Very underwhelming if true after what Dave has said. Too injury prone. Beattie is better imo. as much as i love Beattie mate, Ashton is on a different level 100% agree with that. A fully fit ashton would not look out of pace in ANY team in the country.

Ashton is ok but I think we need some pace. Ric, Mama n Beats added to Ashton provide power but no pace. All my opinion mind.

It is a matter of getting him fit, although I really couldn't see Pulis signing him if he was injury prone. Take the piss out of him but Cresswell was an "injury" prone striker, and I haven't seen him layed off properly since he has been at the club. Fuller was supposed to be injury prone and he has turned out ok Immense! It is just that bit of Stoke Welding that could sort him out. ;D

The ONLY problem with Ashton is his fitness. Fully fit (and it is yet to be proved that he is) he is the best English striker apart from Rooney. In fact my two first choice English strikers would be a fit Ashton and Rooney. I agree with that, Forny. I think he's an absolutely sensational player when he's fit. But that's the HHHUUUGGGEEEEE caveat in all this. The stars will have had to have alligned in a very strange way, one way or the other, for him to end up at Stoke City for a reasonable fee. If it happens, credit to DavesViews though. He couldn't really have been any more explicit in fingering Ashton as the man in question if he'd put up a picture of him.

as much as i love Beattie mate, Ashton is on a different level true, ashton is absolutely class. and imo will probably think he is too good for us. True, Spurs had a £15m bid rejected last year and were even considering coming back in with £20m!! Let's be honest, a fully fit Dean Ashton wouldn't look twice at Stoke, it's the gamble we have to take...

the thing is lord i suppose alot of people would have regarded fuller as a so called crock but he has proved people wrong as long as he is given time and looked after of the pitch by medical staff he will be fine

In fact my two first choice English strikers would be a fit Ashton and Rooney. The article linked somewhere on here suggests he has been fully fit, or at least in full contact training for weeks, Wet Sham just didn't want to risk him and scupper any potential transfer... I remember when he signed his new deal, it was one of the biggest will he won't he stories of last year alongside Ronaldo to Madrid!!!!

..only thing that doesn't tie in is MC reckoned the striker having an imminent medical plays in the Fuller role more than the Mama role and is even better than Fuller - Ashton doesn't strike me as the Fuller type, more a better Beattie?

If you can't make out clues to this player from his last set given about a striker for THIS week then you will doubt him for ever and a day ! I think, if true, then Dave has delivered full stop !!!!!

you think mark? Beattie isnt a crock and I dont really rate Ashton minus his finishing abilities. Should imagine the goal records are similar (?) but Beattie less injury prone. Beattie's had his fair share of injuries though hasn't he? Ashton at his best is a superb striker in the Teddy Sheringham mould.

coggy are you kidding me mate? I said NAMED!!! I could've guessed who we might sign myself Dave HAS NOT delivered a name...may as well give credit to the hoards of posters who typed the name in. Ashton isn't confirmed in any event, but i would piss myself laughing if somebody with 80 odd posts actually named him as a signing before Davesviews, however you dress it up coggy ;D

I was on about this one more than anything - 'Dave has delivered' - What the hell has he delivered exactly?

Dave's MO is that he doesn't name anybody though. He gives reasonably detailed clues to nudge people in the right direction. I realise that, but on the basis of all davesviews posts* it could have been one of about half a dozen players, and as i said earlier, credit should therefore go to both the posters who deduced the name and the thread starter here, pottermus *see page 99 and 401 of New Signings thread (rather lengthy though )

The thread starter here also deserves some credit if this turns out to be true though, you're right.

He's delivered the clues - Brilliant, while he's at it he should bring a Pizza and Paper!

so if this signing gets confirmed as official, we can infer that davesviews could have reduced 500 pages to that of about 200 for the same information that took pottermus 1 post

He's delivered the clues - Brilliant, while he's at it he should bring a Pizza and Paper! Well he clearly feels he can't name names and that is his right, which should be respected. He was right about Beattie and Kelly and it looks like he's right again.
