If we were selling Crouch for straight £, what could we realistically expect?
Assuming there's anything in the story full stop - I wonder if Mackie does reject coming north, whether TP would be open to a straight cash deal?

twitter.com/garyjacobonly one (Jones or Crouch) presumably can go, but Mackie also not keen to go as part of the swap

I think Mackie is a perfect Pulis type player. Another Jon Walters. Runs and works hard.
If selling Crouch means we keep KJ then Im all for it as Crouchie's best years are now clearly behind him.

Whoever stays / comes in we need a decent winger to support a goalscorer.
With such a player I would like to see us hang on to either PC or KJ.
It would appear (from the speculation) that KJ isn't prepared to sign a new contract. Fair play to him, he has made the most of his chance in our starting 11. Win win for him, his form means he is a more attractive proposition in the transfer market and we have the chance to recoup some money here.
So let's get some support in for PC - said provider to stay with us once Crouch moves on and is replaced by a promising goalscorer

If K J stays, I could live with Crouch for SWP i.e. Safer With Pulis(or maybe not)!

0947 TRANSFER LATEST Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp on reports linking him with defender Christopher Samba and striker Peter Crouch tells BBC Sport: "These are two players whose names have been mentioned, but at the moment we're not close to doing anything. Crouch's name came up in a meeting with the chairman but I don't think Stoke want to sell him.
"On Samba, again the chairman is dealing with this. At this stage I don't think that's a goer. I like Christopher Samba and he is a very good player but at this stage I don't see him leaving Russia. Things can changes but at this stage we're not close to doing anything."

I'd keep Crouch - at least his goal return is a bit better than Jones over the lasy year or so!
Mackie - not a great goalscorer as shown for club & country at times.

Can't see why if we need ££ to wheel and deal and someone is prepared to put a broadly similar sum down as the market is throwing up for the considerably younger and better-suited Jones? Mind you, the way H operates, he's probably suggesting Crouch and £3m for Mackie!

No mention there of the Mackie element at all.
Maybe it's just straight air miles on Air Asia if TF is the driving force.
Fingers crossed.
(& as said on the other thread, someone better tell H. that we DO want to sell, and quick!)

If the Crouch offer is serious, not moving him on would be looking a gift horse in the mouth.
To compound it by selling KJ would be an utter piss-take.

Amazingly, we ha e our two record signings and within 2.5 and 1.5 years of buying them we're apparently so unimpressed by them both thaf we're considering flogging both of them for much less than we paid.

No, the amazing thing is that this manager is still beyond criticism despite this. It's not just Jones and Crouch, but Kitson, Beattie and Tuncay before that and it looks like he hasn't got much faith in Jerome or Owen either. He's had millions to spend but hasn't been able to better a strikeforce that cost him half a million quid seven years ago. How much more money is Coates going to give him to waste on strikers?

Sam Wallace from the Independent is a mate of Crouch - and ghost-wrote his book. So this will probably be reliable? www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/tottenham-midfielder-scott-parker-joins-peter-crouch-among-qprs-transfer-targets-8471484.htmlHarry Redknapp has offered Queen’s Park Rangers striker Jamie Mackie to Stoke City as part of the deal to sign Peter Crouch - the England striker and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker are key targets for the relegation-threatened club.
Crouch has two years left on his contract at Stoke, where he is the best-paid player in the squad and leaving for a club that could be in the Championship next season is not without its risks. However, QPR is where he launched his professional career in 2000 and the prospect of going back to west London, where he grew up, is tempting.
Much will depend on whether Mackie, 27, who is in his third season at QPR can be persuaded to make the move to Stoke. Tony Pulis is understood to be open to a deal along those lines if Mackie is prepared to come the other way with a fee of around £4m on top. Mackie's style of play is suited to the demands Pulis makes of his players.

Can't we just have six million (valuing Mackie at 2 million)? Six million is so much better.

I think Mackie plus £4m would see us come out easily on the right side of the deal. But Redknapp normally knows what he's doing, so maybe we're (or at least I'm!) missing something!

I wouldn't pay more than 500k for Mackie but he's got Premier League experience, scored some goals etc so has got to be worth a million or two. That is a decent deal, I just don't want another hard worker devoid of skill in the attacking third. I'm sick to the back teeth of them.

No brainier.
Mackie talked about as being worth / offered to Fulham for £3M I think, so £7M for Crouchy is best we'll get.
Doubt they'd do the straight cash for him.
