Don’t believe there is the same level of hatred between Stoke and Vale and that the derby has lost the intensity from 2006. Even going back to 2005 interest was less intense: 27 August 1995 Port Vale H 0–1 14,283 Were the banning orders for Stoke fans causing disturbances in the home end or for smashing up the away end? There were a lot of arrests before and after the game. I would have to disagree with that. We shifted 3000/4000 tickets in the space of a couple of days for that Under 23s fixture, which clearly shows the appetite for the rivalry is still there. I'm sure the next time we play each other in a league or cup fixture the demand for tickets will be massive and it will be a massive buzz across the city. I think that after the initial novelty wore off there was less interest in the Potteries Derby at the end of the 90’s and beginning of this century. Stoke will always quickly sell thousands for a match at Vale but I don’t think the rivalry endured in the way it ignited in 1989 and reignited in the great season of 1992/93. I doubt the rivalry was ever as intense prior to 1989? Perhaps the intensity of 89/90 and 92/93 seasons will never be replicated? Vale will never have a similar support base or status to Stoke, WBA or Wolves and that probably explains the reason that it cannot endure in the same way,

Well I cant say I have seen anything at all to merit the hysterical reporting on this one, here is what I have seen:
A fat, pissed up female Baggie making a dick of herself on the pitch. A fat, pissed up male Baggie fan falling over and breaking the "no smoking in stadia" rule. A few young Baggies getting excited and jumping onto the pitch to confront a similar section of their own fans. A bald Baggie with a wound on his noggin for apparently punching a copper (unwise decision). A couple of Dingles (arms raised in a non threatening manner) taking a couple of fairy slaps as being escorted out.
Fuck me from the reaction I was expecting a huge scrap in the stands with 200 people, but no, nothing at all to see here.

A fine example of social media at it's very worst here. Some complete and utter sausage filming himself give it the big one in the home end so he can stick it on his Facebook page for a few likes. I hope the police ban the moron for life.

11.45am on a Sunday is pathetic I agree, unearthly hour to go to a game. The early kick off still didn't stop all the trouble though.
