But it's not just "Gloryhunters" that will leave. This is my 30th year of watching Stoke and the absolute dross hat has been served up at home this season makes me not want to renew my season ticket. I love Stoke City though so no doubt i will renew it at the last minute in hope that Pulis will at last stop being a stubborn twat and pick his best team. But over the period of his managerial reign i have almost completely fallen out of love with football. I really am attending games out of habit this season. Strangely enough Saturday was the first time we have lost and i did not get angry, i simply wasn't that bothered that we had lost ditto

Not being funny, but if you've been going for 30 years you have seen a lot worse standard of football than you have seen this season. Every season people have a moan and say they won't renew, but once you've caught the bug you're knackered Every club has a core of support that will get a season ticket no matter what league the club are in (even deep deep down in League 1 where you had a season ticket not too long ago)

One bad performance and people think we are going down makes me laugh.I like pulis but at times i cant understand why he plays the people he plays.Shotton and woodgate shouldnt of been on the pitch saturday for me.He needs to play his strongest squad and not the squad he gets on with the most. Where does it say we are going down? There are some proper thicko's on this board. ??? and you pop up again

There were two main issues i had with Pulis on Saturday. 1) Pennant not starting. 2) Woody starting. With Pennant, I hope Pulis has got over whatever issue there was with him, and can see he should always start if fully fit. With Woodgate I honestly think that Pulis' hands are tied, there is no way he should be selected RB ahead of Shots or Wilko. I've heard some say that he has a guaranteed start - in this case then RB is the only option TP has (breaking up Huth/ShawX is always fatal). I've also heard rumour of some sort of agreements being made after Woody helped bring Crouch to the club. Whatever the situation, it needs sorting in the best interests of the club - cos at the minute Woody at RB definitely harms us. I also walked away from the Brit saturday thinking, pretty much every player who played at Wembley vs. Bolton was available to start against WBA. If that team selection had been put out we would have battered them Re having to play Woodgate, I didn't realise that such an agreement / contract can be made with a player especially one who has come to us on a free transfer(not sure that makes a difference)? I respect Woodgate, but as previously mentioned it is unfair to judge him as a right back - he is too slow for that position. Huth wasn't too effective there either BUT Huth has been so much more effective back in the centre with Shawcross. There isn't really a place for him in our starting 11! Is there any way out of this arrangement if it's true? Do we have to give him some sort of compensation to change the situation? It may be worth it as he cost us no transfer fee. I know he is not nominated in our Europa squad - probably a good thing. Last seasons success was extra special, yes it raises expectations which is good - consistency is something that we need to improve on right now

There are some really stupid posts on this thread from people who feel that they have to stick up for Pulis no matter what he does.
The original poster makes a fair point, and it will not be just the fickle who stop going. Its two days after the game and I am still massively angry about the team selection and tactics on Saturday. I would like to know if any of you Pulis apologists are in complete agreement with Woodgate playing right back or Shotton playing on the wing when we have one of the best wingers in the land sat on the bench. Please tell us how that is good team selection.
Now back to the original point. Once people start not to renew season tickets it will become much easier for people to pick and choose their games based upon how we are playing and approaching games (long standing fans) and also who the opposition is (gloryhunters), as a result attendances will drop quite quickly. Anybody who thinks that is good is wishing ill will on the CLUB and is not a Stoke supporter.
Pulis said that the style would evolve as we became more established and were able to attract and afford better players. The last three home games have been as bad as anything since we were promoted. They have been bad though not because of the lack of quality in the squad but mainly because of the bizzare team selection.
You expect that you might lose games because the opposition are better, or because of bad luck, or because you get shafted by the officials. But you do not expect to lose because you get shafted by your own manager!

Gods maybe im different i will put up with the dross we produce if we get half decent results. Watching us fuck about like a dog with a ballon against mediocre opposition at home is different with square pegs in round holes ,using negative tacticts at home i wont. Neither will people less engrained in stoke City than me. Yeah, I know what you are saying and I can see there are some examples of folks who feel like that below. But it is my belief that folks looking for a way out will find a way out, it doesn't really matter what they blame it on in the end. New fans are always coming on board and old ones drifting away, that's the nature of the beast!

The majority of the fans who turn on Pulis as soon as something goes wrong are either a bit special or only been going since 2008 and haven't got a clue about how low we've been in the past 20 years. In a way i'm glad the "glory-hunters" go down to fill up the stadium but I cannot listen to their opinions, I just disregard what they say. Like the bloke who I sat next to last season. Nice fella and all that but only knew anything about us since we got promoted and only ever visited the brit since 2008 (aged 50+). I had to change seats and the bloke I sit next to now is top class. The crowds may dip slightly but only in the hundreds. I will renew my season ticket every year because I stick with my club through thick and thin, since 1992 (aged 9). We'll be with you every step along the way!

