Just had a pair of Asics GT 1000 10 delivered. Fit seems okay but the advice to go half a size larger than normal was correct. Be interested to see how they feel. The Nike Pegasus I'm used to were hanging off my feet. The 1000's are my normal choice of shoes, I'll be at 'up and running' in Chester in just over 3 weeks to get some new ones. I'm in the Asics kayanos and for shorter runs the Hoka one one's atm, but keep getting niggles in places I've never had them before so will change back. To be honest I'm struggling a little with them. I'm just walking in them to try and break them in. Don't feel as cushioned as any Nikes I've used in the past.

I moved on to the Asics Gel Nimbus Lites last year and have just had a second pair delivered. I've used Asics now for probably the last 6 years. Have you got any inserts I use Shuropody in Trentham for Footbalance inserts that are heated and then moulded to the arch, etc for support.

When it all opens up again I'll look at that. There's a yank brand of walking boots that you can have fitted similarly, supposed to be spot on.

Clocked up 350km for the year tonight with a steady 13km @ 5:23/km.
I’m hoping to maintain a similar pace for a half marathon in the coming weeks to get in or around 1:55:00.

I use these particular inserts in wellies, walking shoes, walking boots, work shoes based on the fact that the sports physio who recommended them does the same. I think the shop at Shuropody may well be open. The two chiropody units are working. Edit: The inserts cost around £45 with fitting.

The two ladies I run with are both in PB mode and desperate for official chip times I did a 10K last October under Covid secure measures and it was extremely well organised no doubt helped by the fact that runners are desperate for official races.

8.5 miles last night in 65 minutes, efforts up and down the canal from Stockton Brook and then the hills around Greenway Golf club and Bagnall what a fantastic night for running.
I hadn't been on the canal section at Stockton Brook before what a beautiful stretch.

First half marathon distance, 2 hours 7 minutes. Nothing to write home about but I tend to focus on elevation gain as much as pace.
Wasn't really intending to do it but just went in Forest Gump mode after about 12k so carried on plodding.

Managed just under 7 miles on a new loop course yesterday afternoon in just under 49 minutes doing another recce for the forthcoming half. The last nine kilometres at half marathon pace so hopefully with another couple of weeks training I can get down to a decent time.

10K in 53:30 - average of 8:37 per mile or 5:21 per km. Pleased with that as was aiming for below 54 minutes. Didn't have any breakfast either as I think was giving me stitch

Didn't have any breakfast either as I think was giving me stitch I need food to be about 4 hours before a race, usually porridge. For general running in the early mornings I tend to use toast as it's a bit easier. I was out racing on Saturday with a few friends and this discussion came up. The nurse friend said that it's also to do with breathing associated with shallower breathing and the diaphragm. Usually a good burp will help
