I found reference to a kid called Malik Johnson (originally from Jamaica) who played for Toronto against us - maybe he impressed and we've taken him on trial? Either that or the kid who left One Direction has a new profession!

I've added a few more names to the squads on the first page, the U-21's barring another winger look almost set with that.
The friendly next week at 'Castle Town should be a good one to watch with the talent we have particularly in the midfield and up front.
I'm presuming Waring is still with us for the simple fact he's started to follow Mark Waddington and Dom Telford on Twatter.

I was working in Budapest this weekend so took a trip out to Telki, 30kms out of Budapest to watch the U18s play Ferencvaros at the Global training centre today. The pitches and facilities there look wonderful. I must check this later but I remember reading a few years ago of the scandal of the Hungarian president spending millions on a football centre and awarding it to the town of his birth. This must be it.
The match ended 1-1 and was an even contest with good football from both sides. Ferencvaros scored first when a free-kick seemed to go through Chris Marques's hands. It 's a pity his Aussie compatriots weren't dropping balls like that at Lords. There was only one team sheet and the ref had it but the equaliser came from Daniel (I presume Jarvis) after the ex-Liege winger Thibault Verlinden beat his man and crossed.
Several players impressed and Tom Edwards at right back topped the list for me. He was very strong in the tackle and fast on the break. Freddy Yao looked calm and useful in the Salif Diao role and Jake Dunwoody also had a good game in midfield.
Verlinden threatened with his pace and trickery on the right wing. He looks like he needs to up his fitness a bit and went off in the first half with a leg muscle injury. Luis Silva, the signing from Benfica, looked ok defensively and passed out of defence very well. His centre back partner, Josh Williams, also looked solid.
Of the subs, Shola Ayoola looked like he could be one for the future. He's big, holds the defenders off well and has pace. There was another even bigger lad who came on at centre back and he may be the Canadian/Albanian lad bayern referred to.
I spoke briefly to one coach who was very friendly. I think it was John Perkins.
My one regret : I didn't realise until I got back to the hotel in Budapest that the other coach was Kevin The Rooster Russell. Great memories of his playing days.

I don't think it would have been Jarvis as according to the teamsheet from the U-21 friendly there was a Jarvis on the bench there and that was presumably him.

Seems to be confirmed that Harper's gone to Brighton. Probably a better move for him. Its a bit of a shame that one because I was quite excited by that prospect however we do seem to be quite top heavy at the moment in terms of attacking players especially if we sign this Ronaldo lad. |
