Fair play to QPR for the Leicester result but the stats show it was relatively one-sided but they got the rub of the green. Maybe we'll be lucky too.

All this we could have been 5 down is rubbish, the goalkeeper is part of the team and did his job properly, some would say for the first time. Big issue is the weak shooting, when they had a shot it tested the goalkeeper, whereas the majority of ours were passes to the goalkeeper. This is my worry, even when we play well we don't"t look like scoring many. The keeper who gave what looked a penalty/red card away first 15 minutes?

.
This is bollocks mate. If you can’t have seen what was going on on the pitch (100% effort by every player, bodies on the line all over place, and as dominant 2nd half Leeds have faced at home all season)then listen to the away fans, out singing Leeds for 60/70 mins. A brave and encouraging performance by the team and an amazing performance by the away fans in a couldron of a stadium. This was another turning point. We will be ok mark my words.
Where did I say there was a lack of effort, bodies on the line, and we weren't the better team second half? So hardly bollocks, is it?
Do you not question where that second half performance has been all season and why have they only shown up in the last week, plus IF we are going to get it again over the last 10 games? Even if we stay up, and I think we will, the players deserve to be questioned just why it's taken 7 months to rock up.

I hate this kind of language, it's so painfully lacking in ambition. A free hit against a championship side we've already beaten this season under a manager who got sacked shortly after? It was a championship Leeds side who aren't even in the top two and behind a side that got promoted from league one last season. They were missing players and were weary from lots of fixtures and were miles off their best. It wasn't a free hit it all. Another day we could have taken 3 points. Anyone would think we were playing Liverpool or City away. As the poster above mentions, the accepting language of certain supporters is a carbon copy of that which we saw during the Lambert era. It's all relative though, isn't it? They're the equivalent of a Man City/Arsenal/Liverpool at the level we're at Are they bollocks ffs, the gap between the elite and the dregs of the Prem is immeasurably bigger. When would you ever see a relegation team dominate a half of football away at a top PL club like we did yesterday? And we weren't even all *that* great. "Anyone can beat anyone" in the Champo may be a cliche but it's absolutely true because the entire league is muck. All you need is a minor semblance of consistency and you're a playoff team.

They sat back at 1-0. Really? I never said that. I said that if they had been 3 or 4 up at ht as they should have been, then the cigars would have been out. We played well second half. Played like that all season we'd be looking at top 10. Leicester could have been 4 up v QPR A team at the top is always going to put you under pressure but they were far from comfortable Took a deflected goal to beat us Yep, lots of positives but another good away performance after going behind and yet nothing from it

Yes, OK, they obviously aren't a Man City in that they are mind-blowing, but they are still a bit of a Championship machine like Liverpool and Arsenal are with some players we could only dream of having. They have been on a ridiculous run at Elland Road and I have said in spite of that they aren't unbeatable, and we gave it a go and nearly came away with something. The truth is, like it or not over the course of a season, we are miles behind a team like Leeds as it stands and we managed to go toe-to-toe with them, which many other teams haven't this season. The quality in the league isn't great overall, I agree, but the intensity and pace of it can be relentless. It's evidently not that easy to gain that consistency which we crave! Coventry and West Brom out of the others seem to at least have got that going. Everyone else is in and out form and it shows in the bottom half of the table.

No-one's happy in defeat (or shouldn't be) but there were more positives to take from that one than many others. Heads didn't go down when we conceded, a lot more togetherness, benefit of not making multiple changes.
No-one can improve a skillset overnight but attitude and organisation can be influenced much quicker and I'm more confident that with that attitude we can avoid the drop than from what I was seeing a couple of weeks back.
Probably a minority view but I didn't think there was that much between the two teams on the night - James and Summerville being the main difference.

I left Elland Road last with a lot of positives. We deserved at least a point.
I read this thread & laughed. If you've come away from that with the narrative that we're not showing improvement & we're nailed on to go down then I give-up. Negativity runs through some people's bones.
The atmosphere was superb. The desire & effort was excellent. The unity was good to see. We didn't roll over when we went 1 down. We lacked a cutting edge but we went to the toughest place in the league & took them the full 90.
That performance against most other sides in the league and we'd come away with 3 points.

