Remember Leigh Jenkinson of Hull City 'think it was Hull City' once tearing us apart many moons ago. Couldn't live with him on that night and if memory serves me correct he bagged a brace in a 3.1 defeat at the old Victoria ground.
Anymore?.

Walcott was pretty quick until Delap stopped him in his tracks.

Walcott was pretty quick until Delap stopped him in his tracks. I would agree, Dave. For pure pace, rather than dribbling skills, Walcott is probably as quick as I've ever seen.

Ashley Young loks preety speedy.
Hoekstra definately most skillful i've seen (as in using skill while running quickly) and therefore taking many players on in one run.

walcott is at a different level in sprinting stakes.
remember trevor sinclair as a kid for blackpool, stripping our defence apart at the vic, think it was the season of our longest unbeaten run

Walcott was pretty quick until Delap stopped him in his tracks. He was extremely quick down that right wing when we plaed at St. Mary's. When Broomes got sent off for trying to stop him ;D

Sir Stan - probably the fastest footballer ever.

Matthews was nowhere near the fastest footballer ever- get a grip.
The Hull game above was actually 3-2 and was the last home game I missed until moving to Thailand- was in Dallas that day. Good call though- he went to Coventry I think and did very little afterwards.
Have to mention Franz Carr- incredible pace but could do sod all with the ball.

Jamal Campbell-Ryce pain in the arse with his speed & Scott Sinclair last season but Walcott is the fastest I've seen

Got to agree with chrispk76.
Trevor Sinclair was brilliant for Blackpool that day down the Vic. Think that he scored the only goal in a 0-1 Blackpool win.
Hate to say it but Beagrie had a good game for Sheff Utd at the Vic and was a Stoke player soon after.

I'd very interested in seeing a race between Walcott and Agbonhlahore, personally I think Gabby may have a slight edge.

Jemal Campbell-Ryce. This lad always manages to rip our full backs a new arsehole whoever the full back may be.

Mark Chamberlain was very quick and could cross a ball whilst running too, unlike Aaron L ennon and Wacott. Harry Burrows took some beating for pace and Liverpools Stevie Heiway too.

Don Ratcliffe - not the most skillful by a long way but had pace to spare. Even Real Medrid were impressed. Harry Burrows also had plenty of pace as hannibal says.

I, too, remember 'the Trevor Sinclair show' at The Vic. The most outstanding individual performance I had ever seen from a teenager. I remember agreeing with my Dad he'd play for England one day.
A good career but never quite made the final step up to greatness but had the whole world at his feet...

Mikael Hansson or Marc Goodfellow are probably the quickest I've seen in a Stoke shirt (1996+). Possibly Jemal Campbell-Ryce from opposition. Not that any of them were any good.
Edit: And of course Theo, not too many players can match him for raw pace.

chamberlain by a country mile the fastest and most skillful winger ever to grace the vic in my time as a stokie (since 79) . used love watching this man , sheer poetry . the goal at birmingham 82 , beat four players from the halfway line and a stunning finish . last stoke player to win an england cap as well .

On his day Ricky Otto had a fair burst of speed in his legs. I can remember him scoring for Orient in front of the Boothen End and many supporters actually applauding.

Mark chamberlain easy, for that first season at stoke he was probably the best player in the top flight.
He absolutely destroyed defences that season who remembers the Arsenal.Liverpool and Brum away games that season he was devestating.

For Stoke it's got to be Mark Chamberlain..the way he used to bomb down the right wing when Stoke attacked The Boothen was worth the admission price alone...fantastic...exciting....got the Boothen going....brilliant.."Chambo".. For other clubs..Aaron Lennon ripped us to pieces the other week at Tottenham..he was outstanding...and I've no doubt Ashley Young will do a similar job when we play Villa..the way he did against us when he played for Watford...

Mark Chamberlain....The fastest. Without doubt for me mumf. Everytime he got the ball it was up onto the edge of your seat followed by "Wow ... look at him go". Apart from his injuries when he lost a lot of his pace i reckon he could have been a regular fixture in the England squad for years. Closely followed i suppose by Tony Daley from the Villa who was also pretty frightening

Mark Walters, 50% of the time, looked lazy but when he went showed most a clean pair of heels, more so in his Rangers days though.
