Funny feeling about Rafa. Did he meet Coates when he came to visit TP (was it last year???) or did he just watch training? He's still lives near Liverpool so wouldn't be a difficult commute for the bloke.

I just wish they'd tell us one way or another so we can get on with the Great British summer.
We're like a horse with a broken leg right now and nobody will pull the trigger.

The season isn't over yet. For all intents and purposes, it is. If Pulis is staying then get the meeting done and tell us all he's staying. The longer it goes with no noise you'd have to imagine the chances of him going increases.

I agree it's all disturbing and no one appears to have the slightest interest in lancing the boil

The longer it goes with no noise you'd have to imagine the chances of him going increases. Peter Coates is old school, like me, but with money. There is one match left to play so the season is not yet over. Tony Pulis is under contract to manage Stoke so there is no need to announce that he is staying. He is staying until he decides to leave, is sacked or some mutual accomodation is reached. If it has already been decided that he is being replaced it would be a discourtesy to him to say so before the last match and would undermine his authority. If his replacement is known and is managing another team it would be equally discourtious to that team to announce a replacement. All things have their proper time and that will be after the season has ended officially. Lot's of "ifs" but that is how I see it.

Totally agree joe.
No way the club would publicly announce Tony Pulis is for the off until the end of the season.
I think that's justified, lets give Tony the up-most respect if we're going to replace him.
I'm sure the club have sounded out possible replacements, let them do their business, they know what they're doing I'm sure.
If they get the right replacement......

I agree he does deserve respect and I will for one always have a high regard are are greatful for what he has done but it is defo time for a change in direction. I think he is going as I feel that if he was staying 100% PC would have come out and put all this to bed and backed him which he has not.

They needed to keep TP onside until we were safe - ie last week Also disrespectful not to do it in a proper fashion at the season end - only days away I would take that one stage further ... Coates will keep TP onside until the £5m match is finished.

Yes, fingers crossed maybe but TP deserves a load of credit for what he's achieved with Stoke. If only 'stability' in the Premier league, thats great for business and thats what its all about these days.
But Coates family know about unsettled support and that could send us down quicker than TP's tactics next season. We've all seen the team when the rot has set in...Barker, Mills, Ball. Plus a few other short term managers.
Club would never announce it before the end of season. Especially since we were safe a couple of games back. Maybe after Villa game they considered firing him but....
Alls well that ends well.

"It just goes to show that everyone can beat everyone and that money isn't the be-all and end-all. We're a club of mates, a club that brings young players through and gives them a chance. "At the end of the day, it's worked out well for us. We played some great football, with a well-balanced team and I'm overwhelmed." from wikki, sounds alright but ...

So given he wants to stay in England where will he go? Wouldn't mind seeing him here Joe - but Geoff has made a valid point ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/7TTgAtwUz19SBi0cvrCX.gif) . Rafa's stock will have risen again and there's no denying that will reduce any chance we have.

I accept and understand the point, but my question remains given his stated preference to remain in England
