No I don't think so, I expect he's probably cacking himself. Normally people making such smears are a lot cleverer about it. If he'd called Corbyn antisemitic, then he could hide behind a claim of it being his *opinion* that he is but he got a little bit over excited on this occasion and he's over stepped the mark, accusing Corbyn of something as a statement of fact, which is a much more serious accusation. I'm no legal expert but I wouldn't be at all surprised if it ends up costing him an awful lot of cash, or at least an extremely embarassing apology, or maybe even both. Nige won’t give it a moments thought. He may be force to give an “apology” but really why should he? Free speech and all that Free speech doesn't mean you can say anything you like about other people. You'd be fine if Farage had claimed that Corbyn was into pedophilia?

This is huge news if it's true.
Nothing in the Western media yet but it's being reported on mainstream news in Israel and Jordan.

Firstly to pick up the comment in the post you were replying to, I have never been a Tory and was an active member of the Liberal Party in the 70s and 80s, opposing people like Thatcher, Foot, and the loony left. I packed in politics in disgust at the duplicity of politicians who will make any promise and tell any lie to get your vote. The Liberals were amateurs at duplicity compared with the other parties. I think it is vital to retain control of politicians by the people being able to vote out politicians they don't want. I think it is crazy to hand over law making and governance and judicial decisions to a "pooled sovereignty" and get trapped into "ever closer union" in the EU. I believe this country has a great future because of the great people who make up the nation. Politicians come and go and they do very little "shaping". The shaping is done by the leaders in society and the talents of the general population. Tell me what leading politicians have done shaping this country. The UK is the second most influential country in the world and 6th largest economy despite the politicians, not because of them. A good number of "British" businesses are foreign owned and have the best interests of their owners and shareholders at heart, not the British people. Just look at the state of our rivers - do you really think the water companies give a toss and will do anything about it without government intervention? Your concept of "sovereignty" is fundamentally elitist - you believe in the great and the good running this country on behalf of the plebs. And you naively believe the great and the good have the best interests of the plebs at heart. Nothing could be further from the truth. Real "sovereignty" for me is the actual power and influence vested in us plebs and from that perspective we have less actual "sovereignty" than the citizens of every other country in Europe and Brexit hasn't changed that one iota. If you actually believe in democracy you would be arguing for PR. The thing you are advocating is a nostalgic patrician version of "sovereignty" that disappeared in the sixties. Our future prospects are abysmal because the vision we've adopted is from the rear view mirror and not what is actually in front of us. As a nation our politics needs to grow up and we need to take ownership, not leave it to the great and the good. Excellent post.

No it isn't. It's gaslighting bollocks. However it shows a startling lack of self-awareness - if the streets are not safe and cities have no go areas what does that say for 14 years of "The Party of Law and Order"?
That's the kicker ... you'd think it would be but it isn't.
He feels pretty safe in his assumption, that his target audience (it would appear, quite correctly) won't even consider anything beyond 5 minutes ago.

Did anyone see this? Two blokes were wildly swinging at each other and one of them got absolutely haymakered in the gob. One of them was accusing the other of farting horrifically and repetitively. Anyway, it was me, I didn't say anything at the time because I was scared and it was funny, but sorry lads, I was the phantom farter of Block 28, I'm sorry one of you needs a doctor and one of you is in jail. I could have prevented it, but I didn't.
You really are full of shit ...

It's not normal political protocol, to describe the Galloway win, as "beyond horrific" is it? I was wondering whether he would rattle Starmer but you're right, he's actually shook the whole establishment. It was a truly bizarre speech from Sunak. When he says “extremist groups are a growing threat to British democracy “ presumably he is talking about the Tory party. Absolutely bizarre. Braverman, Jenrick, Anderson, Scully all making the most inflammatory comments in the last 10 days alone. I think the culture wars, we were warned of leading upto the election have well and truly begun.

I don't think we do disagree Gawa. I'm against any violence, wrongdoing etc against anyone....in this context to ensure free and fair elections. Anyone should be able to legally discuss any issue without feeling threatened....openly or indirectly. In previous posts I have mentioned the difficulty as an RE teacher of discussing Islam openly in the classroom in some contexts out of real or imaginary fear. I joined the Police because I don't like bullying or intimidation from whatever quarter towards whoever . It has no place in politics...and victims have included Farage, Corbyn, Galloway etc. I don't think we on tge EE board always need to disagree, based upon previous discussions. About the Hoyle , Labour issue...Paul tri to explain it to me....I still see no link ( THERE WASN'T ONE) from the perspective/ explanation given by Hoyle and Starmer On a slightly unrelated note. I see alot of people pushing voter fraud on twitter suddenly due to the number of postal votes. I've tried to do a bit of research on this but not finding alot. The number 20,000 postal votes keeps getting floated around but not sure if this is how many votes were made by post or if it's just the number of applications made. One thing I will say though is that since the Conservative party introduced voter id, postal vote applications have increased. This is because voting by post doesn't require id - something alot of older members do not have. With that said, I criticised the decision by the conservatives a few months ago to further extend the eligibility of postal voters so that people who haven't lived in this country for well over a decade can vote. And opening that postal voting up to people who haven't lived or paid tax here in a very long time feels like an attempt to gerrymander like tories admitted the introduction of voter id was to gerrymander. I highly doubt it's benefited George Galloway in anyway however. He does have form for this sort of shenanigans ...

Good point....so at the GE will there be a bigger turnout of the non Muslim vote , who might prioritise other things than Gaza? Gaza will be a red line for many voters Muslim or otherwise, even more so if Israel are allowed to carry on as is........ I think it will be a big red line for a lot of traditional (non Muslim) Labour voters too.

Do we know the reason for this threat on Danczuk? Does it have anything to do with the sexually explicit texts he sent to a 17 year old or the sex abuse allegations from his former wife? Obviously any type of death threat is abhorrent but in Rochdale of all places, we need to keep our eye on the ball here.

In a by election where reform came *check notes* 6th placed they've came out and went full trump this morning 🤣. Snowflakes. I don't particularly like Tice , but he isn't completely stupid. I think the electoral process and intimidation etc / how far " we" can go in safely and honestly presenting and preventing a different point of view needs to be looked at. Also I think he is dead right on postal votes, most are completely unnecessary and gives an unnecessary opportunity for fraud. ( and for me, those who say" evidence shows that electoral fraud is only a minority issue" are missing the point entirely. We should do our very best to eliminate ALL fraud. One vote could make a difference) You were asking the other day BJR about populist politicians and the difference between left and right. Well what we saw last night, in Galloway, is a perfect example of a populist politician from the left. Hopefully his win, will get Starmer to have a rethink on his position on Gaza, as it becomes apparent to him that for a lot of traditional Labour voters, Palestine is a line that a Labour leader simply shouldn't cross. But as I said last night, it's still too early to tell if Galloway will become an actual thorn in Starmer's side. As for Tice, we'll it's a devastating blow for him and he was getting his excuses in early last night. It's all a rather bit odd that none of the other party's have complained about any intimidation at all and it does make you wonder if Tice is throwing his toys out of the pram a bit on this one. It'll be interesting to see if there are any prosecutions as a result of his claims, I rather suspect that there won't.

Galloway: 12,335 Tully: 6,638 Tories: 3,731 Labour: 2,402 Lib Dems: 2,164 Reform: 1,968
Galloway absolutely tearing into Starmer over Gaza. Whether ultimately he can prove to be a genuine thorn in the side of Labour remains to be seen of course.