Many are simply going more often now and have bought season tickets as its a cheaper, easier way of ensuring a seat. Many have been there through the wank times but simply selected their matches rather than go to them all. The 'fuck em theyre all glory hunters' are as stupid as the 'fuck off Pulis' brigade in my book.

That is not right Borat. Its not even any where near right. There aren't many fans that dont appreciate what Pulis has done for this club or know that our status and achivements couldn't have been forseen in our wildest dreams only 10 years ago. Tony Pulis has done a great job but couldn't have done any of it without the reborn Peter Coates. We are where we are and no one is going to be unhappy with league position or europe or FAC final etc, or what TP has done for the club. There might be a few crazy people who want him sacked but most of the people who are disgruntled now just want him to change, to evolve as he promised us he would. Just spouting where we are in the league or what we have achieved is no defence for trying to be clever and picking players in the wrong position or not playing your best team in important games against opposition you expect to beat. Saturday 1st half was dire and the whole trip cost me £250 . The fullback / midfield problem still needs to be sorted with new players this week ? we are stoke and could we win/draw manure next week? yes ! who would be a stoke city supporter ? us lot until we die and after. As for numbers dropping, I doubt it, when we win Derby and valencia.

I would love us to play attractive football and it pisses me off a lot but I just think Pulis is too stubborn to change it. Hope i'm wrong mind.

I think folk will find its ( mostly ) the long standing core support who are becoming restless with the current "fayre" on display and its ( mostly ) the "newer" supporter who is happy with their lot and the ones who will walk away again if we ever got relegated again and will then not give two hoots who the manager is?
all imo of course

I honestly used to enjoy going stoke as much in the old days as I do now, but in different ways! The day out experience now outweighs the shite served up at the brit, whereas in the dark days it was more about the football and the battle to get back to the top flight. Can't live with him, can't live without him! ;D

The football has been crap this season, and yes it has been far worse in the not to distant past. The point is, the football shouldn't be as bad as it currently is considering the amount of money spent. It would be far easier to take if we were playing our best players, but we aren't and it is very frustrating.

I too made my first visit to the Victoria ground in the fifties, and started going on a more regular basis in 63 or 64 and I'm happy to be categorised as a "glory hunter". It means to me that I want Stoke to be successful and be recognised for that success. I can only imagine that the few on this board who sneer at wanting "glory" for Stoke, are either Vale supporters who are insanely jealous, or very weird and sad people who cannot handle the fact that Stoke City are enjoying one of the most successful periods in their long history. Maybe they're people who are more used to achieving nothing, so feel more comfortable in basking in refected failure.

Well you must have been on holiday when me and the rest of the 14-15000 at the Vic witnessed some awful, awful home games that season, the cherry on the cake was the home game against Reading (we lost 0-2). Stoke didn't even know how to move forward, it was 90 mins of Ray Wallace running around trying to kick people, that was our only form of attack ;D Reading were just as bad, but still managed to bundle two over the line. Still, at least it couldn't get any worse right? Chic Bates and Kamara to look forward to after that shit fest! ;D

Totally agree with what BristolMick said.
His team selection on Saturday WAS the reason we lost. No doubts in mind about that. I am still pissed off at it now verging on fuming. There was no reason whatsoever to be negative. We are fairly comfortable playing a mid table side at home who were there for the beating and missing one or two key men. It took West Brom 20 minutes to suss that we were there for the taking. We played on the back foot because we played like an away team because we played the away stoke tactics. We dropped off far to deep all game. Delap and Shawcross spent most of the game in each others shadows.
One more point... It was obvious that at half time we needed a Pennant on. Why does Pulis wait till 65 -70 minutes to change it??
That extra game time with Pennant on could of made all the difference. An early 2nd half goal and a chance to build momentum rather than only kicking on on 70 mins onwards...
Extremely frustrating.

Plenty of people on here are acting like the club is at an all time low rather than one of the best times to be a fan in 30 years at least. Would I like to see the manager pick a different team? Yes. Would I like us to attack more and pass it more? Absolutely. Would I rather see us play shit football and get a point at Anfield than play shit football and lose at Sixfields? Crowds WILL fall. Simply because, in the present climate, Stoke City will never be better than what we are. There's no chance of regular European football, there's a very small chance of a return to Wembley in the next ten years, there is the aim of a top half finish and that is it.
People will get bored, they'll get even more fickle, and if mid-table is all we can realistically achieve then fans will start to want a better standard of football for their money.
Also, fans have got every right to complain about the West Brom game. It's a lot of money to see that rubbish. But maybe we're reaching the point I've just talked about?
