think we may be pleasently suprised of he quality of player that will be willing to come to stoke following all the good press lately about the club. also stoke would be appealing to a prospective signing because the club is run properly and TP after alex ferguson probably has the most secure job in the league. That will mean a lot to players these days when managers jobs dont last as long as reading through the contract, because they will know that that man wants hem there and he isnt going to be sacked by a knee jerk reaction.

All the same things about kirkland apply to rob green!!
Belhadj is decent going forward due to his pace - i'm not entirely sure he's a great defender and can't see him in a pulis side. Shorey is apparently having a stinker of a season at villa, i wouldn't personally go for him but fair do's if people still rate him. If boro are relegated either wheater or huth would be great, although we do need full back more than centre halves.
Certainly a gary o'neill or james morrisson type would be a good addition for us if wba/boro players are available. N'Daw i think too - a DM is needed with diao and amdy's age considered. It's possible we might be in with a small shout of huddlestone, but he's kind of a fringe player - think he would probably end up costing over the odds.
Up front - benjani is realistic, but i always thought he was shit myself - couldn't believe it when he had that scoring streak for pompey last season. Perhaps Jason Scotland from Swansea? Big bastard target man a la kenweyne jones, probably about £4m.

RVD, out of the top 6 there is not a big gap in the other clubs imo, as this season has proved, in terms of quality of the teams there is very little in it after the top 5 or 6. When you look at it that way and then look at the fan bases of each club, we are far from the least attractive imo.
he's not going t a top 4 club man city have given wigan have kirkland pompey have james sunderland have fulop and gordon
we'd have a good chance imo if whu did decide to sell

Have to say I don't massively get the love for Huddlestone - seems he can be really good when he's arsed, which isn't that often.

You might be right - look at Carson, but I'd be surprised if he ended up anywhere other than an established Prem club.

There seems to be a lot of calls for Kevin Nolan in this thread, a lot of people were surprised when Bolton let him go, however the Newcastle fans have been extremely dissapointed with him since his arrival, maybe Megson knew something others didn't. In an ideal world, and IF we stay up, I think we will probably will need six new first teams starters if we're going to push on significantly. ------------------Sorro---------------- HERE-----Shawcross----Faye-----HERE HERE-----HERE-----HERE----Etherington ---------HERE*------Beattie----------- Subs from: Simmo Wilko Higgy Sonko Rory Whelan Pugh Lenny Faye Fuller* Sidibe *I know it is controversial to suggest that we need somebody who is better than Fuller to start and this suggestion is probably taking 'idealy' to the extreme, however I really would like to see Ric battle for his place with a player who is of the calibre of a Cisse or a Martins, and may mean that he will indeed be used more and more as a 'super-sub'. It's difficult to determine just how much more of an attractive proposition we will be to potential signings than we were when we were promoted, but I do think the reputation of sold out passionate crowds at the Brit, brilliant away followings (it will not have gone unoticed) and the financial security of the club and the manager will count for quite a bit. Outside of the top four, plus Villa, Everton, Man City and Spurs I doubt we will be THAT far behind any other potential suitor, and in all honesty we probably wont be chasing the same players as these teams anyway. Is somet like this realistic? -------------------------Sorro------------------------ Habib Beye-----Shawcross-------Faye------Shorey John Utaka-----Hudlestone-----O'Neil------Etherington --------------Martins------------Beattie---------- Maybe Beye and Martins will indeed be out of our reach as of course they might prefer to back to Europe if Newcastle go down and of course we have to consider that our wage structure will have to change a fair bit, but I guess that's an inevitable consequence of becoming an established Premiership outfit. Nice team though.

Sorensen
?? . Shawcross . Abdoulaye . ??
?? . Whelan . ?? . Etherington
Beattie . ??
To be honest, I would be looking to splash a bit of money on filling the '??' spaces, and having players such as Fuller, Higginbotham, Lawrence, Wilkinson, Delap et al, starting off as competition.
It sounds a lot like Gary O'Neil is already penned in as a new face come the summer, and we all know that Mr. Pulis certainly dosn't give up on past targets (Zamora anyone?) without a fight. Also, it all seems to have gone quiet on the Rudolph Austin front, so I half expect something to happen regarding him in the not too distant future.
But lets be honest, this is where the difficulty begins when looking for new players, because not only do we need pace, power and dedication within the team, but this is the stage in which we need ALL of our players to have ALL three attributes, alongside genuine quality. Easier stated than achived when you're a top 4 team with millions to spend, never mind when you're the little fish in such a bloody great, whopping pond.
I'm not going to pretend to know just how good all of the players that have been mentioned are, but when brainstorming list's of players that we MAY be able to attract consist of:
Kelly; Shorey; Huddlestone; Riggott; Utaka; Koren; Ledley; Sol Campbell; Frazier Campbell; Gunnarsson; Joe Lewis; Benjani; Wheater; Sean Davies; Kevin Davies; Steven Taylor, etc...
... all players that are no better than what we have already got in my opinion, you just know that we're going to be in for one hell of a ride come the summer.
All depending on if we do manage to avoid the drop that is! ;D

Invaluable squad player, but still question his consistency - not sure long-term he's the answer.

I'd go for Cisse personally. At the start of the season he was on fire and I think a falling out with Sbragia has tailed he form off somewhat.
Marseille are looking to sell and Pulis was definitely interested in the summer, so maybe a perm signing for around £6 million