It's funny old game, this year's championship. If Cardiff were to beat Hudds 3-0 tonight we would miracolously climb out of the bottom three without even playing. No, I'm not suggesting anyone should support Cardiff tonight, but...

Wonder if QPR saw Leicester as a "free hit"? 100%. Of course they did. If you're expected to get tonked, anything you then get is a bonus, isn't it? The whole reason that result's even registered with people, is that it was completely unexpected.

On average this season, we score 0.92 goals per game, while conceding 1.36. That can only finish one way I’m afraid. Does anyone seriously think we are going to suddenly start scoring on a consistent basis?

Another game we don’t rake our chances , another game when the jan window is exposed as utter lunacy , another game where we don’t influence the result from the dug out . Redults are all that matters now and that’s another poor one "lady night wad" How does he know my drag name

Whilst the second half we were slightly the better team and it was a vast improvement on previous months - despite being against a team playing their 4th game in 12 days including a local derby and big cup game - was it really enough for unbridled optimism from some? 1. We should have been 3 or 4 down by half time and they had the cigars on second half, including a possible red for Iversen? 2. We could have lost 5-1 overall quite easily. 3. Chances - I mean clear-cut chances.....1 or 2 at the most? 4. Our keeper was easily MOTM. By a mile. 5. We failed to score - again. 6. This improved attitude and desire - nice of the players to show it in March. So I ask - whilst we escaped a tonking that many expected - was last night really enough to say "if we play like that, we will stay up"? And just how far have we fallen, when avoiding a tonking seems to be celebrated? The talk on radio before the start was settling for a 2-0 defeat. Seriously? Play like that for the rest of the season, and miss the chances we do create, show the stupidity Pearson did, and the defensive vulnerabilities we did first half - and we don't stay up. Amazed how giddy some are despite us falling further behind some teams and putting up a showing that is the very least that we should expect as fans. Just how rotten was the club before the PR of the last 2 weeks? A game where we show a decent attitude is the very least that I expect. Every single bloody game! Sorry, I hardly ever praise losses, especially when third bottom. Some of the over-the-top stuff I saw after beating a rancid Boro team from the club's media and on social media by fans was absolutely crackers. Ditto last night. the short version of responding to this, is essentially yes play like that & we stay up other than Saints away all the other games play like that & we probably win because none of the others are anywhere near the standard of Leeds Boro were rancid but so are pretty much very side we play bar Saints (including PNE, Hull & Albion, bit less rancid but absolutely nothing special) Don't see anyone else posing the same problems with pace, quality & quick passing like that We have of course lost to rancid sides over & over but not playing like we did last night so yes play like we did, we will stay up

They have PL quality players in their squad but they are definitely beatable, and we put in more than a decent enough performance. Of course we shouldn't be in this position and the fact that Leeds are so far ahead is not a good look, but there's no point dwelling on that now. We are what we are. Are you suggesting we should have gone there and won yesterday? No I'm not suggesting we should have done anything. I'm suggesting we, as fans, shouldn't be remotely content with a 1-0 defeat in the championship. I agree, no point dwelling on it. We need to go to Preston and get something.

If you look at the chances they had , I would say most of them were borne from the quality of the strikes rather than the opportunities we gave them. Before the goal, the Bamford and James attempts came from unlikely scoring chances. The goal itself came from a deflection off Wilmot. If not for that, we would have come away with a draw. Against most teams in this division, our defence would have done enough to keep reasonable quality strikes out. We hopefully won't come against the quality of Leeds again for the rest of the season, and the strikes we were limited to against Leeds could go in against the teams we will be facing from hereon in.

The club is swamped in negativity at the moment. We’re at the most risk we’ve ever been of returning to League One since we dragged ourself out of it. So, yes, we cling tight to every bit of positivity we can find. The last two games have been far from perfect but there have been definite signs of fight and togetherness. For me it’s a yes. Play like that for the rest of the season and we survive. Just.

Not that it matters - but wouldn't it have been a penalty and yellow card? I thought the last man rule in the penalty area changed. Given his shot stopping for the rest of the night - he'd have then magnificently clawed it away from the top corner, before setting us off on a Diouf Man City type counter attack from Ennis.

