1. TP is doing a fantastic job and there is no reason to get rid of him without becoming the laughing stock of the country. 2. Martin O'Neill spent a hell of a lot of money at Villa by taking them from 10th to 6th So you actually think the country would be laughing at us if we replaced Pulis with O'Neil. I'm not even sure they'd be perplexed as I was at Blackburn replacing Allardyce with Kean. By the way there is a chasm of difference between finishing 6th and 10th and the sum of it is a lot more than 4 places for those who stare at tables but understand little else. I do What reason do we have to sacl TP?

Someone said O'Neil spent a lot at Villa but there was some figures on here showing us to have spent the 3rd amount since been prmoted to the prem, he has had a lot of money and bought some good players, and made a lot of mistakes as well, but that's managers.
As DaveJohnson said, no Stoke team should ever go out thinking we have bob hope of winning and just to keep the score down, or at best snatch a draw and that's what we did on Wed and have done in some other games since promotion. I think it's fair to say 90% of fans would have played 4-4-2 with Etherington, Pennant and 2 strikers.
It would be nice if we knew if Tone actually got to hear about how we felt about what happened on Wed, or does Tone and Coates not care? The fans views should mean something, and to be honest at times it doesn't come across that it does. Yes, we don't pick the team or tactics, but our support will drop if we carry on doing things like that on Wed and they should be worried if that does start to happen.
The other point I have is Fuller is missing tomorrow so he could have played Wed couldn't he? They would have known when the funeral was, so he wouldn;t have needed resting as he didn't start Sunday either?
He shouldn't be sacked but I think its fair to say the pressure is on him a bit? My Uncle has always been a massive Tony Pulis fan, but even he can see why fans are beginning to turn and said the way we approach certain games does nothing for him. Tomorrows game is massive as not only do we need a win, we need a good performance. He should be given the opportunity to take us into the 4th season so we can see what the next plan of action is. He has done a superb job but that doesn't mean he's not exempt from criticism or worse!

I'm racking my brains trying to work out at what point the manager felt the need to regress back to this shit and why? We were playing some good stuff with TWO proper wingers. We were potent, effective, lively and dynamic. We weren't high-risk or particularly open at the back. And now, this. WHY? Spot on there. spot on pal

Pressure on Pulis? What pressure?
I must be going to different games then. I hear nothing around me or in general that the crowd chant about wanting him to go.
Basically its people who didnt like him the first time around looking for the ideal opportunity to stick the knife in. It must really stick in those peoples throats that Pulis has got us to the Prem and is doing a good job of establishing us there.
I agree there are certain things that are annoying, like us not going out to play to our strengths and believing that we are good enough to win certain games, like at Liverpool the other night. But lets get real here, we are in the Prem holding our own most weeks and there arent many clubs who come in to the Prem and look to be comfortable after such a relatively short time period.
We would be crazy to start turning on the manager at games and get on his back.

I cant remember who said it wether it was Curbishley or Coppell, but one of them said that you budget to get a certain amount of points, in this case TP has set a target of 40 points. Against your sides like Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal way etc, you don't include them in your points target. i.e. get to 40 points without taking any from these sides. But, anything you get against them is a bonus, so what is the harm in going for it against these teams. WBA did it and got points, as did Hull and Blackpool very nearly. Now we have the squad to do the double over the likes of Blackburn, West Brom etc, so instead of just throwing in the towel, do something different and attack these teams.

I think you are deluding yourself if you imagine that the football world would laugh about us choosing to change manager in an attempt to move to the next stage of our development as an ambitious Premier League club. His limitations as a manager would be the reason but that would not make it fair or just because nobody can seriously argue he deserves the sack. It would be a brutal decision, I just happen to believe it would serve us well.

Will it come to the point after our 4th season (should we not get relegated) that the club actually outgrows Pulis? As we have outgrown a number of players from our promotiom team and still continue to do so. I hope he proves me wrong but i'm not convinced. You've hit the nail on the head - the club has outgrown Pulis. With players like Pennant, Tuncay and Etherington we went from a team that was probably performing better than its constituent parts to a team that is now performing worse than its constituent parts - that is directly down to Pulis - time to hand over the reigns.

