35 miles this week. 5K road route PB today of 23.52. First mile was 7.06 (downhill) - what is your 1 mile best? Thinking I could get close to 6.40? 🤷🏻♂️

Thinking I could get close to 6.40? 🤷🏻♂️ On this Garmin 5:50 during an actual 10K race two years ago. On my 5K pb set 5 years ago I averaged 5:59. I've only ever done one, one mile race which I messed up and did in 5:43 again 5 years back. I suspect a long, long time ago in my prime it would have been a low 4

Early start for 21 miles this morning, just over 3 hours. Came across some Indian runner ducks in Higher Whitley Village, couldn't catch them

24.50 for King George Parkrun yesterday (even though the actual finish was 3.2km & 25.20!) and a 51 min 10k in Pershore today, which more than happy with Would have been sub 51 if I hadn't let another runner who got into difficulty on the run in pass me as she had been in front of me all run!
Such a gent!

No Parkrun this weekend as maximising rest before half marathon in Worcester tomorrow, and with that it will be a steady pace with a fellow Stokie who is getting back from injury
Perfect opportunity for 10 min miles ready for Berlin, and perfect opportunity to say hello as usual to Steve Cram & mention the joys of getting his manager :-D

A humid, drizzly and very misty 13 miles over Burley and Bingley moors this morning. Proper head-clearing running - although I was never more than about 6 and 11 miles from the city centres of Bradford and Leeds respectively, the deadening blanket of the mist made me feel as if I was 100 miles from anywhere. Moorland is still totally dried out around here and all trails hard underfoot.

I marshalled a 20 mile race today at the 15 mile point. I always take a load of water and rarely give out more than 5 or 6 it was 24 today so it must have been a lot warmer running than it seemed to be just standing around.
The two leaders were neck and neck with 5 miles to go but it seems that one got away and won by a minute in 1:55. Not bad on an undulating course with a few hills. It's interesting that the two local 20 mile races have now introduced an hour earlier start for slower runners which has proved to be very popular.

The lady with the black labrador at ours a few years ago is now a TRC member and ran it with her mum.

Up and out early this morning at 05.30 and did 22 miles, dark and rainy to start with, first time I've felt cool on a run for months. Felt a bit of a slog but it's now taper time 🙂

Anyone tried heart rate based training over a decent period? Set up alerts on my watch to keep within a certain range and have walking intervals to recover if needed, efforts seem to be much easier and am not as 'beat up' afterwards, covering much more distance and time on my feet, of course noticeably slower average pace.
Going to see how it goes over a longer period, but all of my runs so far have impacted my 'base' according to the Garmin.. whilst most of my runs beforehand had been 'tempo' / VO2 Max'.
