How often would we shout Gooooooaaaaaallllll? Not often with this lot. I bet I'd manage a record number of 'Storm-Offs' though!

SS: “I need some advice” TP: “do you have any big lads to shore up the defence” SS: “well, there are a few in the U21s that…” TP: “No! What about wingers?” SS: “they don’t really exist anymore”. TP: “Hm, have you considered getting naked and headbutting your best goalscorer?” SS: “……..” TP:”hello?”

No one is really having a pop are they, just calling out the silliness of wanting him to come back every time our backs are up against the wall. It's dull and boring, it pollutes the message board and it probably won't stop until a certain age group who witnessed his era die out. Well, I don't know how old you are but be thankful that you at least got to support this Club in the Prem because of him (If you're indeed old enough to remember that 'cause I'd love to know how many of the youth of today will stick around to support when the Club's languishing in the lower leagues about to go out of business altogether! I started supporting the club in Division 2 and I will support them in League 1. It’s an old fashioned view to want Pulis back, based on old ideas of football. That wasn’t meant to cause offence, we’re all an ode bastard one day.

That wasn’t meant to cause offence, we’re all an ode bastard one day. Fair play BUT I'm not wanting TP back as a Manager. I really think that in spite of any differences in the past even John Coates could do with a bit of mentoring too. I don't know but he didn't look in the greatest of shape in that fans forum interview. This is a hugely stressful, make or break time for the Club and I think some experience and wise words in a few ears wouldn't go amiss. Tony is the obvious choice for me. There's no miracle cure but we need to do something and very quickly. It needs to be someone who knows the ethos of the place and has compassion for it and its people. That way there is at least a small chance of instilling some confidence and pride in to people whilst reminding them what could all be thrown away. It's not about football styles now and then or tactics, it's about people and positive mental attitude. SS is beginning to panic and realise the enormity of this situation. In my opinion he needs some help, calm the nerves, not lose the plot, not chop and change every week. Just really think that Tone could help, if he was willing , behind the scenes.

:D Wotcha Dixo ! I don't know about Grumpy, I'm feckin' LIVID! Can you imagine the bar nowadays after all we've been through?! The Stokief matchday cocktails wouldn't hit the spot now.. it'd be nothing but hard liquor! ;) Mind, Staffsoatcake's probably still wearing those lucky pants in vague hope (probably still on his head) :) I may have to re-open if we drop down. We'll be back to where we started on here without about 35 of us left moaning each week (drum) Health & safety wouldn't let her open again, not after they found my underwear in the oven drying off.😋 The good old days.. We wouldn't cope with these extended opening hours, where would we fit the lock ins?

I don't want to get rid of Schumacher at this stage, but to say TP wouldn't be able to do a job any more because of his age is really too stupid. Has Hodgeson at Palace done too badly, or is Warnock useless in this division? No, I don't think so, but at the moment we probably don't have a single player in our team that Pulis would like to build a team around. Maybe Burger or Pearson, but I guess that's it at best!

Could you imagine anything more condescending or patronising to Schumacher than bringing a retired former manager to advise him? Honestly what planet do people live on? He’d walk out the door on the spot and rightly so. We did that with Kamara and Durban. It didn’t work then and much as I admire TP as our greatest ever manager, it wouldn’t work now.

I'd would love to ask him why he played a weakened team in Valencia, that was the beginning of the end for him in my eyes. I lost all respect for him after that. No need. TP felt we could still go down that season and rested key players eg Crouch for the forthcoming two home games. We won both and stayed up comfortably. We met Radio Stoke correspondent on the beach in Valencia while getting over a hangover from night before and he confirmed this. Exactly, it was well documented at the time.

Has everyone already forgotten that Schumacher has openly stated already he's leant on other managers for advice. Southgate and Ange being two of them I think I read something about his footballing philosophy being similar to Ange's and they spoke quite a lot. It's probably ok playing such high stakes football when you have Spurs' players, but not sure it is with ours! Do you think Ange played a completely different style of football pre-Spurs?

Like him or loathe him is not Tony Pulis exactly what this club needs at the moment?
He would build from the back and get players organised.
If (and it's a very big if as he's pretty much retired) he could be tempted to return for a short stint I would love to see him go through this club like a dose of salts.

I don't particularly like the bloke, but he is exactly what we are missing and have been since Hughes. Then should we hire Hughes and let Pulis get on with his garden...?

Precisely which of the players do you think would suddenly improve under TP? Do you think that Rose and Wilmot will become towering central defenders? Will Vidigal learn to take on his man? Will Mmaee transform into Fuller so that he can play up front on his own? I just don’t get this statement, so I really would like to know what you mean by him coming in and building from the back. Who exactly do you expect to shine in the current squad because of TP?

Why don’t TP and Jordan get on sorry !? Not sure exactly but I think it was something to do with when palace played at stoke and Jordan was chairman. More probably it dates from their falling out when TP managed Palace. He left them very suddenly and unexpectedly, at the start of a season, rumours of rows about expenditure on players being the cause. Palace fans were bereft, because he’d just saved them from relegation the season before. Jordan wasn’t very complimentary about TP’s attitude, as an recall.

Exactly, it was well documented at the time. I remember it well he shit himself and played a weakened side. One of my most deflating moments supporting Stoke. 20hrs it took us on a coach from home, I remember rolling into Valencia and hearing we hadnt even named a full bench. Obviously it doesn't compare to some of the depths we've sunk to, including now, it was just a massive missed opportunity, and a bit of a slap in the face to travelling fans.

It might of been a weakened team but Kenwyne had 2 glorious chances that could of seen us 2 up before they scored. We don't Pulis back we need a DOF who has the same philosophy of the manager it's that simple.

I wonder if the Pulis mafia are like this in day to day life. Missus burns the tea? Fucking get Pulis in he’d get Carl Asaba on the chopping. Kid fails an exam? Replace them, get Pulis in he works ‘aaaard. Car breaks down? Replace it with Pulis he will find you a willing runner. I like to amuse myself imagining them completing their tax return via HMRC online but just putting 'PULIS' in every field.

I am not advocating bringing Pulis back but his knowledge and coaching capability should not be played down .He rarely had the players to play expansively but as a pundit his breadth of knowledge shines through. I would expect within two weeks, Wilmott, Rose and McNally would be better drilled, both full backs would be defending properly and there would be a proper midfield shield. Like him or loathe him, he is one of the best defensive coaches in England, certainly miles ahead of SS on what we have seen. Bringing him in would be strange and not my preference but he is a very good coach and organiser
