So in essence, NHS have been the only ones to get anything? Albeit a paltry 1%. From what I can see the 1% is what the government has suggested they be given What they may get will be decided by the independent review body

What did you expect realistically? What did the Nurses etc expect? Better. Much, much, better. A cynical, shitty, clap on a Thursday is what they actually got. My Mrs works as a nurse for NHS and has worked very hard all the way through. She’s not got a problem with it, citing there are millions of people who are now jobless or have very uncertain futures. I get we all think they deserve more and they do. Perhaps there will be a rethink. It wouldn’t be the first U turn would it. I just think, hang fire, let’s see if public opinion sways the government into an improved offer. It’s not over, it’s up to the NHS to make a stand if they want to.

Thought Cummings had been let go? Is that a 50% rise on his "keep your gob shut" payment or is he actually doing something?

Disgusting from Sunak and Co. Boris should resign another GE should be held and give Starmmer a go at sorting this mess out if enough voters trust him and his Party of course.

Lest we forget the government's approach to hungry kids, seems their approach to "key workers" such as nurses is much the same...

Think instead of a national clap for the nurses we need a collective boo and make noise against this government eg borris out get these corrupt brds out etc

Nothing so all are getting in effect a real terms pay cut Which is a sacrifice I don’t mind making when there’s others out of work who’ve lost there jobs and are going through tougher times than me. I take a decent wage home so I’d rather make that sacrifice and lose 50 quid a month and have it go into the furlough scheme to keep people in work. Sometime you have to think of others than get all arsey about a small percentage off your wages. The government are shisters but sometimes you have to look beyond the hate and look at the financial mess the countries in.

That much mess that we can afford to spend a few million quid on a briefing room? I know it's a small amount in the grand scheme of things but it's the principle. The money is there if needed, it's just never been channelled in the right way.

The press will always highlight discrepancies depending on what party they favour and will actively look for something to dish the dirt. There are always going to be stupid decisions or mistakes made whatever parties in power it’s natural and get me wrong they’ve made a good few. Does that mean that we can’t rise above it and do our bit. I guess we’re all different. As a country we’ll never pull together when there’s so much division between the 2 main parties.

Longer school days, shorter summer holidays and five-term years all under consideration, says education secretary so not only do teachers have an actual real terms pay cut they also have to work longer have less time off to recover and have to put themselves at risk
thankyou yet again from a tory government who on the one hand say they appreciate there work of the public sector then say sod off we want to abuse your good nature for our political aims .

They won’t be able to alter the contacted annual hours though surely? The 1265 hours over 195 days. Presumably, anything extra will be paid as overtime and be voluntary.

Could it be that somewhere in the middle between the Guardian and the Mail is the truth.
