He's actually saying that UEFA draws were fixed - not FIFA World Cup draws. However, it still begs the question as to why he did not blow the whistle at the time. Edit: Another nail in Platini's coffin, hopefully. Agree. He was the boss so why didn't he do something? Even if it's Uefa not the circus he ran he has to be liable for something.

As a species, we are capable of such evil.
We really don't deserve the intelligence we have been blessed with Joe

I reckon that's it for the FBI. Grit our teeth and get through the next few World Cups and make the best of it. As for Blatter, uphold the ban so he's finished. Then we just have to adapt to the spineless Infantino.

I wouldn't be surprised if Blatter gets everything pinned on him.

Blatter stated "I have experienced much in my 41 years in Fifa. I mostly learned that you can win in sport, but you can also lose."
Catches on quickly doesn't he?

another FIFA man guilty of bribes, I've never heard of this one. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39747787Richard Lai, 55, has admitted taking $950,000 (£735,000) in bribes. He sits on Fifa's audit and compliance committee as well as the ethics committee of the Asian Football Confederation.

Now Russia 2018 is getting closer and given most of the world will perceive the bidding process to have been (even more) corrupt (than other World Cups)will it be a huge stink or will the world just carry on with the standard World Cup mentality?

The world will just carry on with the standard World Cup mentality. Must admit Joe, i'm not 100% sure myself, although less to do with the corrupt nature of the bidding process and far more to do with the safety aspect. Can you see hundreds of thousands of people suddenly turning up at a place which is well known for it's racism, homophobia and football related violence in the same way they have for other World Cups? I have no doubt there'll be the usual media jizzfest leading up to it, but i have a feeling it may well be one of the most poorly attended WCs in living memory, and that will have a massive impact on the tournament itself even for those of us viewing from the safety of our own armchairs.

Remember until USA 1994 loads of World Cup finals matches had stacks of unsold tickets. As for Russia next year...tickets will sell. Later rather than sooner, but it won't be a ghost town situation. When the time comes plenty of people will buy tickets.

This epitomizes how ridiculous FIFA has become. The head of the Guam Football sits on the FIFA Ethics committee, How many people play football in Guam? Can't be more than half a dozen.

Agree 100% Millsy. Having said that, they'll have far more 'real' supporters there than at the following tournament. Sadly.

Any boycott would only work with collective action. Now there's no way UEFA nations would boycott a World Cup in Russia for obvious reasons. Qaatar is a different kettle of pork altogether but there was no will to take action. And England acting independently would be a laughing stock.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-40155829Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of destabilising the region. They say Qatar backs militant groups including so-called Islamic State (IS) and al-Qaeda, which Qatar has denied. As long as FIFA still gets it's backhanders, hey. Need a few big names to join them now.

In light of recent events, there will have to be close scrutiny of the security at this event....
I didn't agree with it being held there in the first place, but questions will have to asked. Catch 22 situation at the moment... Hold it, but we have to ensure security is tighter than a gnat's arse.... don't hold it and then suddenly we are held to ransom by any crackpot group. Just like the Munchen massacre at Olympics '72.... we need to stand firm.

if the Saudi's are cutting ties, then they must be bad
personally i think the teams and fans should boycott it in protest
the rules were bent to fit their bid (inc moving it 6 months down the line to xmas) and i would be staggered if any fans thought it would be a good idea to go
how many people have died building the ghost cities and stadia?
i' genuinely going to avoid it when it's on
