The win was not thanks to him Tactically they were superior The manager deserves no credit for todayâs 3 points from an unwatchable match The player he wanted and got in the January window Cundle was utterly useless - as he has been in all his appearances so far So by chance we got three points despite of the manager and his poor tactical choices and utterly shite substitutions and not thanks to him Iâll bite with your 4th line. Having an excellent view of the game from the Lower tier of the Franklyn Stand I can shed a light on Cundleâs performance in the 1st half. 1. He can play football 2. He was making himself available throughout and consistently linking forward play Being slight in build youâll see him involved more âon the floorâ play that getting involved in heading duels etc. 2nd half was more difficult to evaluate/comment on because (1) he was across the other side of the pitch and (2) he can only play to his strengths if others around him do the same. In respect of the rest of your post try and be a little more constructive in your criticism and Iâm not a happy clapper whatever that means

We would still have got 3 points if instead of Schumacher we had the tea lady in charge of this match

Pleased for him, still believe he is the man for the job. And he doesn't need Tony Pulis or Gary monk as some sort of advisor! đ Maybe people can calm down a bit now, roll in Saturday and hopefully another win I donât think beating QPR means we should calm down đ Iâm not calling for TP etc but we are still potentially 2 losses away from the relegation zone. Thatâs not a cause for calm. People are and rightfully should be worried. Much needed win and our first home goal in over 7 hours in the league and hopefully some hope we can pick up our form. First home goal in over 7 hours in the league ⌠Now that reads very much like a heavy bill of indictment and yet there are some here who would portray Schumacher like a messiah just because we managed to scrape a 1-0 win over third-from-bottom in an unwatchable game characterized by wayward passes and just one chance created from by us from open play

Yes we got a goal from a corner after some 7 hours of goalless football ( from our rnd, as our opponents were scoring for fun) on home turf and suddenly Schumacher is the messiah!!

They were set up better than us. At no point did we boss the game. We got a goal from a corner. They could have done the same. Both teams were crap. The game was unwatchable. Manager deserves absolutely no credit for the win. None Which team had 5 shots on target and made Begovich earn his pay, and which team had 1 shot on target?  We had one shot on target from open play

Way, way too early to say we have turned the corner, but if Sch and the team have come through the roughest of turbulence, discipline is restored and a realisation reached that Schu is backed and not to be messed with, then maybe, just maybe this could be that first block in the foundation.
Whatever, Schu deserved that and I hope he was able to sleep a little better last night and keep it going for the next gameâŚ.i still think he has something about him which will be right for us going forward.

Yep I was fearing the full on chest-beating a la post Leeds victory but thankfully he reined it in ! Great to see what it meant to him though and the team - yes a lot of relief etc but that was as committed performance with dare I say it Pulis-like fighting team spirit that weâve seen for a long long time - yes it was riven with mistakes and one or two howlers but the difference tonight was the desire to correct those mistakes and chase stuff down - if they put that level of effort, desire and endeavour into every match then thereâs no way weâll be relegated or even in the scrap and that will do for me this season - glad I made the effort to actually go down to see what I hope will be the start of our revival first hand (only 2nd time in 4 years) - I predicted a win and survival and I stick by that - I also fancy us for another on Saturday as the positive fighting team response and reaction to our victory was palpable - we shall seeâŚâŚ

Schumacher completely changed the system tonight to protect our appalling defence. It restricted QPR to 1 shot on target and gave us a clean sheet after we'd conceded 11 goals in our last 3 games. Had he just carried on with the same gameplan, we'd have no doubt seen the usual defensive collapse and we'd have lost. The game was shit and, given that we have a squad of mainly shit players, we were pretty shit, but we found a way to win. The manager deserves credit for realising that he has to compromise his ideals and find a more pragmatic way of playing given our limitations.

Entertainment wise and quality wise it was rubbish. We dug in though and fought, which made up for it. We do have some quality in the side: Burger is a Rolls Royce of a midfielder and Junho is a creative spark for two examples, but the majority of the team is really lacking. We've got to do whatever we can just to get points on the board for now.

Maybe Iâm easily pleased đ

I've been saying since the Brum/Sunderland games that he needs to park his ideals for now and he's done it. We just need 4 more of those and that will be that, hopefully we can move Martin on and bring in a proper DOF and move forward in the summer.

It was always going to be a shit game. The players were drained of confidence, had several choruses of "you're not fit to wear the shirt" ringing in their ears and were mentally prepared for another few after their first misplaced pass.
At times like this, it normally takes a game plan like that to stop taking on water. He deserves credit for doing something that is completely against his instincts to try and right the ship - and it worked. Iversen didn't have a save to make after that very early chance

We would still have got 3 points if instead of Schumacher we had the tea lady in charge of this match Where you able to , and did if listen to the interviews on radio Stoke after the game .. the telling one was around the goal , casual you say Burger pointed out theyd ( the coaches ) had identified QPRs vulnerability to conceding goals from set plays .. SS commented he was pleased theyâd scored from a set play , something they needed to do more of , particularly considering the number of corners we have , thatâs not casual itâs tactics worked out in team talks and on the training pitch In a tight game .. you first ensure you limit the opposition chances to nil or to long range shots , that doesnât happen by luck , you work on your drills and tactics to ensure that happens , when they do break through you ensure you block the cross , again that doesnât happen by accident , it comes from tactics and drills on the training ground ..we did that .when we get our crosses blocked we say itâs shite play ..it is on occasions on others just like last night itâs a team that have been coached defensively Second , you look for set plays to make the difference , itâs no surprise in tight games these are crucial , itâs your opportunity to overload the other team ..that doesnât come by luck thatâs tactics and drills And lastly having got your nose in front , you break up their play and run down the clock in the late stages of the game , Wesley is a huge disappointment , but thatâs exactly what he can and did do high up the pitch - the change and when to do it is decided on by the Head Coach , itâs called tactics Was it ugly tonight yes , was it one for the purists , no ..but it was a good game to watch tactically.. and we won that battle as well as the 3 points And finally if you watched SS and his coaches in the 2nd half when the game was very much a tactical one .. we held our defensive positions , until SS and his coach told the team to come out .. none of the coach waiting for the manager then copying him ..on at least 3 occasions it was together ..well drilled tactics , with all coaches on the same page ..and finally , finally QPR in the later stages were getting a spare man free on our left ..it was SS who was dictating and pointing out when that spare man needed picking up and when he could be left Blackburn and Sunderland we got our tactics wrong ..we didnât last night and won the 3 points

We did not limit their goal scoring opportunities to nil or long range shots
After 5 minutes their forward came one on one with iversen after a player playing out of position gave the ball away in our half with a wayward pass and the left back failed to cover . A similar goal scoring opportunity was had by qpr shortly afterwards but their player (I mean they are poor, really poor) shot the ball at the side netting
We could have easily gone 1-0 down before having had even a glimpse of their penalty box
