Do emergency loans count? as on one of the owls forums they are saying their radio station seems to think that 1 or a couple of these loans are emergency loans and they dont count?

no because any loan after the January window is a emergency loan ie ameobi, bothroyd, riggott etc would of meant we could of had Zak and Gally on the bench.
so that is bollocks

Just got back. Heard this news filtering through on the coach. As the Sentinel states, we tinkered with our 16 to comply with the rules- no Gally/Zakuani. Two of their loanees were influential- Songo'o scored the winner and the introduction of Showmuni turned the game (although this is irrelevant) I do think we could have a case of a 3-0 victory being awarded to us. An example- if you have five players sent off the opposing side is automatically awarded a 3-0 win. Come on FA- you know what to do

"But it is unlikely any penalty would include Stoke being granted any extra league points as recompense for any breaking of the law."
Leave it out guys.
Lets regroup and concentrate our efforts to the Palace Match.
3 points there and we are certainly going up!

SIOCH but leeds lost using a illegal player no advantage gained.
we lost points due to them using a illegal player and that is the story we should all be sticking too, if you can just break rules then why have them.
HOW can this be fair to us and the other teams around the relegation zone you tell me. we need to inform the other teams in the bottom 6 also tbh

Here's my effort:
Dear Sir
I write to you in connection with the Sheffield Wednesday v Stoke City fixture played this afternoon (29.3.08)
In a week where we have just passed the loan deadline, we were all aware that there is a maximum of five loanees allowed in the matchday squad.
Adhering to the rules, Stoke City dropped Paul Gallagher and Gabriel Zakuani from the matchday 16 (on loan from Blackburn and Fulham respectively)
Sheffield Wednesday named SIX loanees in there squad: Frank Songo'o (Portsmouth), Bartosz Slusarski (West Brom), Graham Kavanagh (Sunderland), Adam Bolder (QPR), Ben Sahar (Chelsea) and Enoch Showumni (Bristol City).
With Stoke on their way to an important victory (in their quest to a very welcome money spinning promotion to the Premier League) they were denied all three points through a strike from one of the six loanees (Songo'o)
I point you to the following rule: 47.3.1 A maximum of 5 loan Players (either Short Term or Long Term) can be named in the sixteen Players listed on a team sheet for any individual Match. This figure shall include any additional loan of a goalkeeper approved by the Executive under the provisions of Regulation 49.
This is a clear breach of the rules set down at the start of the campaign.
Unless you take strong action, we could see many clubs across the country breaking the rules in a similar fashion over the coming weeks.
I urge you to think seriously about the punishment before another team suffers in the same way as Stoke City have done today.
Perhaps the punishment will be an award of all three points to Stoke, similar to that if a team were to have four players sent off (3-0 victory)
I eagerly anticipate your thoughts on this matter
Kind Regards
James Knowles, Eccleshall

They will get a fine.
Points are RARELY given out, we didn't lose points because of them using an illegal player, we lost points because we didn't put our chances away.

As someone mentioned earlier, the fact Leeds didn't benefit points-wise was apparently taken into account and the FA accepted some bizarre "mitigating factors". Here, I wouldn't have thought there were any, bizarre or otherwise. Wednesday clearly benefitted. They got a point, and the direct actions of one of the 6 cost us 2 pts. www.clarets-mad.co.uk/news/loadnews.asp?cid=TMNW&id=314289Bury got chucked out of the Cup for fielding an ineligible player. Surely a simialr breach in effect. They fielded a 16 they simply weren't allowed to.

Historically Sheff Wed will get punished we'll get nowt if the FA are consistent! * Preston North End 1 point deducted for fielding an ineligible player - Season 1973-74. * Newport County 1 point deducted for fielding an ineligible player - Season 1973-74. * Blackpool 2 points deducted for fielding an ineligible player - Season 1982-83. * Leyton Orient 2 points deducted for fielding an ineligible player - Season 1997-98.

If they stay up by 1 point and we miss out auto prom and lose playoffs---how fair is that to everyone affected?

they might only get a fine but imagine if barnsley, southampton or leicester were to be relegated by 1 point and sheff wed were the team who finished 4th from bottom. you cant gain from breaking the rules its simply not fair haha snap armitage.

Interesting, i wonder if they'd take a harder line given that one of the players directly influenced the out come of the game.
