very good apart from the tosser from Southampton saying we were "average". I can't take anyone seriously when they look like Wordsworth (Dog from Jamie and the Magic Torch) and sound like a fucking bumpkin.

Hate these threads when people end up explaining themselves. There really is no need to lay your life bare to justify not going to a football match. Do you read that much into people's lives?

Jesus H, £66 for a pair of tickets plus best part of 60 for fuel and parking to be told we're embarrassing. I'm thinking you can shove your whinging thread where the sun don't shine. Our fans were actually ace, plenty of noise and enjoyed themselves. 60 quid or the free coaches, tough one I haven't lived in Stoke for over 30years and travel 80miles each way for home games, thanks for the reminder though Will.

From time to time. Elaborate? What I'm saying is, if they are used responsibly at festivals they don't seem to cause a problem. By making them an issue at footie does it make the kids that want to set them off less responsible? i.e. I'm not going to hold it properly because I'll get caught? just asking! I'm guessing someone has been seriously hurt or killed by one from your response though. If so, were they being handled correctly or thrown into a crowd? If you are unaware that the best part Europe is on the highest state of alert relating to terror attack`s i can understand your response if not have you ever considered what the consequences of setting of smoke bombs etc could be(perfect cover for a terrorist attack) ?causing panic in crowded areas apart from the fact it is ILLEGAL???? Grow up mate.

Excellent work Elliot. Those three at the start of the video look a bit dodgy though :-) Yeah, especially that guy with the cap, well dodgy Saw you Elliott held up outside the ground, glad you made it in. Well done with the opposing fan view, as well, always interesting to hear ! Wondered if you get to enjoy a drink too match day, or is it all work ?

I was stood about 20 feet away from it and it fucking stunk, the police and stewards rounded three lads up at half time, they happened to be stood next to the area it was let off so I imagine they'd caught them on CCTV. I hope they ban the lot of them. If they have enough evidence to get a conviction, then I think it's a near certainty that a banning order will follow. There is a difference between flares, which really are dangerous in a football crowd, and smoke bombs which are less so, but are still very hot, and, as you say, are very anti-social, both because they stink your clothes out and can have serious consequences for fellow fans who are asthma sufferers. Strangely enough, until I saw this thread, I didn't even know one had been let off. We were quite near the front - presumably it was towards the back ?

At the end of the game Charlie Adam, as he always does, came over to give his shirt to a young supporter in the crowd. Yesterday ( I assume completely coincidentally) he happened to pick out Poppy, Mabel Smith's granddaughter. Not only was it the day after her birthday, but of course, this is the ground where her grandma suffered her awful injuries the season before last. It must be a difficult ground for the family to visit, and yesterday Poppy's mum , Shirley, was wearing Mabel's iconic scarf with the badges. I find it impossible to go into that ground without thinking about Mabel, as I'm sure do many others, and I wouldn't ever want to, and this was just a nice thing to happen, and rounded off a great day. RIP Mabel.

The oatcake is plain middle class. It's like reading the Mail. I'm not condoning the "bomb", but the reaction is fascinating. You'll never live like common people... I couldn't help myself She came from Greece she had a thirst for knowledge She studied sculpture at Saint Martin's College, that's where I caught her eye. She told me that her Dad was loaded I said in that case I'll have a rum and coke-cola. She said fine and in thirty seconds time she said, I want to live like common people I want to do whatever common people do, I want to sleep with common people I want to sleep with common people like you. Well what else could I do - I said I'll see what I can do. I took her to a supermarket I don't know why but I had to start it somewhere, so it started there. I said pretend you've got no money, she just laughed and said oh you're so funny. I said yeah? Well I can't see anyone else smiling in here. Are you sure you want to live like common people You want to see whatever common people see You want to sleep with common people, you want to sleep with common people like me. But she didn't understand, she just smiled and held my hand. Rent a flat above a shop, cut your hair and get a job. Smoke some fags and play some pool, pretend you never went to school. But still you'll never get it right 'cos when you're laid in bed at night watching roaches climb the wall If you call your Dad he could stop it all. You'll never live like common people You'll never do what common people do You'll never fail like common people You'll never watch your life slide out of view, and dance and drink and screw Because there's nothing else to do. Sing along with the common people, sing along and it might just get you thru' Laugh along with the common people Laugh along even though they're laughing at you and the stupid things that you do. Because you think that poor is cool. I want to live with common people, I want to live with common people

With respect, it's not a class issue at all, and there is nothing 'middle class' about showing respect for the health, safety and wellbeing of fellow stokies, which is exactly what most 'common people' do.

Nice gesture. I wonder if it was totally random by Charlie? As it happens I have just seen the incident on Bearpit TV (link on here) and he did seem to have a purpose when he headed over there. Maybe he had picked her out at the front of the crowd during the match - or maybe there was more to it than that.

What was the other "clear penalty" they all seem to think they should've had? The consensus is they should have had 2, I can only remember one....

We were 6/1 with some bookies at one point- ridiculous odds given our form and midtable opposition. I'd expect us to be 6/1 away at Arsenal, not Southampton.

Impeccable timing what a great story Another nice moment from yesterday to go with Bojan's sublime finish and the referee forgetting to point to the penalty spot when Woolly booted big Pelle up the jacksy

You are beneath contempt. And are not worthy of responding to if you can see no problem. Beneath contempt! For what bud? Asking if the level of police reaction to a crime can make things worse? Wow! You are a terrorist and oppressive govt wet dream mate! "Oh dear Mr Tory, I'm scared, please stick cctv in my room in case the monsters under the bed come for me" Grow a back bone and try reading and comprehending posts, I only asked if the punishment made things worse.
