Just back home.
Dreadful all around - Tricky Ricky clearly can't spot a player and needs sacking asap. Not one player he's bought would be sold for a penny more than he's paid for them - although he no doubt has a Powerpoint slide to bamboozle 'the family' otherwise. Schumacher couldn't work out that every team double up on Jack Clarke - especially when Roberts isn't playing.
But to top it, Schumacher saw it fit to allow Gooch a standing ovation from the home fans by subbing him with a couple of minutes to go. Going off slowly milking the ovation from their fans. We were being thumped and he had been ripped apart all game by Clarke was and directly at fault for first 2 goals
Have some humility and self awareness.
Just felt like rubbing it in in your face. Starting to hate Stoke City

I'm also a little concerned that schuey has seen players pissing about on the training ground but then picks them in his starting XI.

The game was gone. It was a nice moment for him. He was clapped off by 41k fans at a club he’s been at since he was a child.

We were all fuming tbh. Gooch was Sunderland’s 12th man today, no wonder he got a standing ovation, he was their best player. Clarke tore him a new one and he gets a bloody standing ovation, claps their fans in a mutual love in. Should be hanging his head in shame. As for Schuey, it was naive. It really pissed me off.

Gooch was hung out to dry , most teams double on Clarke. In fact every time Clarke was one on one with Gooch there was no other Stoke player in the same postcode.

Starting to hate Stoke City Honestly? That’s absolute fucking horseshit. All of Bae Jun-Ho, Burger and Tchamadeu (at least) will be sold for considerable profit. Also, add Gooch to the evergrowing long list of full backs to have been tormented by Jack Clarke, viewed by many as the best winger in the league. All this is getting a bit insane on the back of a couple of defeats.

Don't know why Gooch made it so hard for himself, Clarke comes inside off the left, nine times out of ten,and he then rolls the ball across to the right of our penalty area where Thompson had gone a wall, time and time again Thompson is not a fullback, both fullbacks cost us the goals,as much as the forwards cost us the game again!!

Get the number 2 on fella. Clarke is top drawer for this level and you could deal with him with ease. You’re wasted.

If you stop Clarke you stop Sunderland, it really is that simple and that is usually achieved by doubling up on him. They didn’t have a recognised striker on the pitch (some might argue that we didn’t either!) and yet we concede 3, looking wide open and vulnerable all afternoon. Yet again missed chances & pathetic defending cost us.

If you double up on Clarke from the off you’re diverting resources from attack to defence from the off and the chances we had at 0-0 probably don’t come. Stick one of those away and you’re probably looking at a different game. Once you’re behind the defenders have got to win their 1 on 1’s or else you’re just in damage limitation and hoping for a break. Gooch lost his 1 on 1 and Thompson wasn’t even there to contest his.

Two valid opinions I guess. I just think that if you stop Clarke, you stop Sunderland and then you frustrate the already irate home support who were looking for any excuse to turn against the manager and we blew it.

Some right weapons supporting this club thinking giving shit to a player online makes them look good

It’s a shame he’s had to come out and say this. He had a tough game against one of the best wingers in the league and had limited support. He’s not a world beater but from what I have seen I wouldn’t ever question his commitment and determination. One of the things I hate about social media is the ease of being able to abuse people. Hopefully Gooch doesn’t think we all feel the same as a few of our fellow “supporters”

Some right weapons supporting this club thinking giving shit to a player online makes them look good What moron can’t see that a midfielder playing as a fullback is going to leave you exposed, especially against the best wingers in the league? SS took a risk and probably hoped that Gooch could provide more going forwards than he’d give up going backwards. He didn’t. However, not one of our available players could have done better. To blast the guy who still put everything into the game but was simply outmatched, is ridiculous. That said, I also think that you have to be a special type of stupid to use social media if you are famous.

He’s been one of our better signings and certainly gives 100% every time he plays, he just got hung out to dry at the weekend. Clarke is one of those most managers double up on to negate the oppositions biggest threat. I like Schumacher but it was poor not see this from the start. Gooch is just filling in at right back really because Hoever has been so poor

I made the point that we should have doubled up on Clarke..stop him you stop Sunderland. He’s a quality winger At this level but reading some of the comments you would think we were up against Sir Stan. He’s decent & Gooch got absolutely ripped to pieces. I maintain the view that if we’d frustrated them on Saturday the home crowd were desperate to turn on their manager and we missed the opportunity to turn up the heat.

Gooch is just filling in at right back really because Hoever has been so poor I was quite surprised at how exposed Gooch was. I expected more support for him with Lleris on the right as well. Totally agree about Gooch, I love his energy on the right hand side when we are looking for urgency. It’s such a shame to see how we are calling players out all the time. Whilst Baker was injured he was “shite”, he scored against Rotherham and suddenly he was one of our best midfielders, now he’s back to being a “nothing player” and we should sell him. Some fans need to give their heads a wobble
