Telford. Ngoy hasn't really had a good run of games this season, keeps getting injured. When he's fit he's a handful, looked off the pace yesterday but then first game back. How's Verlinden getting along for the U18s? |

I think it was a shoulder injury at first, then knee. He's certainly missed a lot of games and the 18's have missed him badly.
The best I've seen of verlinden was with the 21's so he either needs better players around him or he try's to do a bit too much when he's with the 18's, I can't decide. Either way, he's got tonnes of potential.

Ben Marshall. Who's he playing for now? Shotton was a miles better winger.  Now that one was a fuck up. Play a winger on the wing, play a right back at right back etc. It was pathetic. It was a very annoying tendency of the former manager. Nearly as annoying as the way Ben "average" Marshall became the poster boy for the "Give Youth a Chance" party. |

I think Hughes is just as bad tbh. |

As we only have 5 fit/half fit defenders surely it is time to throw an under 21 defender into Saturdays squad or are they that bad
that Mame Diouf at right back is a better option. If this is he case is it worth having the academy that the club have spent a lot of money on with absolutely no return.

No idea but it fits in with the general apathy I think Stoke fans have with this area of football. I find it a crying shame but we haven't had much to shout about when it comes to youth football! |

I would think it's true, he's been at the club for a few years now, I think I'm right in thinking it was he who was at Clayton Wood on deadline day even though everyone else had the day off, maybe some negotiations going on?
Having said that, if I were a young footballer in his position, at a club that doesn't seem to want to play its youngsters, then I would be out the door no matter how much money they offered, at his age he needs to be playing men's football.

Definitely a concern that we could be losing some potentially good future players especially when for the one spot up front we have too many players in: Crouch, Odemwingie, Walters, Joselu, Diouf and Bojan. We need to thin out the amount of players there so that we can give the 5-15 minute appearances to the likes of N'Goy, Waring and Telford. I see us going after a top notch striker this summer and so with Odemwingie leaving it would be good to see one or two of Crouch, Walters or Diouf leave. |

I'd like to think Hughes will have a good look at N'Goy, Telford, Waring, Shenton, Taylor etc in preseason whilst some of the first team lads are on their break after the Euros. It really does look like we've got a lot of talent there. Just need to integrate them with the first team now. |