"I think TP has taken us as far as he can as a club."This is a very interesting statement. As far as he can.......Is TP with his weird, defensive footballing philosophy, combined with a distinctly stubburn personality, at all able to take us to a higher level? Perhaps not! ![:o](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/7TTgAtwUz19SBi0cvrCX.gif) Based on what we've all seen over the past 2.5 years in the Premier League, does anyone think that Tone is a) Willing to change his gameplan to accomodate creative players or b) Even able to divert from his one dimensional gameplan? I can't see us ever doing better than mid table with our current tactic (singular), no matter which players we have in the team. So basically, the question i ask myself is 'Is TP able to change, adapt and evolve along with the team should we bring in higher class players?' and the answer to that so far is a resounding 'No'. I'm more than happy to give TP this season (3 year consolidation complete) and next season (no more excuses) to prove that he has what it takes to take this club forwards. I don't particularly care about finishing in a higher league position. I just want to see some more football being played and some improvement on the pitch. Will it come to the point after our 4th season (should we not get relegated) that the club actually outgrows Pulis? As we have outgrown a number of players from our promotiom team and still continue to do so. I hope he proves me wrong but i'm not convinced. (Blue) That's exactly what I fear. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/vEIFeJPtIIq1awrUd6zP.gif) Did TP as a manager actually reach the peak in his carreer on November 13th with 2-0 against Liverpool? Time will tell.

I've never heard such a load of bollocks, you pricks should be ashamed to call yourself fans, do you really think chanting for pulis out will achieve anything other than destroying the morale of the team. Bunch of glory hunting wankers should fuck off if you don't like it. Pretty football equals relegation for a lot of weaker teams like stoke

People said he would not save us from relegation, but he proved them wrong. People said he would not finish midtable in the Championship, but he proved them wrong. People said he would not win promotion from the Championship, but he proved them wrong. People said he would not save us from relegation, but he proved them wrong. People said he would not save us from relegation again, but he proved them wrong. O'neil DIDN'T play good football at Villa! Thats part of the attraction. He played direct football albeit of a more attacking brand than Pulis. He could work with the players we have and change things as he identifies and signs next level players.

Ive had enough, ill be there again saturday but fed up now of Pulis and if he went tomorrow i would be happy. Who feels the same ? If you dont feel like this dont comment, out of interest. Out of interest, why can't anybody comment if they don't feel like this? ;D Do you want a whole thread with a completely one-sided feel to try and make it have more foundation? Personally i like Tone, always have and always will. He's a true professional who's passionate about our football club and incredibly dedicated and hard working. He also has a good sense of humour and is very good with the media which seems to be a rarity these days. However his negative and dull as dishwater football tactics do get reet on my tits. ;D I'd really miss him if he left tomorrow and therefore i shall carry on clutching at my straws hoping that he will one day have a eureka moment and grow some fucking balls. C'mon Tone, you can do it mate. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/0m0lbCuTEBzaRn6f8QaM.gif)

Amazed by how many people on here are saying they want him gone. i know we've just lost, played awful, and emotions are a bit raw, but come on... TP drives me up the wall sometimes...I can't fathom what he's trying to do with some of his teams, and then when he finally hits on a winning formula (usually one that involves a bit more attacking ambition), it only takes one defeat and he's back to playing scared-football again. It's frustrating as fuck. However, despite this, we've had two mid-table finishes and are on course for another, despite the recent losses. Us sacking Pulis would be viewed by the wider football world as an act of ungrateful madness to match Blackburn's dismissal of Allardyce. He needs to stay, but get back to playing a balanced 4-4-2 like we were earlier in the season. Absolutely spot on Trouserdog....yes he is incredibly frustrating at times but are we really that fickle that we should sack our manager based on a few bad results after 3 years of progress?

The arguement that IF supporters wanted TP out then we would be a laughing stock nationally is an interesting one as the reason we are so unpopular with the national media is due to TP and his tactics!
Surely it would be the opposite as they should be supporting the stance?
So obviously, according to the media, we should be jumping through hoops about where we are but must be mad to go and watch it. Now I am confused myself!!??

Tp has manged to get us into the top flight and keep us here, he has been with the team now through thick and thin and losing him could be a bad thing (at the moment), like many his tactics have started to wear thin with me and his sheer stuborness really fustrates me but I will continue to support him even though his decisions are bizzaire becuse he has achieved two mid-table finishes which is no mean feat and brought in some better players. Although it really annoys me when people are criticized for simply wanting to play someting other than hoofball or have a more creative team and all they get are replies of 'What next. you want to play like Brazil!', we just need our team sorting out in some areas to maintain our status and the higher we finish the better, Pulis is a decent enough manager to keep us here there is no need to be wanting him out.

In TP we trust. got a fantastic relationship with Sir Peter and is changing this club in the right direction. things wont change overnight but he has gradually improved the squad year on year. not many people on hear can remember a team or squad as good as this. the grass isnt always greener on the other side.
i for one are pretty proud to be a potter at the moment and will be singing tonys name tomorrow and every gamebecause he is one of the main reasons we are where we are and will continue to be for some time
come on you rip roaring potters.
