I managed 6k on the canal toward denford. It wipes me out though, Iβm probably running too fast / far. Too steep for you? Beautiful part of the world. I managed to get a 10 miler in down that way just before the lock down. Parked up at Cheddleton station and took the canal down to Deep Hayes, managed to fall on my ass in one of the muddy sections and back on the canal path. The young whippersnapper I was with decided to put a 6.30 mile in for the last one Haha yeah, I donβt know whatβs going on. I probably need to get more than ten runs in before I start running 6k. Deep Hayes and the canal roots around here are beautiful and perfect for running. I used to run up and down penkhull so this should be easy π

I've lived here 40 years and still love marching up from Stoke with someone who isn't from around here. I'm running outdoors for the first time in years, I want to get to the point where I can finish my run with a charge up Chamberlain Avenue.

With different variations depending how bollocksed I was.

How does mid 22min 5ks rank in the grand scheme of things?
I couldn't even break 30 minutes when I started.

How does mid 22min 5ks rank in the grand scheme of things? I couldn't even break 30 minutes when I started. You'll most likely still be in the main part of the pack at a Parkrun, but definitely towards the front of it - top 25% I'd guess. In my experience, anything around 21 and under will mean you're in plenty of space at most Parkruns (excluding any that attract loads of people). It's all relative though and you're only really competing with yourself. That said, if I catch you on any of my CR segments on strava, I can't be held responsible for what I might do. There's a lad who is in the GB orienteering squad moved in near me and he's left me with hardly anything π

I'd like to go for a run tomorrow but I've drank too much rum tonight. Any advice for not drinking too much rum the night before wanting to go on a run the next day? Ta.

I'd like to go for a run tomorrow but I've drank too much rum tonight. Any advice for not drinking too much rum the night before wanting to go on a run the next day? Ta. plenty of water before bedtime, piss the bed, then you'll need to run as far away from the Mrs. as you can, note I've never done that. just plenty of water, and a banana in the morning and off you go.

Got up to 8 miles yesterday morning, lovely to get off down the river weaver for the first time this year, willow, reed and grasshopper warblers have all arrived, house martins swooping over the river, a swan on it's nest, hardly a person about in the early morning sunshine

I took a flier at it recently and thought I'd smashed it. Ended up 2nd by 3 seconds!

They're balanced out by the ones you weren't going for but end up doing really well on. It's usually on that rare occasion where everything feels smooth and running is the easiest thing in the world.
