To be fair, I've addressed this on the other thread mate, it's a pity there's two running side by side. But it's important to also remember Zelenksys victory plan was agreed with the Democrats and had the same consequences. "Joint protection by the US and the EU of Ukraine's critical natural resources and joint use of their economic potential" Source - www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd0z8gg5v14oAnd from Republican senator, and trunp ally, Lindsay Grahams mouth: I don't know what trillions of dollars which could be great for our economy means aside from exactly that. Some would call it propoganda to question these imperialist motives even when it comes direct from the horses mouth and no other plausible explanation is given. The only benefit I can see from the reputational suicide of continuing with the Gaza genocide is that it seems to have provided a cloak over what's happening in Ukraine and critical thinkers like yourself and many others on this forum don't seem to scrutinise it in the slightest. I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. I just wish more people would try and do a bit of research on the history of Ukraine. Just as in the same manner we find it important to read about the history of Palestine before October 7th to get a better understanding of things. That doesn't make you "pro Russia" either just like it's possible to also be critical of hamas and the idf. It's not as black as white as seems in my opinion. What the US is doing is looking to recoup some of the money they are giving Ukraine to defend itself and Ukraine are more than happy to have that money. You can argue the US are looking out for themselves but what they are doing is motivated by economic self interest rather than Imperialasm. On the other hand what Russia is trying to do in Ukraine is textbook Imperialism - ask Zelensky and the Ukranian people who they'd rather do a deal with.

His conspiracy theories know no bounds. It would be funny but I'm genuinely worried about his state of mind if he actually believes it. He ain't the only one. Its quite sad. Particularly from people who laugh about the whole concept of conspiracy theories and tin foil hat right wing nutters. Tis called hypocrisy... No conspiracy mate. The whole thing was staged.

On the other hand what Russia is trying to do in Ukraine is textbook Imperialism - ask Zelensky and the Ukranian people who they'd rather do a deal with. How many military bases does Russia have in how many different countries compared to USA? How have Russia and NATO changed in size between 1980 and today? Well surely the best way to do that would be for any such deal to be voted for by the people of Ukraine? Or even the ability to do an election. The last time people in Donbas got to elect someone was over a decade ago and western backed protesters performed a coup and overthrew him. They haven't got to vote for anything since the leader they voted for was overthrown in a coup. So I agree the ukranian people should have a say and that means all of them. Not just kyiv. Anyway you can quotee/tag me in Russia thread if you want to continue this further. (I understand I was the one whontook it off topic)

I suspect your children's futures are already fucked You lefties would love that but unfortunately for you change is in the air. My kids will be fine 👍 Firstly, I'm not a "leftie". Not everyone who disagrees with your kind of Faragist dog whistle nonsense is. Difficult to grasp, I know. Secondly, you'll be amazed to learn that those of us who aren't Faragist goons are quite keen on seeing everyone's kids flourish, as this benefits the country as a whole. I suspect your influence on your own, however, is highly likely to be negative. Thirdly, change may well be in the air, albeit not in this country for another five years, by which time Tango in America may well be pushing up daisies, thoroughly disliked on all sides, or senile like Biden, who knows? And if it goes the way you hope it does, I doubt that lower intelligence, lower income earners will be flavour of the month for the Farage government, unless, of course, we're after recruits for some form of jackboot army by then, which shouldn't be ruled out

Trump is absolutely right about Nancy Pelosi. She's vile isn't she. A real nasty piece of work. Chucking sleepy Joe under a double-decker in her latest outburst. I don't know whether Trump is right about anything. It is generally the case the governments lose elections, rather than oppositions winning them. What is striking to me is Pelosi and other Democrats and their supporters in the UK still don't get why they they lost. They lost because they simply made personal attacks at Trump which may be largely true, but Trump not only made personal attacks, he also made clear promises to stop immigration, deport illegal immigrants, introduce tariffs, and above all " make America great again". It may have been all the usual politicians rhetoric but the American public bought into it. The UK had a similar situation in 2019. The Brexit referendum had been done over 3 years earlier but the country, government, establishment, media, etc. were still arguing the toss over it. Borus called another GE with the clear mantra to "Get Brexit done" and the people voted for an end of the issue and gave him a landslide victory with a majority of 80 seats. Afterwards people blamed Corbyn etc. but it was the clear message from Johnson that gave him his result. This year the UK public responded to Starmer's main message a "plan for change, for growth", although the main reason for the high majority was more the Tory vote being split 4 ways and the demise of the SNP.

Trump has convinced enough people to vote for him to "Make America Great Again" I have yet to hear from Trump when America was Great and when it stopped being Great. It remains to be seen whether he achieves his objectives but according to you/Trump there are a number of specific objectives which would determine whether America becomes Great Again "stop immigration, deport illegal immigrants, introduce tariffs" Let's see in a few years if the Electorate decides if Trump has "Made America Great Again" Boris had a more singular mantra to "Make Britain Great Again" by "Getting Brexit Done" Unlike Trump where the outcome is undecided the Jury is already in on whether Brexit "Made Britain Great Again" and it is a resounding no. That is why 5 year after Boris got a mandate to "Get Brexit Done" 64% now believe Brexit was a mistake. Rather than a mistake I view it as an aberration which can be corrected over time. The main reason for Labour's Electoral success was chronic mismanagement of the Economy by the Conservatives and poor decisions like Brexit which made people poorer and nobody votes for that. www.statista.com/statistics/987347/brexit-opinion-poll/

Both Boris and Trump have worked out that people like simple mantras - Get Brexit Done and Make America Great Again have served their purpose. However they are both shameless liars and neither had/have the slightest idea on how to deliver on those promises which doesn't actually matter to them because they have no intention of delivering on them anyway - they will just find the latest thing to blame and bang on about that instead. The challenge for the centre ground/progressive left is how do you package more complex policies in a way that people can engage without falling into the popularist trap of just spouting shameless bullshit and pandering to people's prejudices. I think you are right about Starmer winning more because of Tory incompetence and a split vote than people buying into the Labour agenda so the question remains open.

If that Candidate was Harris so be it but she was never Pelosi's pick. When Biden simultaneously stood down and endorsed Harris as his replacement that was never going to happen This is exactly why the pundits and commentators etc shouldn't be condemning the voting public for their choice. Had the party followed due process when selecting an alternative to Biden they might have stood a much better chance. That and not just presuming that "I'm not trump" would wash enough, without putting any effort into explaining their policies in detail, are two salient reasons as to why they failed. www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0mzl7zygpmoThis is an excellent piece of you have time to read it.
