Several aspects to this. First, wasn't it his own lawyers who handed over the diaries to the police? His own lawyers. Who should know, better than anyone, whether the material is worthy of investigation or not. Second, I found it telling that he was most upset that it wasn't discussed with him first! Why? So potentially damaging material could be accidentally deleted like so many of the Downing St records and Whatsapp messages were? Third, he's already been convicted of breaking the law and he still insists that no rule-breaking went on. He's been found to have done just that! (Same as our current PM incidentally). Fourth, despite his taking ages to come up with an attempt at an explanation and then regurgitating the usual "no rules broken, absolute nonsense, it's a stitch-up" there are probably people who still think he's fit to rule the country I don't get why he's even there. Of course it's for money, but who is he now to be discussing the Ukraine situation. Money for one, speaking engagements are no doubt very lucrative. Second, he clearly doesn't see his political career as being over and wants to remain in the limelight with a view to a return at some point. I think Truss sees herself in the same light.

And that's the arrogance of the man, if he doesn't believe his political career is over, why doesn't he currently perform any of his duties as a sitting MP? He never turns up to the HOC and he never shows his face in his constituency. Indeed he's behaving exactly like an man whose political career IS over!

What the flying fuck is going on here?
The Tories have made it a damn site harder for ordinary people to get legal aid and you don't get to sack and then cherry pick new representation on a whim.
But somehow, it's perfectly fine for Johnson (a multi millionaire) to do exactly that!
Just what type of country are we living in?

Yup, they even think we should pay their driving fines. A party corrupt from top to bottom ... www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/driving-fines-mps-expenses-suella-braverman-b2346625.htmlA Tory minister who served under Suella Braverman at the Home Office is among high-profile MPs to have wrongly claimed hundreds of pounds in driving fines on expenses, The Independent can reveal.

Johnson is a self obsessed pain in the arse who considers himself to be above the law. He is a back bench MP now, why is he meeting all these leaders as if he is still PM? Who is funding it? Why isn't old lily liver Sunak putting him straight and intervening, by telling him to do his day job? Why is he never in the HOC? He is a liar, proven, money is his God. Yet some of his constituents still back him! Even if they never see him. Horrible horrible man.
And Truss is following in a similar vein.

I know I criticise the BBC alot. But this is weird language used in my opinion.
Why does everyone have the party theyre associated with listed aside from tory Amanda Solloway who is down as government minister.
A decision was made when writing that to not include it.

Ministers in bitter fight to halt release of Covid secrets.
Ministers have just days to decide whether to take the extraordinary step of launching legal action against the Covid enquiry, as part of their battle to keep secret a slew of sensitive messages from senior figures including Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak.
With just 48 hours remaining before the deadline to hand over unredacted messages and notes between Johnson and his ministers, the government is this week standing firm in its refusal to divulge the material.
One can only wonder why. So much for Sunak's promise to allow the public enquiry to get on with its work without interference.

I guess they assumed that if she was described as a government minister, then it would be obvious which party she belonged to. Whereas the other three, aren't government ministers and as such, needed to be identified as to which party they belonged to.

Sadly we're a huge part of the problem. Too much wailing and gnashing of teeth on the internet and social media and nothing else. If this was France they wouldn't stand for it and would take to the streets. Us? We just moan and carry on paying it.

Credit where it's due, an awful lot of work goes into making British people like that: the papers, the government, the establishment. There'll be a slew of front page pictures of Kate helping out at a foodbank soon enough to reassure us all is well and let us all know our place.

a day of reckoning will arrive one day, and i think it will cause a total implosion of our current political system.
these pricks have bled us dry in our darkest moments, and our now trying to prevent us from knowing about it.

Don't the Cabinet Office diaries belong to the nation? The state called for an inquiry and then takes itself to court to stop access to the data or am I being too simplistic?
