If Sunak does not sack Braverman today it will show just how weak his position as leader of the rag bag of factions that the Tory party has become is. Braverman’s rant yesterday at an event organised by an American organisation called the Burke’s Foundation (you just cannot make this stuff up!) made no sense on any level and it was supposed to be her opening bid to replace Sunak as leader. John Crace in the Guardian nailed it as usual: “There were two brief interruptions for Extinction Rebellion protests which Braverman declared to be auditions for the shadow cabinet. Never a truer word and all that. This wasn’t so much a speech as a leadership bid for a party in opposition.”

It is not illegal to earn vast amounts of money, whether it is ethically correct is a different discussion The principle of having access to legal representation and a fair trial is equally sound. Where the system breaks down is where vast wealth has been accumulated via illegal means and is then used to buy Political influence and access as is the case of this chap Javid Marandi OBE huge Donations to the Conservative Party. To gain further respectability it's also a good idea to chuck some money at The Royals as Marandi also donated to The Royal Foundation with Prince and Princess of Wales as The Patrons. The art of gorging at the trough and remain at liberty is to spread some of the ill-gotten gains around to whitewash where the money has come from. Unluckily and unusually Marandi became embroiled in a National Crime Agency Investigation for money laundering but again wisely using his vast wealth engaged the eminent KC Lord Pannick to represent him. You may recall Pannick represented Shamima Begum in her recent troubles (I assume Pro Bono) he would have been referred to in Media and by Conservative Racist's e.g. Suella Braverman as "a lefty lawyer " (Well de does live in Islington) More recently Pannick represented Bozo during his interrogation in front of the House of Commons Select Committee. Pannick at this hearing was portrayed, justifiably, as a wise Council, despite his frequent looks of incredulity at some of Bozo's answers. Other luminaries Pannick has represented include Max Moseley and Phillip Greene.Pannick and Marandi's team of Lawyers have managed to frustrate and injunct BBC and Standard for the last three years from reporting his case. The point of my ramblings is that in contrast if a mother in desperation steals a milk formula to feed her baby due to poverty and is apprehended she would be subject to swift justice and very possibly jail time. I suppose we have moved on as in a previous life she would have been sent to the Penal Colonies. The fundamental point is that if you have accumulated vast wealth by whatever means you can insulate yourself from any serious disruption to your lifestyle and in fact become part of The Establishment The concept of equality before the Law is a Cruel Joke.

You could say something similar about access to education and healthcare. Which is why some might argue that whilst the ethics of earning vast amounts of money is a question (rightly) of the source, it is also very much a question of what is done with that money. Some might go further and also argue that it is not hyprocrisy for a socialist to accumulate wealth (which is almost invariably the knee-jerk response of the Right - for obvious reasons). Far from it. It's his/her duty to do so.

It's why we need to clamp down on immigration and benefits scroungers. They all come over here to just sit on their hole and steal baby milk. At least Suella is gonna sort it all when the boats are stopped. Already got a round the world cruise eyed up for when she sorts it as we will all be laughing to the bank.

On a different tack we are fortunate enough to be on a break in the Basque Country at the moment. Like on trips last year to France and Italy we have noticed how compared to the UK there is a significant lack of potholes and litter on roads, just saying.

When I was a lad cheese was a luxury. Problem back then is people, particularly women, were just far too lazy and wanted to lounge around all day doing nothing. Was rare to have 2 parents out working. And if they were they weren't both in full time work. Had people had a bit more work ethic and cancelled their newspaper subscriptions and drunk less then cheese wouldn't have been seen as a luxury.

"Sorry officer, I'm afraid I never saw a thing........" tbh baby milk as always been stolen quiet often in retail..eastern Europeans have always targeted it I can confirm this. It's the reason my Dad came to the UK from E Europe in the first place. He never paid for baby milk. As a result, I am half Eastern European. I only paid for 50% of the milk/formula my kids needed. If and when they have kids of their own, they will follow suit and pay for only 25%. It's in the genes.

Had people had a bit more work ethic and cancelled their newspaper subscriptions and drunk less then cheese wouldn't have been seen as a luxury. Should also add that they were all raging socialists back then too. Expecting the government to put them up in cheap social housing while they sat at home all day. Can't really complain about the price of cheese when unemployment was so high. Same goes for health care too. Everyone and their dog could pop down to the doctor any time of day and expect the tax payer to pay for it. Not these days. If you want that sort of health care you got to go private for it. And then don't get me started on the strikes either. Those lazy buggers were striking every other week lol. Wouldn't know a hard day's work if it smacked them in the face. Spent most of their days on picket lines expecting a living handed to them.
