Hindsight is a wonderful thing. I tend to agree though. Seems the squad are all trying to get him off the mark. He missed his last two and clearly isn't a penalty taker. Shaq should be taking our penalities. Hasn't he missed three in a row?

Shaq should be taking our penalities. No doubts about that at all. A pro footballer shouldn't ever really miss a penalty. I think the squad were just giving him a bump. Pity how it ended.

What the fuck has a thread been created got to do with a win? Berahino is absolutely dog shit, fact. Win or lose. You need to get a dictionary and look up the word "fact". Just my subjective opinion opinions aren't fact

On what evidence have you come to that conclusion ?, he can't even score from the feckin penalty spot. His movement is good. Something which we have lacked for many years! If he gets service he will score. His movement is none existent, that's his problem and why he doesn't create chances. Diouf struggles to hit a barn door at times but his movement and awareness is so much better than Bera.

I aint gonna kick the lad when he is having a tough time,in my opinion, once he starts scoring and getting along run in the team he will be fine. And for those keyboard warriors among, this board, if you hurl abuse at me because of my views. Instead of responding to individual abuse. my answer is written here just once.
'' I could not give a shit''

Saido didn't really do himself any favours by grabbing the ball and demanding that he took the penalty. This bullshit has been going on for far too long. We have a manager, we have a captain and we should have a designated penalty taker.
That should be Shaqiri. I'd have loved to have seen Saido bury that penalty, but you just knew he wasn't going to score.
The team is more important than any individual and every player has to recognise that. This isn't schoolboy shit, where the player who gets fouled HAS to take the penalty; precious points are up for grabs.
Berahino should be thanking his lucky stars that Crouch has saved his arse today.

What isn't is the abortion of a penalty he struck. It was like one of Walters'. If the keeper goes the right way then you're fooked. So poor. It's a shame Shawcross wasn't the captain today mind because it definitely would have been his fault for poor leadership if it was. 😂 😉

I watched from South Stand today. Saido did not have a meaningful chance. He never seems to make the right run (if at all) when we have the ball.
There was a clear channel and Shaq passed into it, but somehow Saido opted to run away from the channel. This led to Shaq remonstrating with him! After that Shaq seemed to think twice when an opportunity to pass to Saido presented itself.
Was happy to win the penno, but disappointed to see Saido lining up to take it. I thought, "if he misses this, he's finished" I may be mistaken but that was his only shot in target this season!!!

There must have been a designated penalty taker and there's no way it should be Berahino. Disgraceful management if there was wasn't. Either way, Fletcher should have stepped in, snatched the ball from Berahino and given it to Shaqiri.

ESPN stats on Bera: www.espnfc.com/player/151276/saido-berahino6 apprearances. 4 shots. 2 on target (including the penno) We can say what we like. Facts speak the loudest. 1 shot on target from open play in 6 games. At this rate, He would need 18 appearances for 12 shots, then we can say we've paid £1 million per shot...

It took a lot of guts, which I think was good to see. He didn't hide and that still offers hope. Because I really do think Hughes should go if Berahino fails. I'd want Choupo taking the penos not Shaq mind.

As much as anything else, he really doesn't need to have our supporters start really laying into him. He needs confidence, and lots of it.

I really don't think you could blame fans for laying into him though could you? We've been incredibly patient with him and at every turn he's failed. I like the bloke but he's had nothing but support from fans.

With the radio on I was desperately willing him to score that penalty....but deep down I knew he was going to fluff it, and for me that says it all. For whatever reason he's lost it somewhere along the line. I really don't think he's going to come good for us. I'm sorry, I really want him to, but....he can't even score a bloody penalty....where do you go from here? Plenty of great players have missed penos.

I fear Hughes will use the return of Jese after the international break to drop Saido once more, but this time probably for good.
He seems a decent enough lad who has really tried to recover his form at Stoke, but for one reason or another it simply hasn't worked out.
After today's god awful penalty, I am not sure where he, Hughes and the club go from here. We will not get close to our money back on current form, we cannot risk playing such an out of form striker every game in the hope it just clicks, yet there is surely that nagging memory of the goals he scored at the Baggies not so long ago - where has THAT player gone?
A sad state of affairs.
Our best striker is clearly also our best right wing back. The question is "where do we need him more?"

The boy needs our support fur sure , candidiasis I think he needs a goal he deserves sent need to think about so a penalty very dubious decision but he did a lot of pisitive things to day and neds a run in the team now until Xmas , not a game at Man City then dropping . I have decided to become Benji's personal interpreter and here it is... The boy needs our support for sure... WTF...He did a lot of positive things today and needs a run in the team now until Xmas, not a game against Man City then dropping. WTF = "candidiasis I think he needs a goal he deserves sent need to think about so a penalty very dubious decision but". Pure Gold, Benji...Pure Gold!

So what have we learned today?
Berahino is a schoolboy that hasn't scored for a day of continuous football and likes to play as a thrush keeper.
Nice.

Personally I would have twatted the penalty down the middle but it’s pot luck with pro goalies and penalties
If Forster had gone the other way and he’d scored we’d all be commending him on such a good penalty under the pressure so it’s a bit of a moot point
