He hasn't really given Sunderland much of a kick up the arse this season has he, so why would he help us in that regard? Because a change of scenery can reinvigorate a player? Because Sunderland's problems are deeper than just needing a kick up the arse? Maybe our problems are deeper than just needing a kick up the arse? Listen, some people would be happy with this signing it seems, i wouldn't. I don't rate him, never have done, i don't like him, never have done. We could argue forever about this but i won't bother because i just dunna rate the guy and i hope we don't sign him. There are much better options out there, who? you may ask....well it's actually not my job to find those players, people, employed by our club, get paid to watch football in Europe, indeed in the whole world to find better central midfielders than Lee Cattermole. If we can't find anyone better who we can get to the club then i just don't know how to finish that sentence, so i'll finish it with this.

Most can't seem to wait to get rid of the bloke. Hopefully it's nowhere near £5m initially.

Cattermole, Trippier and a quick striker in I could live well with! Jones, Edu, Palacios, Ethers, Pennant and Wilko out! I'd rather keep Shotton than Wilko due to age, fitness and verstility! With Trippier in we could move Geoff to right midfield and still have him and Arnie/Assaidi as possible replacements out wide.

Every team needs a hard bastard on the pitch and in the dressing room .and we certainly need some steal in the center and this guy can actually play some football as well

For crying out loud!
Why not put in a bid for Joseph Barton and stop pretending we want to play technique based football.
Please do not be true

£5 million for a player who is 25 and has managed to accumulate 7 red cards in his premier league career and averages a red every 26 games would be total madness in my opinion.

If it is true, does it suggest the mooted purchase of a RB with Cameron potentially moving to midfield was off-base?

Most great teams have one slightly unhinged hard man in their ranks, and we at Stoke have had our fair share down the years (from Setters, through Smithy, to Kamara, Kennedy, Overson, Foley, Razor, the Beest, Shtaniuk, even Huth). If we can rein him in a bit, he is a fine defensive midfielder and captaincy material.

His injury record concerns me. It shouldn't matter as the twat is always suspended or getting into trouble with the law anyway.........this move smacks of desperation. Don't do it Stoke, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease!

There just has to be better midfield options abroad for that kind of outlay. Cattermole is a massive liability that we could well do without at the moment and his disciplinary issues aren't outweighed by his talent.

FFS epic failure. The guy is a nutjob. What have us Stoke fans done wrong to deserve this..? Total waste of oxygen. If true it shows how low we are scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Sad, mad and bad times a head. We have become a Sunderland reject recycling centre. NO NO NO NO ..

I just think some people only see the red cards and don't see the talent he possesses when he's not being an arse. I remember the u-21 tournament before he went to Sunderland and he was England's best player. He's seemingly out of form and out of time at Sunderland but has put in some good performances in his time there.
