I've been following this thread with interest since its inception, and although I won't be in Kiev for the game I can see that all you Stokies that are making the trip will have a fabulous time!! This sort of thing is great...........fans of opposing teams mingling with each other via the wonders of the internet before the game. Arena Citi Basseyna 2A, Kiev The sports bar is located on the first floor of the complex, in summer there is a big screen installed outside opposite the terrace. I'm going to be in there tomorrow night. Getting the 12.40 from Luton, arriving in Kiev at 17.50 so by the time I've got to my accommodation, had some food and got my bearings it should only be an hour or so to kick-off in the Champions League games (21.45pm their time?). www.arena-kiev.com/eng/ |

Another Dynamo supporter here..
I live in Scotland so won't be in Kyiv for this match, but Den's on the money. Respect the locals and they will take great care of you. Ukraine is a beautiful country and you will all love it, reading these comments is making me slightly jealous I can't be there(.
Have a pint of Slavutich on me, stay safe and enjoy yourselves..shame I can't find anywhere in Britain that sells this beer!
Maybe I'll drink beer for Den when I go to your stadium for the return match? I can't wait..maybe 200 supporters will be there. For the reason Den said. I think, it depends on the importance of the match.

Sound. We're in City Center Hostel right on a big main square. It's North east of the Lybid but I'm sure we can get a taxi to your hotel for whatever time on the Thursday.

Lybid Hotel is in Peremohy Square. You cannot miss it, such big building.
It's centre of Kyiv. It's between Shevchenka and Peremohy, on the same street as the Cathedral.

Update from Kyiv!!!  We ve got the ground for a Kyiv-Stoke supporters match!!!! It s at the artificial surface pitch, there are showers & locker-rooms! And it s just 150 UAH/hour (about 12 pounds)!! Not per person, but from ALL! We ve got also info about 25-seater! Volvic - we ve got very acceptable price! younghope - hi! вітаю! я б хотів передати тобі пляшечку-другу Славутича! Серйозно! Address of the pitch (one of the closest buildings) - Вул. Архітектора Вербицького, 7 (Arkhitektora Verbytskoho Str., 7)! We should take all the Stokies close to Lybid-hotel, I think, & move by our bus to the ground. Time of our reservation 12-30 - 13-30. So, we need to move from Lybid at 11-30. Ok? |

Sushiya (Сушия) - is the chain of restaurants (about 15 in Kyiv). My advice for a meeting-place - Sushiya at вул. Велика Житомирська, 6/11 (Velika Zhitomirska Str., 6/11). I think this Sushiya is a nice option, because it s in the centre, but not in the very centre. & it s not connected with football. Just a place to relax, drink some beer & eat sthg. BTW, Rob, it s just in about 200 m from your hotel! And since we d like to meet at 3pm (5 hours till the game!), there could be time to move later to other - more "football-oriented" place (some pub!). What do you think? Or you d prefer to go to the pub at once? Than - let s change destination. Perfect Den, as you suggest on Velika Zhitomirska Str, lets meet there and see if we want to go somewhere else afterwards? Thanks Den - you're a star! sound Rob .Sushiya at 3pm looks like we going there then mate. Den - ive got last seasons stoke home shirt if you want to do a swap? |

Just got back from a weeks holiday in Odessa in the Ukraine, really enjoyed it... everything is dirt cheap and really nice people.
If Kiev is the same, Stoke fans will have a great time (treat the place with respect)

Do most of the Dinamo fans think that the Stoke game will be easy because we have no recent European experience at this level, or do they see Stoke as a difficult game because of our Premier League status ?

I think it s like 50/50. On the one hand - Stoke is almost unknown in Ukraine & people are still dreaming of sthg like "Dynamo-Barca" or "Dynamo-Real" etc.
On the other hand - it s an English team - and it s interesting to play with you!
I think people are not sure what to expect, but mostly believe Kyiv should win no doubt!
As for me, I think we should win, but it s certainly not easy-one!!

(do you know if your players will have practised for the throws??) |
