Stoke City Target Last Minute Signings Stoke City are looking to tie up three new signings before the end of the transfer window, according to reports. Potters' manager Tony Pulis has already brought in James Beattie and Matthew Etherington, and both have settled well into the club. The three players reportedly on the Potters radar are Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood, Guirane N'Daw and Hassan Yebda. Harewood has been tracked by Pulis for the last twelve months and the Stoke boss tried to sign him last summer, but the striker was reportedly not keen on the deal. Now though, after Villa boss Martin O'Neill signed Emile Heskey from Wigan Athletic, Harewood's future looks in doubt and he may be open to a move to the Brittannia Stadium. Guirane N'Daw is also a man who has been tracked by Pulis for some time. The Senegalese midfielder was rumoured to be close to moving to the Potters last summer, but instead chose to move to Ligue 1 side Nantes from Sochaux. He has featured regularly for the French side up tiill now, so prising him away may not be easy for Pulis, but the speculation continues. The final signing Pulis is hoping to make is the capture of Benfica midfielder Hassan Yebda, who has been impressing for the Portuguese club throughout this season. The 24-year-old has been given plenty of chances to prove himself in the Benfica starting line up, and would be a solid acquisition for Pulis, who has reportedly made a £4 million bid for the Frenchman as the transfer window draws to a close. www.goal.com/en/news/1520/stoke-city/2009/02/01/1088452/stoke-city-target-last-minute-signings

Here's hoping we sign a full-back instead of Harewood.

Tbh, unless one of our best strikers leave such as Fuller or kitson then I can't see Harewood coming but if he does, this will certainly leave the door open for Kitson or Fuller to leave and tbh I'd rather take a quality full-back instead.
As for the others, I can't really comment on them but I think that there maybe better options available with premiership pedigree rather than taking risks on foreign players without premiership experience. However, I just hope that if they do come in, they will do a sterling job in the centre of midfield and give us that extra bit of compettion and quality that we need. No disrespect to Whelan or Amdy Faye though, who were fantastic yesterday.

L'Equipe reported we'd made a concrete bid for N'Daw on Friday - but Nantes put a statement on their website denying that any bid had been received, and that any offers received would not even be considered.
And a Portuguese paper this morning said there had been an enquiry from Stoke for Yebda - but alleged it has definitely not gone as far as the 6m Euro offer that was reported yesterday in a rival paper.
Judging by the Bruce-Pulis 5 Live conversation that was reported on here the other day, you'd have to think Camara was more likely than Harewood?
I suppose anything can happen on dadline day though, we normally end up getting players who we haven't been linked to at all.

Tomorrow is going to be exciting isn't it. Scholes is going to be a busy boy, with us targetting to get at least 3 in and maybe a couple out

Do those names tally with your info mc?
I really hope we get at least one fullback in, it seems TP is desperate to cover Diao's absence

Strange we haven't been looking in the loan market, very unusual for TP.... but then I suppose we have a bit of money for permanent signings.

Well, I know the names of players we are still very much targetting, and the club are hopeful of getting at least 3 in, due to our history with transfers I honestly can't see us getting more than 3.
A couple of targets are well mentioned on this board, and others less so if at all.
If we get a couple of the targets in early enough, then a couple will leave also.

Monkey, any 'wow factor' players ? There is one who I would be very very pleased with, and the only one I will name as there have been so many threads etc about him, and that is Dindane. We are still trying to sort out a loan deal for him, and i think he would be great, plenty of pace can play up front or either flank.

Given that I can't see us going for two new strikers, can we assume that Camara is a fall-back option? And assuming the Nigerian bloke signs, I wonder who the mystery third player is? God, I love this!

They were still pushing the idea of a 6m Euro sale, as the only way he'd be leaving, in the papers yesterday But they seemed to indicate Stoke were now the only interested party. But I suppose if Dindane is pushing for a move and we offer a juicy loan fee, they could buckle. There's no way Pulis would gamble on anything permanent with him, is there? www.lensois.com/breve-14248-aruna-dindane-encore-lensois-sauf-si-.htmlThe sports daily L'Equipe on Saturday says in its columns that Aruna Dindane should not leave during the last hours of the winter market. Less than an "fabulous offer" said Gervais Martel.
Only Stoke City is still on the ranks and the English club will pay six million euros if it wishes to enlist the services of the Ivorian striker.

Not sure about the end of Lawrence, more possibly Cresswell. Dindane can play on either flank or up front, is that not what Cresswell is supposed to do?

If he did well here and helped keep us up, we'd likely turn it into a permanent move in the summer. Even if we didn't bite the bullet and tie him to a full-time contract, he could at least prove his fitness and put himself in the shop window. Everyone's a winner. ???
