Surely I can't be the only person wondering why Baker doesn't start every week? By far our most threatening midfielder, great from set pieces and loves a shot from distance?
Know there were rumours of a previous AN fallout but that all seemed in the past when he returned to the side, only to be back on the sidelines again.
I would love to here people's thoughts on what our best three is (I know this changes per game but in general)?
For what it's worth, I'd probably go Baker, Burger, Laurent tonight for a bit of stability and dynamism.

Play him as a ten just off the main striker. We know he’s got a good shot and goals in his game. He’s got to start tonight.

Not sure I could bear to watch Laurent phone it in again - he's got all the attributes but not the attitude.
I'd go Baker, Burger, Pearson. Yes, he'll get a daft yellow, but at least he'll demonstrate a semblance of bustle about the place.

Although goals is a big part, obviously, there's nothing else to his game and given how bad we are atm we can't really carry someone incase we get a free kick.

He really offers nothing all game. He’s non existent.
As above poster said can’t afford to carry another player in the vain hope we get an opportunity around the edge of the box and hope he scores a cracker.

As above poster said can’t afford to carry another player in the vain hope we get an opportunity around the edge of the box and hope he scores a cracker. He played well at home to Ipswich and away to Rotherham when he came back into the team (did we carry him when he scored the only goal of the game in our last victory?), bearing in mind he'd come back from a long term injury. Then the manager bigged him up and bizarrely he's not stared since. Goals win games......

He's certainly less robust than other options, but we're so bereft of goals I feel like with Burger and someone else solid alongside him I feel it's worth the risk.

Midfield 3 of burger Laurent and baker for me tonight, Don't think Baker is a passenger and we looked more solid with him along side Burger

My biggest criticism is that if he doesn't score, he doesn't really do very much else on the pitch.
I'd say that teams also suddenly find the ability to run straight through our midfield when he's on the pitch, but Saturday's goals show that that particular problem is not exclusive to him.

The only goal threat at the club. Simply has to play.

After the Birmingham game he was dropped and I wish somebody could explain why. Up until that point his return was liking having a new player, a new player with a some very rare talents in our team. The rare talents of being able to beat the first man from a corner kick, getting the ball over the wall in a free kick and then being able to keep the ball in play once over the wall and last but not least able to SHOOT the thing outside of the 6 yard area.

Not for me, his time has past, can't remember a player who had good form, lost it and then regained it months later. Just never happens.
Burger Sidibe Bae
For me Start creating a good partnership now for next season

Can't just pick him in the hope he scores, why not?we keep picking forwards who can't score, in the hope they do.

Baker the scapegoat again He got us all 3 points the last time we won. We aren’t scoring enough so why not play someone who can score.

I'd certainly give him a start tonight at 10 with Burger and Pearson or even (Laurent) behind him. We need to score first tonight or it's going to get hostile!

Although goals is a big part, obviously, there's nothing else to his game and given how bad we are atm we can't really carry someone incase we get a free kick. Bae offers nothing, Cundle offers nothing, neither do Thompson, Pearson, Johnson and Laurent. At least Baker’s nothing comes with the chance of a goal. On Saturday, we had about 6 passages of play where we were on the ball around the box and instead just tried to pass it out wide to wingers that can’t beat their man. Then we brought Baker on and had him play next to our centre back 😂 Burger-Bae-Baker is as close to a good balance in our midfield as we can get. Dropping Baker and trying to play Cundle has coincided with our awful run of performances.

The problem is if he’s not scoring he’s a passenger and it’s not like we’ve got enough bottle and fight elsewhere in the team to make up for his shortcomings.
Any combination of Burger, Cundle, Bae, Baker as the midfield three hasn’t really been effective because of the lightweight nature of the latter three and it’s been part of the reason the shite CB’s have been more exposed than they should be and we’ve been leaking goals.
Laurent obviously has his own shortcomings but he does offer more physicality and can impose himself on the game in terms of winning the ball back more than any of Bae, Baker or Cundle.

I think we've some talented footballers and he's bang up there but the problem is we've too many fannies and he's one of them. We really need a no-nonsense center half; a hard as nails center midfielder and a shitehouse up top - we've just got loads of fluffy players instead who're just lost at the moment without that spine.

We’ve got plenty of passengers, at least Baker can find the net.
It’s crazy that he’s been frozen out since Rotherham.
