire. Stop trying to defend the indefensible. If the tories had a policy of killing all stoke fans you would back it. Blind faith.

Does that form the basis of some sort of defence? Just stating a fact fella. It's clear that the occupation/vocation is currently desirable for many. I would personally like to see them get a bigger rise but in the context of this pandemic a pay rise of any description is more than most are getting. Good job the applications are up because all of the current ones will be quitting!

You are Straw bollocking again (a unique skill you seem to have to combine straw manning and talking bollocks). The money is for spending on towns / town centres, any town can apply its never been claimed to be allocated to poorest areas first, its for local councils to apply for and make a case for.

I have absolutely no idea what straw bollocking is!? So it is completely open to corruption then. It isn’t based on need. You apply, and the tories decide where the money goes. More cronyism.

Got to agree this 1% pay rise offer to nurses reeks of Government incompetence. It is so fucking stupid. I agree. It's quite odd when you think about it. Imagine the goodwill and general public agreement that would have been achieved by a payrise of say 3.5%. Significantly more than anyone else has achieved over the last decade, but nothing extraordinary and unaffordable about that. And it could have been directly linked to the NHS and nursing response to the pandemic. And made clear it was a one-off deal in recognition of their efforts, which didn't necessarily set a precedent for other public sector workers. I can't believe anyone would have argued against it. It's almost like they've done it deliberately purely to have a fight with the Unions? Struggling to think of another reason for shitting so publicly on the nurses?
