Given how highly rated he is you would think so but the injury is a nasty one by all accounts and has surprised both the club and the player. Molina has signed. He's gone home to Madrid and will join up with the u-21's when they arrive in Madrid for their pre-season preparations on Tuesday I think. |

He was picked in an initial squad.
I don't get the fuss at all with him tbh, he makes the same mistakes all the time and doesn't learn from them.
It'd be lovely to know who has signed, who's a trialist etc with these new names. I like the sound of Isaac Fernandes though, excellent name.

Definitely and I can't see past us loaning them out tbh, it makes no sense not to. Whereas with the Madrid lad if he signs despite having the pedigree it makes more sense (imo) to integrate him into English football and the club with our U-21's until Christmas and then go from there. |

Stoke (I think) finished in the bottom 2 of the Premier League 2nd division. Instead of a mad rush to get 18 and 19 year olds out on loan (remembering that the average age of premiership debut is 22) why not have a go at getting promotion into the first division. The standard of the team should be higher this year, they can still dip in and out of first team training and, if they are doing well, get bench appearances and the odd cup run out.
To take the argument a step further, with at least half the team being bought in to improve the quality, I would expect them to breeze the league this season, if they don't, you would have to question their readiness to step up a level.

When you've got the two lads from Blackpool though who have already tasted that higher level surely they will want and need that? And most clubs do use loans still as the main development tool for their better U-21 players. And in the case of Waddington, there's him, Molina (if he signs), Lecygne and Ollie Roberts all vying for 2 places, so it'd make sense for at least one of them to go out on loan and playing games especially with how spread out the U-21 calendar is. |
