I'd prefer Colback.

He looks good in the Man Utd game! Decent passing range and sits in the position in front of the back 4 where we are lacking someone!

Hooked with 10 mins to go. If he's not injured it's a bit of a strange sub that.

He went down with a knock but was getting subbed before that for a more attaching midfielder in Gardner!

I'm against Cattermole because no man with balls can pull his shorts as high as Lee does.

Whoever wrote the headline containing the words "...closing fast..." obviously has no clue whatsoever about the speed with which we move in the transfer market.

Haha It's looking like Spinksy's dropped a right bollock on this one, and it was never as close as he was suggesting, or WAS close and has gone away. No-one in the sizeable north-east press pack has really mentioned it since, and no-one seems to think it's ever really been as firmly on as was suggested? Suppose it's possible we could be waiting for them to get Bridcutt over the line before it happens - but not holding my breath....

As we were. Back to the usual old chestnuts.
SWP en route...

They can keep him. Another Sunderland clogger in the Dean Whitehead mould. Absolutley no creativity or goals from midfield and we have enough of them already.

Can't see the point in a 'slight' upgrade on Whelan. We need an attacking CM that can chip in with some bloody goals not another midfield enforcer.

He had such potential at a young age but wasted it through ill discipline. He would of been a success if he had someone like fergie to nuture him when young. As much as i liked him wen younger i dnt think he the player for us.

Adam, Ireland will certainly chip in with goals, as to would N'zonzi (maybe) if we had a decent "enforcer". Stoke need to shift the likes of Palacios, and replace with much much better. Unfortunately it's a lot easier said than done!

To sign Cattermole would have Tony Waddington turning in his grave and would be a total embarrassment to all decent Stoke fans who appreciate the game being played properly.
I utterly despair.

Waddo was managing Stoke during very different times. Even so, Cattermole seems more like a Pulis target than a Hughes target.

The only thing that Stoke can sign fast is an aging senior player on wages higher than the contribution they currently serve their squad for countless years past thier due date, all the while getting swindled in the process for past glories and ruining any chances of youth development in the current squad. Its kind of become our thing. Hopefully these loans will work until the last crap contract is bought out or finished.

So according to Poyet we haven't even made a bid.
Just what the fuck was Spinks thinking here?

The same Waddo who signed Eddie Clamp & Mo Setters? I take your point but it takes all sorts to make a side.

Poyet“There have been no offers at all for Lee Cattermole,” he said firmly.
“So it could be plenty of rumours.
“I try to be helpful when I can be to the media over transfers although it is important I do not say anything which might affect a transfer.
“But in this case, it is an easy question for me to answer: we have definitely not had an offer for him.”
