Paul, I can totally see your logic re Allardyce (very similar to Pulis, solid old school appointment, unlikely to risk Premier League status), but Bruce? Ask Capt. Fishpaste and the Mackems what they think of him, or Wigan or Blues or Huddersfield or Palace fans. On that basis Mark Hughes is worth a shout too, despite some very dodgy work on his CV.
As I have said before, Benitez (unlikely I know), Di Matteo or Martinez for me. Just because they are not English, it doesn't mean they are a risk - all know the English game very well.

Think i'd plump for one of Benitez, Di Matteo or Poyet.
I cannot see Martinez leaving Wigan.
Wishful thinking maybe as I have a sense of dread that someone will have to surgically detach Coates and Pulis right now and can see the capped one in charge next season wherever we find ourselves which isn't an entertaining thought right now.
Ive never known two men be so quick to deny any possible departure of a manager with a dog awful record like ours has.
Most other clubs he would of been sacked bar maybe Wigan due to the Whelan-Martinez love in.

Brighton boss Gus Poyet has revealed that he will walk out on the club if he is forced to alter his style of football.
The Seagulls started the season among the favourites for promotion and initially lived up to those expectations with five wins and a draw in their opening six Championship games. But Brighton are now without a win since September 10, have scored just three goals in their last seven games and were beaten 1-0 by Watford on Tuesday without even managing a shot on target. But manager Poyet, who was named League One manager of the Year last season after steering his side to the title, insists he will not change his tactics - even if it costs him his job. "If I need to change the way we play, I'll go home. We are going to play the way I want," he said. "Either we get back to our best or we're going to have to change the players. I'm not going to change, that's for sure. "I should be under pressure shouldn't I? It's now eight or nine games without a win. But I don't feel under pressure. I think my chairman would agree because it's clear that I'm not going to change. "If he wants a change he knows what to do."
He sounds as stubborn as that bloke who always wears the cap. And he's pretty good at getting 1-0 defeats without a shot on target.
Poyet. The Uruguayan Pulis?

Although some want Poyet to leave because of his"negative style" I copied this bit off the Brighton site whilst looking up what their fans thought of Poyet, makes interesting reading.
"He's absolutely turned around the season with two sublime bits of business - the signing we've needed for so long, Ulloa, and the absolute rock at the back, Upson. We've been a different team since. Players like Lopez and Orandi now have a genuine outlet to aim for and are looking like genuinely class widemen as a result. He's completely learnt from last seasons failings, packing loads of uneccessary loan signings into the midfield and hoping for the best. Instead, we're consistent and really seem to gel now, with players like Hammond making significant contributions. We're not looking as vulnerable away from home in spells under pressure because we're so much better in the air now - partially due to the support from Ulloa but mainly due to Upson. It's unfortunate for El-Abd, but we've looked vastly more comfortable without him in the side."
Could be the man for us?

Is there a market for Stoke's manager at the start of next season? I am guessing that TP would still be favourite at the moment?

Daily RecordCELTIC boss Neil Lennon has emerged as a contender to take over at Stoke City.
Stoke expect to part company with Tony Pulis at the end of the season and the Northern Irishman is on their radar.
MailSport can reveal Lennon and Arsenal No.2 Steve Bould have been discussed at boardroom level as the main candidates should they look for someone new.
Lennon is also in contention to replace Davie Moyes at Goodison following the Scot’s departure for Manchester United.

Poyet on the other hand has halved in price with Stan James and lengthened by 50 percent with Victor! I think everyone is in the dark, although it looks like there has been a few £25 quids here and there on Hughes today.

O'Neil is old school dunno if that works anymore what with prozone and diets etc. Is Zolas success at Watford purely down to abusing the foreign loans loophole? Some of the stuff they play is wonderfull to watch, admittedly against inferior opposition.

Solksjaer all the way for me Norwegian tableHaving a shocker of a start in Norway. To be honest, whoever we were to go for would split the support. I haven't come across one candidate who'd unite everyone from the off. But that's probably unavoidable. All candidates that clubs like us can get are unproven/slightly soiled goods in one way or another
