View AttachmentCatholic doesn't equal homophobe. Ireland was the first country to legalise gay marriage via a referendum. Yes so the priests could have a peace of mind when abusing the young lads. You do know that paedophilia and homosexuality are completely different things, right?

It's bizarre. I can very much see the point of the rainbow laces campaign. Football attracts a huge amount of young men (both gay and straight) and the highest suicide rates are amongst young, gay men. I don't see an issue with something that might make young gay men in the crowd who are struggling feel at least a little bit more accepted when they see the players choosing to wear those laces. People don't think of the potential consequences of the things they say and their reaction to something as harmless and innocuous and rainbow laces. It can be the straw that finally breaks someones back. Totally agree with all of that, but do you not think the politicization of this has gone a little far? You are absolutely right about male suicide being the biggest killer of men under the age of 40, yet you yourself turn this into an identity politics issue by saying it's a bigger problem among gay men. I've not seen this, so I would like to see the stats on it before we once again ostracize the straight male population which has been all but shunned by society these days. I would love for it not to be an issue but it has been, and for a long time. Don't get me wrong, all young men need more support when it comes to mental health but those who are gay are even more vulnerable to these issues. Sadly it is even MORE common in young men who are gay (or bisexual): www.mentalhealth.org.uk/statistics/mental-health-statistics-lgbt-peoplepublichealthmatters.blog.gov.uk/2017/07/06/mental-health-challenges-within-the-lgbt-community/It's even worse when it comes to trans kids: www.theguardian.com/education/2017/jun/27/half-of-trans-pupils-in-the-uk-tried-to-take-their-own-lives-survey-finds

Oh no will Mr McClean wear them with his strong Catholic beliefs. Or will he give a statement about his beliefs and upset Block 19. Attachment DeletedCatholic doesn't equal homophobe. Ireland was the first country to legalise gay marriage via a referendum.

I've no idea mate. No one is forcing anyone to wear them. It even makes them angry as well. I just don't get it. It's bizarre. I can very much see the point of the rainbow laces campaign. www.stokecityfc.com/news/potters-backing-rainbow-laces-campaignIf LGBT people want to attend football matches, crack on- I don't think anyone would bat an eyelid. What people do find irritating though is unnecessary virtue-signalling (IMHO of course). I can't imagine rainbow-coloured substitute boards will make any difference whatsoever to LGBT rights around the globe- it will probably massage somebody's ego though. While I am prepared fo acept the right for them to live there lives how they see fit I wish they would respect my right not to give a flying fuck and stop the constant barage of propaganda Wow.

Making Sense of the Troubles by David McKittrick and David McVea is a very good read, as well as Bloody Sunday which has already been recommended. 66 days (which is on Netflix) is also an interesting watch Thanks mate! I think I shall watch that tonight.

I want to educate myself on this whole situation, can anybody recommend me any books to read or documentaries etc? Preferably unbiased ones. Making Sense of the Troubles by David McKittrick and David McVea is a very good read, as well as Bloody Sunday which has already been recommended.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly did he do during the minute's silence? I assume he was waiting within the tunnel area.  Just as the Last Post was ending he was escorted by a security guy along the touchline to the dug out area where officials and substitutes from both clubs were standing observing the minutes silence. If he was escorted wouldn't that be down to the security guy to get the timing right?

It can be viewed on DAZN here in damp and drizzly Ontario.
For those without (or who want to join in the fun chat) then don't forget Wreckitrob's rabb.it rooms - always great fun!

We have a very small but active group here in Niagara (Canada). I believe we're the only Canadian supporters branch but I'm very happy to be corrected on that! Also very happy to accept members from the US side of the river as we're right on the border.

I could never warm to Geoff Cameron for some reason. My theory is that you honorary Canadian's are hard wired to be suspicious of Americans! That would make perfect sense, although I disliked him long before I read about his political views. Plus I was another who actually quite liked Brek Shea when he first signed. Goodness knows why, Geoff seems like a much more likeable bloke overall.
