I've not seen a lot of him recently, but I do think from hazy memories Mackie might be a tiny bit more craft and a tiny bit less AAARGH POWER KICK RUN than Walters. Sort of like a dog chasing a bone with a sparkly collar or something. And I wonder if the cumulative effect of two of those at once might be enough to panic defences a bit. But yes, would swap any of crown jewels to avoid Shotton on the right. Mind you, I'm still convinced Owen will come good, so i should probably just crawl back under my rock. ;D I like that analogy. I'm sick to death of Walters it has to be said, so a Another one in the team for me is a nightmare. As I've said it will probably work but it will generally be horrible. Careful, Bayern. Careful!

out of curiosity, what is the massive dislike some folk on here have towards Peter Crouch?! I don't think it dislike of Crouchie as a player its more the fact he's totally unsuited to the system Pulis plays. Or the fact the last few games he's looked a shadow of his former self, drawing people to look at his age etc pro's & con's of shipping him out now and getting a re-coup on his initial transfer fee even if it is minimal.

'ard working plodders IN THE RIGHT POSITIONS though? Baby steps... (of course I accept that what would actually happen is Adam and Mackie up front, and Walters on the right. ) Why can't we sign some 'ard working players who can play a bit too? I can accept one attacking position being used for nullifying but two does my head in. I guess he's better than Shotton on the right. The aspiration we are showing. ;D Fuck me! Our two forwards should be trying to score goals. We have defenders and defensive midfielders to stop 'em! Pulis is the Peter Ebdon of football. Have a fucking go, man!

If he played pontoon, he'd stick on 12 every time.

Another nail in Pulis' coffin if this shit is true. Another championship plodder to go with all the others we have in our ranks. The thought of seeing Mackie running round Walters style in a Stoke shirt makes me want to kill myself. Swapping Crouch for Mackie would be one of Pulis' worst piss takes out of em all and would only weaken our squad even further. Why the fuck can't we look around Europe and pick up some premier league standard players like others seem to do? Oh I remember,it's because we have a dinosaur in charge doing his yearly impression of the thickest T-Rex that ever roamed the earth. zzzzzzzzzz, who do you suggest then? What's up? You still asleep from your latest dose of Pulisball? Suppose this Mackie debate all depends on what you class as a good premier league footballer really. If you think that loads of hard work mixed in with a rare goal now an then is good enough then fine,I also suppose that if limping your way to 40 points each year is what you're looking for then Mackie may fit the bill. Me,I expect a lot more from any future signings we make seeing as though we are now an established premier league side, players who will still put the graft in but also offer something else like vision, skill, craft, guile, pace etc. I simply cannot believe that any Stoke fan could get excited over signing a player of Mackie's ability this long into our premier league life. He will not improve us one bit and for me if it is true it sums our manager up perfectly. Oh and to answer your question I don't really know who, that is up to our extremely over paid management team to sort out,I don't watch football all over the world and don't get paid to find players who can improve the way we play, although I reckon if did I would struggle to do a worse job than they are currently doing.

Cashback! I took a punt on Elmander when some shady ITK type said we were after a Scandinavian. Drogba sure to oust him from the Gala side. Can't have too much of a glowing reference from Tone's best good mate Megson though. Hope it's bullshit

No disrespect to Mackie, but I feel that Crouch leaving will be a little sad. I felt that the Crouch signing was a sign that instead of being grateful to play in the Premier League, this was a signing that showed we were there to compete. Indeed Crouch has often said that a reason he signed was the players that he was promised would follow him. Crouch does appear to be a "former shadow" whether because he is "shot", "toothless" or his "square peg being thrust into a wrong hole" The sad thing is that present form and the signings of Brek Shea, Jamie Mackie dont provide the same excitement or embody/symbolise that same sense of progression that the Crouch signing gave me. If he goes, thanks Peter you always have come across as a top bloke.

I can't see how Pulis could turn that down tbh, and i'm far from convinced on Jamie Mackie. In theory it's an £8m bid for a 31 year old who we paid too much for in the first place. Surely it's his one and only chance to save a bit of face though?

I dread to think what he's going to come up with with two Walters at his disposal every week, though. I'm hiding behind the table, and hoping we only ever see 1 on the pitch at any given time

Long overdue for the dross people have suffered. I say to tony you have bought it upon yourself and it all stems from the negative away performances now filtering into home ones.

I'd let Crouch go for £4 million OR Mackie never mind £4 million AND Mackie.
You've got to factor into the equation, that if Crouch goes we'll keep Kenwyne.

Now we're back to rooting through the bargain bins, because that's where Pulis feels safe.

If Sidibe is announced as a member of our 25 man squad going into February, then Pulis should without any complaint whatsoever understand that his position at the club has been terminated forthwith.
