You have to ask where our new striker is and what's holding him up if we're able to pay £5M for Cattermole

If we sign this clown there is no way the FA will ever take us serious again. The REF's will love us.

He's a better player than most give him credit for. Not that at the top of the list of midfielders I'd like us to get rid of. With Bridcutt coming here though we'd be crazy to get take the offer if it's there.

Really? In what universe mate. Utter tool. In the one that actually involves watching football matches. Oops sorry meant Cattermole being the tool, sorry if offended ( watching Man City stuffing West Ham already)

Please god no - absolute lunacy to even consider signing Cattermole. We really must be scraping the bottom of the barrel now.

Plays for you, you love him.
For now, he remains a c**t.

Maybe this is all a red herring so we can rush the Mario Götze deal through quickly and without anybody noticing. I'd like to think so

I bet he twats Nzonzi within a couple of games for a start if he comes in , not going to score lots of goals though but good player if he stays on the pitch , thats his problem If that's the case I would offer blunderland £8m for him

I watched your match against Southampton, Cattermole got skinned and then basically booted the player and correctly got a yellow card, very poor player please keep him.

I'd rather we spent our money elsewhere. All I seem to recall of Cattermole is his crazy arse tackles being highlighted on MOTD

Yeah wasn't a good day for him. Still, everyone for us was wretched for the first half. He is usually much better than that. I honestly think he's a good player. The red mist and injury record is the worry.

For crying out loud! Why not put in a bid for Joseph Barton and stop pretending we want to play technique based football. Please do not be true Last time I saw Barton play at the Brit he was the best player on the pitch despite the fact we pasted Newcastle . He,s just a horrible human being

Wouldn't be a bad signing just not one to get the pulses racing. A decent enough defensive midfielder who's passing ability would fit in with what Hughes is trying to do.
If we can get rid of Palacios and Edu and replace him with Cattermole It's decent enough business. It's just that it's not the type of signing you would be hoping for if we are to 'push on'.

I agree with Rob on this one. He is quality. With a strong manager like Hughes, who was no shrinking violet on the pitch himself, he could improve his disciplinary record. BIG upgrade on Whelan for me.

Yeah wasn't a good day for him. Still, everyone for us was wretched for the first half. He is usually much better than that. I honestly think he's a good player. The red mist and injury record is the worry. Captain, hard as it is to take away the red mist stupidity and injury record, how would you describe his game? He's a midfield rattler, pure and simple. He closes people down absolutely brilliantly, there is no question about that. The problem is that he sometimes closes people down with so much relish that he gets seriously annoyed when he doesn't get the reward for it. That's when the red mist falls. But he passes the ball quite well, much better than people think. His long passing is especially underrated. I mean he isn't going to spray it around like Pirlo but he's good at spreading the ball out to the flanks. With Poyet though, what he wants for the role Cattermole currently plays is someone with a brain. Someone who will plug the gaps responsibly rather than pursue the ball relentlessly. Cattermole is a very English midfielder in essentially a South American system here (or at least that's the system Poyet wants). But Cattermole is a very good footballer when everything comes together. He can be a genuine force in there. The Brit crowd will love him if/when you see the best of him, and you'd start to understand why Sunderland fans have tended to have been more forgiving of him than the rest of the country think we should be. A few interesting stats about his passing here that we did recently rokerreport.sbnation.com/2014/1/14/5305674/by-the-stats-the-facts-and-figures-behind-sunderlands-passing

Upgrade on whelan or not. Id much prefer to spend the money on other areas of the pitch at this point
