I think this makes a lot of sense, I can't believe people thought Villa winning was the best result for us. If we don't get anything against Sunderland or Spurs and Wigan get results against W. Brom and Swansea, then I 'spose there's now a chance that we could go into the last day not knowing if we're absolutely safe. No supposing about it. We are still massively in this. I really fear Wigan. The FA Cup final galvanised us two years ago. I'll be surprised if they don't get 6 from the next two. Even being 'galvanised' by our FA Cup run we won one of our last 4 games, drew one and lost 2

Norwich will be a bit more concerned after this result too
They play Villa at home next followed by WBA at home then Man City away!
Thank goodness we got 3 points against them
I still think that it may be too much for Wigan with an FA Cup Final for them

There is absolutely know way we'll ever score six under Pulis. There is absolutely know way we'll ever score five in an FA Cup semi final under Pulis.

The thrashing is good, we now have a better goal difference than Sunderland (hopefully they don't reverse that when we play 'em). 1 point will see us safe for sure.

Spot on there defence looks shocking. If we have a go and try and get an early goal there fans could turn.on the team. I can see how Sessignons red can be overturned if it is there's something wrong. It was a dangerous tackle.

I still can't see past Wigan. I can't see them getting more than 5 points.
I'm not even worried about us anymore.

If Villa were to win this thorough hammering was the best result. Gets Sunderland in goal difference race and totally demoralizes them. Not the best result but the best that could come of a Villa win. Didn't see a kick of it but I presume Benito wasn't leaping about like a jack in the box by the end?

I love how Wigan have averaged less than a point a game all season (relegation form) but because we're not mathematically safe, they're now capable of averaging over 2 points per game (champions league form) to relegate us. Not only that, the other 5 teams below us will all overtake us aswell, including a free falling Newcastle. Best still, the teams below us are playing each other - they can't all win all their remaining games!!!

Or I'll put it another way - I'll GUARANTEE that the team finishing 18th does so with less than 40pts. 6 teams below us on less than 40, one of them will not get past 39.

To be fair Wigan have been playing well recently - they were desperately unlucky not to beat Spurs at the weekend. 1-0 away wins for Wigan (at West Brom) Villa (at Norwich) and Newcastle (at West Ham) will make the table look much, much tighter before we even play Sunderland. Having said that, W. Brom beating Wigan and Norwich in their next two games, would do us a huge favour.

Like I've said above, somebody won't reach 40pts. Most likely Wigan or Newcastle.

It would still take a freak set of results to send us down. Wigan would have to win 3 out of 4 games and Villa would have to pick up at least 4 points when one of their games is against Chelsea.

Neville thinks the appeal will not be successful

Between wigan and newcastle, please be newcastle. Wigan win game in hand only 2 points behind castle. We will be above villa and wigan come last game of season and easily safe anyway.

I think Wigan will go down its been on the cards for a few seasons now back in 10/11 we really should have put them to the sword a couple of great first half saves and a tired second half stoke saved them.
Last season a couple of bizarre results saved them.

I've done the BBC predictor and even with the teams below us playing each other, it's still possible for someone to get relegated on 43 points. It wouldn't take a completely freakish set of results to send us down. I've been saying we'll be safe since before the QPR game though so not many worries from me. We're more likely to finish 10th. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/KYqg3pYeaerc5lD_P7BR.gif)

I'm guessing that it's because we're still effectively 4 points ahead of Villa with 3 games to go and they still have to play Wigan where points will obviously be dropped and even if we lose by the odd goal to Sunderland next Monday, we will still be above them and they still have to go away to Spurs?

Ive tried every worst case scenario possible and still cant see us relegated even losing all our games, we are not even in the odds for relegation anymore on bet365, funnily enough. ![(lol)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/lvpvZ64EmrkLcuVniUmo.gif)

320/1 on Betfair on us going down. We are safe as houses now, relax.
I don't think it matters what the other results are, we've easily got another point in us and along with our goal difference, that will be enough to see us home. I think we will draw against Sunderland for starters. Danny Graham is their only available striker FFS! Wigan beating west brom away and Swansea at home is hardly a shoo in, especially when you factor in fatigue.
No, we are definitely safe now.

Sunderland haven't won any of their last 17 Premier League games on a Monday, a run stretching back to a 2-1 win over Leicester in April 2002.

My go on the BBC predictor says Newcastle go down and we stay 12th on 43 points. I've taken into account current form and I just can't see Newcastle pulling themselves out df free fall.