I'm assuming you are referring to my post from a few weeks ago? The post below. A post where the phrase 'not bothered' isn't used? Not going and not being bothered are two entirely different things. Can fully understand the OP and all the sentiments on here. And I'm not going to preach, as I hate it when supporters tell supporters how to support. Everyone does so differently. I've done 50 years, 1250+ games and 72 grounds watching Stoke and bloody loved it. Some of our darkest days were also some of my most enjoyable - and that was because the game was often the bit that got in the way of a good time. I have never taken to the Britannia Stadium, and dad hated it. That's at the heart of it for me, as every game felt like an away da, but without the good bits. There is nowt worse than losing at home, as the day itself and the logistics for me were always crap. Recent circumstances have seen me going more and more to my localish non-league tam, and i have now ended up working there. Why? Because I enjoy going there more, it's really that simple. And more importantly, my youngest lad does, too. Noone loves sport more than him, but going to Stoke became a chore - he was bored shitless. He'd train util 1pm at Clayton Wood, then we'd grab a McD's and go the game - he was shattered and the afternoon was simply a borefest, week after week. He'd get home at 5.45pm at best, totally knackered and totally bored. I felt like a bad parent tbh. I also feel a total disconnect with my club. I have felt like a customer or client for a number of years. And it's nowt to do with losing or relegation - I've seen far worse. No, I just feel like I have little relationship with the football club and only important when they want something. Compare and contrast to non-league : every single time I go through the turnstiles at Leek, I feel like a mate and I feel like I'm part of a community. That's my job now - to grow that to more and more people. Of course, winning football helps - but it goes beyond that. To get a true connection you need to understand why people go to football, the local area and community, and make people feel wanted. It's cheaper, I can have a beer on a terrace, I have a laugh with mates, I see tons of time-served Stokies there, my lad loves it, the food is ace and cheaper, the cost is miles less, and I can be home for 5.05pm. That's massive - instead of 1-6pm (and being out of the house 8.30am-6pm), it's now 2.30-5.05pm. That's a big difference to a weekend. But most importantly, my lad loves it and I feel like it's how football used to be. The players give it their all, the football is good quality, and at the end of a game where 22 lads have played for the badge on the front of the shirt, they all have a meal and beer in the bar with the fans - how can that NOT build a sense of community? It's totally rekindled my love of football - unfortunately, at the expense of SCFC. Yes, I still watch matches on telly etc, but I've been in the ground three times this season, as I now go away with Leek which is a brilliant afternoon. Off the pitch, Simson King and An Emmerson are doing a fine job, but I feel zero connection with those who put the shirt on, nor those who manage and recruit them. I've had my fun - been selfish going all 0ver the country whilst wife and kids were at home. That has stopped now - when I go to football, I need those people to0 see that I've bloody enjoyed it. I'm fed up of Stoke making me angry, sad, bitter etc......I have vowed to spend my later years enjoying football more rather than letting football control my every mood, emotion and making us skint. I'm not telling folk to stop going - far from it. SCFC needs you. But please don't think there aren't alternatives. The club's hierarchy needs to understand that and start leading accordingly. That doesn't mean free buses, it mans truly understanding the connection between fan and club. Yes mate that one and many others I’ve seen on Twitter, that’s the impression you give me reading them

Last night was a free hit. They came off the back of a poor result againgst Huddersfield, and were straight out of the traps. First half was like The Alamo at times, but Leeds (a) is going to be largely 'damage limitation' for any side outside the top 8 or so. We are not there, we know that. They are probably what we're aspiring to be - quick, direct, balls into feet and utilising the pace they have, well. They've got players that would fit some Premier League sides & man-for-man they're better than us. One or two of our players, might get a game off the bench for them. The three things I wanted to see as a minimum, we got: we didn't get battered 3/4/5-0; we showed character & good attitude; and we played OK. I think we got those. The players were gutted at the final whistle. They care. I think that's clear. Our season, or what remains of it, won't be defined by the results we get at the likes of Leeds (a). We are in a dogfight. We've got tough games coming up, and at the same time, our 'peer group' have discovered some form...it's frustrating. If we go down, showing the character & performance that we saw 2nd half last night, at least we'll go down fighting. I think we'll be OK, though. Free hit. We are joint on points with 23rd place. There's no free hits. And come on mate ... Huddersfield getting a point doesn't make it a free hit. The complete opposite. It will be defined by results like last night. Play well but come away with a) no points and b) probably deservedly so. Dogfight exactly. No free hits.
