I think he's being made a scapegoat. He's not the quickest but he's okay. If Ryan is suffering with form and fitness then the bottom line is sparky and bowen need better plan than.. Just play Ryan anyway

Some dodgy passing going on but I thought he was still our best defender in that game. Not saying much though!

I fucking hate Stoke fans at times He was probably ( apart from Allen ) the pick of a poor bunch yet we still have this utter fucking horseshite For expressing an opinion? Everybody was poor today, Allen exempt, but he's been consistently poor. May have 1 good game in 4/5, if we want to challenge for Europe he cannot be starting. He played well lads week also

He was head and shoulders Shawcross who was dire, slow and cumbersome come to mind for our defence.
At times they walked past the defence and the midfield was, well shit.

Glen is coming back at RB, Ryan needs looking over fitness wise but he will always if fit, he's our captain. Pieters was better today but woeful last week, but Wolly I haven't seen anything positive from the last 3 months (playtime, exclude the break) I honestly think we have to replace him.

I don't think he's good enough for a side that has the ability to push for Europe. It's my opinion, a rotation player at best.

At his very best he'll be moaned at for wearing gloves and running funny.
He's never safe. People have their target.

His defending for the 3rd and 4th goals yesterday was awful!
3rd one he was rolling around on the floor while they ran up the pitch and scored!
4th one he had to track sterling, got the wrong side and then was too slow to recover!

We're a bit too vulnerable to pace defensively, but that is as a unit not because of one player. I must admit Wolly is not my favourite player, but so far he has been our best defender. Hopefully we'll be able to defend better as a team soon, and Allen really impressed me yesterday. The problem is that it will be impossible to play with Imbula, Bojan and Imbula at the same time. If we are then Bojan will have to play up front with Imbula or Allen in the space behind? Team for Everton: .............Butland............. Bards..Shawcross..Wolly..Pieters ........Whelan...Imbula......... Shaq.........Allen........Arnie .............Bojan............. I don't like to leave Diouf on the bench, but I also like to see our best players on the pitch! I also think we will be a little bit better defensively with this line up. Glad I'm not the one to make the choice! or.......... ..............Butland............. Bards..Shawcross..Wolly..Pieters ........Whelan....Allen.......... Shaq..........Bojan.........Arnie ..............Diouf..............

Again he was ok.
One bit of classic of Wolly though.
Misplaces a pass quite badly to Allen I think it was on the edge of our area and then proceeds to bollock him despite it being his fault and despite the need for defending to happen.
I've given up on him though. There's no hope that the defence get decent with him in it.

At least 4 Wilsonesque errors yesterday. Next clean sheet with this defense? I'll go for December.

Our whole back 4 are very poor at the moment, and have been for a while. I do not see Wolly as a Premier league central defender, we may get away with it if Shawcross was playing as he used to, but he's not. Pieters has been poor for a good while now. Bardsley was the pick of the bunch for me, so that's saying something.
I am not a doom and gloom merchant, but unless we do something about this we are going to struggle.

If you look at the four individuals yesterday none of them were horrendous yet as a unit they look all over the place.
A good defence isn't about the individuals it's how they work together and whatever it is back there it ain't happening.

Wollscheid played very well alongside Muniesa at Leicester, a few weeks after joining us. He was the dominant one. Not sure he is as effective getting instructions from a fellow defender, even if he is the captain. Whoever MH selects as cbs, they need to play regularly together. Wollscheid is good enough, just needs to buy into the team ethic imo

Amazed I haven't seen a thread on this yet. I hate to slag one of our own off, but I cannot understand how he is earning a living as a footballer. Everybody seems to wince every time he has the ball, he scares the living daylights out of me, he can't kick properly, he runs away from the ball, and I can't even explain that run of his. Seems like the nicest of guys, but he really can't play. Looked a liability against Boro, the same again today...sorry. I thought he was better than Ryan yesterday but don`t suppose that matter`s to you .

I wonder how popular wooly is amongst his colleagues? Not as a player but as a person.
There seems no love lost between him and pieters or him and bardsley.
A lack of chemistry through the pitch is hurting us as much as any perceived lack of ability.

I really can't stress it enough.
