owlzat, If thats true then Stoke's coaching staff don't know the rules, they spoke about it pre-match. No one in their sane minds would put Gallagher in the stands and Buxton on the bench, as we did today, unless the rules dictated otherwise. I'm just gutted that FullerMagic didn't spot it during the game and the message spread to the ground. Would have been interesting.

There is a limit of 5 players being on the pitch at the same time but we subbed one for another so never exceeded this. Here's something else for you to grasp at ................ read this tosspot, its the fa rules on loan players No club can send out more than six players on long-term loans during a season. A club can take a maximum of four loan players (short-term and long-term combined) from any one club during a season. A club is able to name a maximum of five loan players (short-term and long-term combined) in the 16 players listed on the team sheet for a game

First Post. Really Pi**ed off with this so decided to email the Football League:
Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to inform you of a breach of the football league rules in the game on the 29th of March at Hillsborough where Sheffield Wednesday drew 1-1 with Stoke City. Sheffield Wednesday broke the league rules by including 6 loan players in their matchday squad. Unlike the Leeds case a few years back, Sheffield Wednesday did gain an unfair advantage from the rule breach and all the loan players featured in the game itself. Being a Stoke City fan I know that my team dropped Paul Gallagher (on loan from Blackburn Rovers) and Gabriel Zakuani (on loan from Fulham) for this fixture. This meant that our squad was weakened by adhereing to the rules. Please respond as I feel that my team, and my fellow supporters, have been wronged by this breach of the rules. Yours Sincerely, Rob Ellis (Stoke Fan)

47.3.1 A maximum of 5 loan Players (either Short Term or Long Term) can be named in the sixteen Players listed on a team sheet for any individual Match. This figure shall include any additional loan of a goalkeeper approved by the Executive under the provisions of Regulation 49. There is nothing to say, one way or the other, what the true penalty is ... the League can decide depending on how bad they think the crime is ... however, "changing a result" does not seem to be an option (docking points is). 76.2 A decision may: 76.2.1 order a party to do or refrain from doing anything 76.2.2 order a specific performance 76.2.3 make a declaration on any matter to be determined 76.2.4 order rectification setting aside or cancellation of a contract or other document 76.2.5 order the payment of money to one or more of the parties 76.2.6 issue a reprimand or warning as to the future conduct of a party 76.2.7 order compensation 76.2.8 order a suspension of membership of The League 76.2.9 order a deduction of points 76.2.10 impose a financial penalty payable to The League 76.2.11 recommend expulsion from membership of The League 76.2.12 order a withdrawal or loss of benefit otherwise available to members of The League e.g. basic award or ladder payment 76.2.13 impose an embargo on registration of Players 76.2.14 order any other sanction as the FDC may think fit 76.2.15 order that interest be payable on any sums awarded under this Regulation for such period and at such rates as the FDC thinks fit. But as the Daft Burger points out, neither was changing who qualified from a cup tie. 76.2.14 order any other sanction as the FDC may think fit - Give us the three points!! Disallowed goal by illegal player ... So you never know ... get penning them emails ... ah (sorry League Rules)

Its easy to get hysterical about this with our league position, but it really isn't on is it? That one of the Sheffield Six scored a late equaliser rubs salt in. I know a draw may have been a fair result, but thats irrelevant - those 2 points will be crucial. We need to kick up a stink and at least make someone make a decision on it.
Starting with 6-0-6 I reckon.

We've got a decent case. The Wendies have cheated, effectively. And to add further salt into the wound, one of the loanees has popped up with the goal.

Let's hope the punishment is closer to Bury than Leeds. This could be interesting.

i'm sorry FullerMagic we dont want a replay as it could mean we are on less points than we are now the Football League will now have to either give us a 3-0 win (yes please) or fine them. And as they gained from breaking the rules i dont see how they got a leg to stand on!!

Come on, owlzat.
You'd be doing just the same in the circumstances. Nothing against Wednesday - but someone in your administration has dropped a colossal howler and heads need to roll.
It is cheating, isn't it?

Grapey,
Leeds lost anyway so in their instance the cheats 'didn't prosper'.
In this case and in the Bury case, they have cheated to gain an advantage.
We need to email the Championship, get a bit of coverage on there.

I agree sour grapes but rules are rules i'm afraid. True but if that was the case then Stoke may have been reduced to 10 men or even 9 in the first half for awful tackles
