Anyone remember big bad John Gayle punching a Stokie in the face in the paddock? Was during an Autoglass cup game late 1991 v Birmingham. Gayle was a Birmingham sub sat in the dugout, Christ knows what provoked it.

anyone remember the "brolly boys"?? didn't last too long from what I can remember, the old bill clicked after a while and banned them. In short, the small black extendable umbrellas had recently come on sale in the shops. Cue a load of paddock lads taking an umbrella as a "fashion accessory" (or potential weapon) to the match......rain or not Also remember an old fella that stood by the dugouts who chain smoked cigars, as one was almost out he started another and have two on the go, never saw him without a cigar on the go. Gods... you aren't Andy are you??? don't think it is as the Andy I know got kicked out after the 1st goal as I recall. Spent most of my time on the Boothen, started the game in the middle by the steps (or on them) block b for the first half, and would often move second half to mates on the right side ,or down by the goal, or top right with other mates. Great days.

I recognise the guy in the white polo shirt, Mark or something like that? Spent a few seasons in the Boothen paddock with the Talke Pits/ Kidsgrove lot, remember Wolves coming round at the end of one game trying to get to the boothen when the big gates opened, they never got in as the paddock spotted them. Simon Harris, Alec Proctor, Kevin Wardrobe & other lads from Meir / Blythe in that photo.

My abiding memory of the Boothen Paddock was versus Man City when Denis Tueart took off his shirt and gave it to Mickey Pejic. Pejic promptly threw it into the paddock where it got torn into shreds. The ref made Tueart put the shirt back on again!

Happy days in the Boothen paddock. Nice pic of you there Pep. Isn't the big lad in the black jacket and blue shirt the one who used to hang around with Nutter. Bear? Zac and Stan are on there and they were mates with Nutter I seem to recall, sure they used to travel away with Nutter. Did I notice you on the picture further down this thread?

used to go in the paddock sometimes because my mates dad was on the turnstile and used to let us in for nothing if we jumped over. Remember it was like the wild west in there - made Boothen enders look soft. I also remember a group of people who only supported stoke because they were fans of Sammy Mcilroy. God I loved that football ground.

My dad used to take me in the Boothen Paddock from the age of 6. He attached some legs to a bread board and I used to stand on that!! I'm 6'5" now so haven't used it for a few years?? Anyone remember an opposition player about to take a throw in and someone throwing a toilet brush from the paddock that stuck in the ground like a spear next to him?

One time after it had been raining for ages a little boy filled up all the empty plastic pint pots with the brown water that has gathered in the bottom couple of steps. Some arsehole came along and kicked them over. This youth then spent 10 mins scrambling around in the water refilling the pints pots after someone whispered in his ear. You can guess what was said.....

Where it all began for me was the paddock. Usually boothen end side. I'm sure the bloke on the turnstile used let me n me little bro in for nowt. The old man would stand at the back n I'd stay near the front. Memories include being right behind Kevin Keens goal v derby and regular abuse of subs. Bottle tops thrown at john oster (then of Grimsby) when on a stretcher and the abuse of pineapple head Jason lee and alf Inge haaland when warming up for forest. Abuse of opposition players going up the tunnel when close enough too. Also remember an arsenal cup game and being on stoke end side and abusing mr wenger. It also reminds me as to how school dragged all day when u knew u were going the match that night. Great memories of the early days of my stoke career. Ha.
