I am a Pulis supporter , but like many on here I feel embarrassed this morning after watching us roll over to a Liverpool side that is still average by their standards.
I like that fact that we can defend well, it would just be nice if we tried to attack with more than one striker and an occasional midfielder at times. I felt sorry for the players last night, particularly Carew, who seemed frustrated at the way they were being asked to play.
After the Man Utd game Tony stated that it shows that we are getting there, last night his tactics seemed to take us back a few years. Roll on Saturday with fingers crossed that Fuller starts, we play two wingers, forget Diao and Kenwyne plays to his full potential.

Pulis has had his day and we all appreciate it.But if we want to progress or even stabilise our position we must imo have a deep think about the way the club is going. We are becoming an embarrassment with our style of play and attitude towards football. With respectable players such as Tunny and Eider publicly criticising our style of play and lack of ability to evolve it doesn't promote our club in attracting footballers does it?I have had enough, Stoke forever not Pulis. Agree with this, he's got the tools at his disposal but doesn't seem to want to or cannot use them. I've never warmed to him, his style and his hypocrisy and favourites etc. but he got us here with PC's and our money, and he was well paid for it. We, the fans are the paying customer and we are entitled to complain about dodgy goods ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/3zptH1h3SvRnVmRGLyMP.gif) All this bollocks about 3 games in 6 days, these are young, very fit professionals. I'm 49 and have run 55 miles in a week, I'm not going to worry Kip Kano but for £30k I'd play 3 games in 6 days ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/MK1XRTh9jLIKdOoyx512.gif) tony has proved you and the PHW'S wrong time and time again. and you make out pulis is the only manager that moans about fixture congestion? EVERY MANAGER MOANS ABOUT IT, so perhaps there may be something in it?

To be fair to TP, he seldom complains about fixture congestion and I recall an interview he did over Xmas, in which he could see no excuse for players unable to play several games in a short period.

Fuck me. If they can't play a few games of football in a week it's utterly pathetic. I'd like to see how they would manage doing a week of shifts down the pit. They are supposed to be fit professionals for fucks sake. If they are not up to a few games in a week they should fuck off and sit in a petrol station ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/MK1XRTh9jLIKdOoyx512.gif)

But sossage has a point. Three ninety minutes of effort in seven days is a doddle. They should try working in a crutting team down the pit, working in 100 degrees temperature, up to your knees in water, hardly able to breath, and then do it the next day... and the next day... and the next day... etc. And, yes, I have done it, and it makes me laugh when these 'athletes' who are paid an absolute fortune start to moan because they're asked to put in 4 1/2 hours of proper effort a week!

I don't think the players have been moaning, have they ? I reckon they would happily play 3 games in a week, it's TP who has been doing the moaning.

Low budget? Are you being serious? I don't think it's been that low Nick, think what he has spent since promotion and I bet he's spent more than at least 1/2 the prem clubs. Wages may not be as high as some, but 40k wage limit is 4x Blackpool's and they are only just behind us. He's wasted a lot of money and wasted some talents such as Eidur & Tuncay. He's in severe danger if performances don't pick up! If Pulis went I'd be preparing myself for Championship football in 2 years, not many managers can get the results on such a low budget.

Regarding Pulis; he comes from The Valleys, so he should know better. Those Taffs down there would also laugh at the idea that Pro footballers are hard done to. I've worked with some of them, and they could match a Polack for grit and effort. herk... no need for apologies. I didn't take umbrage at what you said. I was just affirming what sossage said. I knew you were being ironic. OS.

What has changed in the game for teams playing an entire season with 16/17 players ???? We will be like American Football soon, Offence for Home matches and DDDDDefence for away fixtures. Players don't seem to be able to last a match let alone play 3 in a week, seriously has the game changed that much ?

I'd give fucking anything to be paid even the minimum wage to play 3 games of football a week never mind the astronomical sums the players get nowadays.

