If you're telling me that we looked better with Crouch on the pitch than berahino, then we'll have to put this argument down to watching different football games. You're missing the point. Crouch came on to score a goal, save two points and to hell with looking pretty. Job done. The point is, we were winning when Crouch came on, and we looked noticeably more like losing after he did. Job done, in part by Crouch (although we struggled when he came on) and in part by Saido, who linked play and won a penalty which he was unlucky not to score, as well as everyone else that played.

Did I say that ?, you stated Berahino is the best striker we have !, how many has he scored in all competitions since he joined us in January ?, a strikers job is scoring goals Crouch manages to score goals even when used as a sub, he won us two points today Berahino would have been no where near poking that home, Crouch and Diouf have the instinct and ability to take chances Berahino hides that is the difference. Strikers don't just play to score goals, they play to help the team. The team played far better with Saido than Crouch. How the fuck do you know where Saido would've been?? What a shite argument, in the same way, if Saido had been on, maybe we'd have had some pace up front to keep their back line deeper, and not conceded the equaliser in the first place. Ifs and buts.

I really want him to succeed but I thought he was awful today and I was crying out for crouch at HT. I thought him taking the pen was a good decision. Didn't work out and I thought from the boothen that it was a good save.

Agreed this is what one 'fan' said when we scored the second. 'Yes, get in Crouchy !!!!!!! Still our main man ! Probably covering up Hughes's inadequacies again.' You have to suspect that the only reason Hughes isn't starting Crouch is because it would be an admission that he's made another mistake in the transfer market. I agree Hughes is poor with money (QPR- admittedly not all his fault) but the reason Crouch doesnt start any more is down to his age

Watch the best strikers, when the opposition have the ball they're harassing them, giving them something to think about.Even when they aren't playing well they're working hard and defending from the front. Can anybody say that Berahino did that at any time today?Hes obviously desperately short of confidence, but working his bollocks off should be a given.Everyone on here was desperate for him to score the penalty, but who can say they stood there thinking he would?Crouch came on and gave they're defenders more to think about in five minutes than Saido did all game. His obvious lack of confidence is now completely shattered, which makes his decision to grab the penalty even more baffling.I just can't see him turning this situation around

The one he has this season got us 1 of our only 2 wins so far. He can run behind a defence and plays off the shoulder. I'm not sure you understand my point about the team playing better with Berahino on the pitch. With Saido on the pitch we were 1-0 up and very unlucky not to be 2-0 up. With Crouch on the field (i.e. discounting the first goal) we were very lucky to be at 1-1.

ok you keyboard warriors 1st thing berhainio won the penalty all of his team mates wanted him to take the pen inc shaq the fact he missed was down to low confidence as a stokie who actually goes to games he will allways have that backing from me.i hope he takes the next one i can never understand whythere is so much negativity on this board we havent been great today but won 3 points so lets celebrate ffs They've got to have something to moan about though haven't they. The ironic thing is I'm sure I just read a positive post about Berahino by Benji. ![B-|](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/GW5u7F6ZsL7YqNjCbXMk.gif)

Anyone who thought Bera had a good game today are watching through Stoke tinted glasses. He was woeful and should never have taken the penalty. He's low on confidence and penalty takers should be full of confidence. Not being wise after the event, everyone around me said the same BEFORE he took the penalty. Compare Shane Long with Bera, Long was making diagonal runs across the central defenders trying to create openings and attacking crosses into the box. Bera wasn't. We really need Bera to succeed but sadly I can't see anything to suggest he's anywhere near being the goalscorer we need.

He has to start either Crouch, Choupo-Moting or Diouf up front if he is to persist with a loan striker because they are strong enough to hold up the ball. Berahino is a poacher not a target man. So unless he plays Johnson on the right in place of Diouf or Ramadan in place of Choupo-Moting on the left, his only choice is Crouch. I wouldn't bother with Jesé until his personal problems are sorted out. Surely Jesé is the only loan striker 🤔

Why the fcuk would you discount the first goal ????, the manager bought him off why ???, he went to plan B Crouch which dictated the way we played once he made the change which is let's face it route 1 ! I expect this is why you think we played better with Berahino on, he rarely runs behind the defence preferring to mark a CB watch videos of the golden one for runs behind, Berahino could not lace his boots.

Because Crouch wasn't on the pitch when it was scored. That's the point i was making, how we played when each varying striker was on the pitch. The way we played once the change was made was utter shit! we sat back and couldn't get out of our half for most of it. Every hoof forward was stopped by Van Dijk (who barely let Crouch win one header), and then they came back at us again. I think we played better with Berahino on because we did, we looked dangerous and matched them, admittedly only after we changed to 4231 on around the 20/25 mins mark. Saido looked to make runs behind and he looked to come short to hold it up too, and whilst I'm not saying he was exceptional, he certainly wasn't 'hilariously shit'. Stein has nowt to do with anything.

A disgraceful thread. Stoke win. Berahino did well overall. He will come right. On what evidence have you come to that conclusion ?, he can't even score from the feckin penalty spot. His movement is good. Something which we have lacked for many years! If he gets service he will score.

Your telling me he's had no service in all this time? He's had service, and fluffed every chance he's ever had, even from fucking 8 yards out

I don't think I've wanted a Stoke player to succeed this bad in a while. His body language seemed a bit fake as soon as he got up? Looked a bit shaky, almost like fake confidence and he knew he had the responsibility to score. Hoping he gets something soon, he's already proved he can score goals, he's just going through a real tough drought.