Most Stokies would play for nothing and put a damn sight more effort in than some of these fucking wasters.
Of course they'd get hammered but what the hell .... At least they'd run until they bled.

it will only take a few to start pulis out chants if things go bad on saturday and i think 70% of fans will join in If this happens ill get up and walk right out. we'd be the laughing stock of the league, from loudest, most passionate fans to ridiculously fickle eve whilst the sides actual performance (points and league position) improve

Not missed a single game all season, but in the last three weeks have spent £110 on tickets (Cardiff, Fulham, Wolves and Liverpool), before even taking travel into consideration, and have seen hardly any attacking intent at all
The FA Cup games, I can understand team selection, and with a difficult run of away games, didnt really expect much more than we have got (would have taken a draw at Fulham), but the away support is phenomenal considering the dross that is served up for us
It is a difficult balancing act, and I suppose the right result on Saturday would go some way to justifying a rest for Delap and Ethers, but the introduction of Daio really takes the piss
I am no big Whelan fan, and dont think he justifies a place in the side, but surely an international midfielder can give you more than Diao, especially against a slick passing side like Liverpool
I really like the look of Carew, who again had an impossible task last night, with Walters playing so deep, but why as soon as we go a goal down, do we bring on a defensive midfielder
It is these sort of decisions that make you wonder why you make the effort, and as stated, who would bet against Mama forcing his way back into the side
Disheartened definately, but still well placed for a mid table finish and a victory against Brighton away from a second successive FA Cup quarter final just about keeps the juices flowing

Had enough? No
Getting pissed with his mentalness? Yes
I don't know what he's trying to do but it makes no sense. Lots of baffling selection decisions but also selling Tunny with no real replacement. Madness.
And if anyone starts, I like Carew but he isn't and shouldn't be a replacement for a nippy striker, totally different players that will play in different positions for us.

I really think Pulis will/could benefit with a really good assistant, like when he had Reid, other than Dave "yes mr Pulis" Kemp.

There's a lot of pre menstrual or pre pubescent mardarses on this board. Lose away to Liverpool and its "sack the manager!" If we force Pulis out of this club we will be the most mocked fans in the country.
Great idea to get rid of our most succesful manager in 35 years.
You lot can be summed up by one post "I'm thinking of going to watch Crewe" - written by SCFC Loyalist. Loyal - my arse.

I'm trying to keep a balanced view here. I cannot deny what Pulis has achieved but overall I've hated the football we've played. It's not just a results business it's supposed to have a modicum of entertainment thrown in for good measure.
Thrown the Alan Durban/Clowns quote in here people.
I made this point a coupe of weeks ago - by my reckonning that's 100 Prem games and 100 goals. Not edge of the seat stuff is it. If finishing 17th is viewed as success then bollocks to it, I'll happily take take top 8 in the Championship trying to achieve something positive. Not saying that's Stoke's fault, that's the be all and end all of the status of this wanky league we're in.
Like others on here I don't want Pulis sacked but I do want him to throw the shackles off. Can't say I'm overwhelmed at the thought of Saturday but I'll be there hoping for the best but expecting what's become the norm.

i love stoke city, but am finding it very hard to put up with this appalling standard of our great game, salif diao has done his bit, but surely you don't pick him against liverpool away. i cannot believe he put collins at left back when he came on( he's a left back like i'm a millionaire) cleaned up from what i really want to say about him. why he couldn't put ethers and pennant on baffles me( they get well paid for playing football, not sitting on the bench. jon walters looks no more than a championship player to me(although i'm prepared to give him a chance over the long term).wilko, love the lad(but he's still got a lot to learn).whitehead would be ok with a decent midfieid player alongside him. the team looks totally disjointed to me. could go on forever(totally frustrated!!!!

Still fully behind the manager but I must admit going away is getting to be a bit of a drag if you don't get pissed and make a proper day of it. I can't see any sense in getting rid of TP and if even his staunchest critics are honest, the guy deserves the opportunity to prove them wrong. This isn't to say he doesn't make me want to head butt the wall when I've spent vast sums of cash going away from home and it isn't to say that I don't criticise some of the daft shit that he does either. However we are a million miles off thinking about getting rid in my opinion. Well said Jamo someone on this thread who actually GOES with abit of sense.

Out.
