Surprised nobody has pointed out his comments related to the simple messages and trying not to overcomplicate things. That's key for me and I think it's something that we've fallen foul to most with previous managers. Trying to be too intricate and constantly chopping and changing to suit the opposition. Football really is a simple game. And footballers generally are very simple people. So the less complicated you make the message the better. Crouchy talked about this with Harry Redknapp. Palacios was just told "get the ball. Find modric". Rafa tried some complicated stuff and it sounded like his eyes glazed over.

I’m going with cautious optimism, which is monumental as I think when you follow us default pessimism brings safety. Something akin to the first fart where you don’t leave a trace, following a prolonged bout of diarrhoea. Pictures with words...

Delighted for you and your family that he's got his first win. Must be a nightmare having a family member managing your club. It's far from being a nightmare mate. We're incredibly proud and excited. I'm nervous just watching Stoke , let alone being related to the manager

Football really is a simple game. Definitely what struck a chord with me and more so now we have a lot of young lads from overseas who are still no doubt coming to terms with the language. The season started well under Neil ( well 2 games ) then that early defeat at Ipswich seemed to cause him to shit his pants and since then was constantly chopping and changing. Again ,I know there will be ups and downs but what this guy has managed in a week with 2 games in quick succession is damn impressive, especially after a very shaky 1st half against Millwall.

I liked that one of the first things he brought up was not keeping a clean sheet. Priorities.

I told you all that he was a fantastic man manager. He was buzzing after the game and is completely aware of where we need to improve. Nearly pissed myself when he said 'defo'. Just shows he's one of the lads, who knows his shit. Long may this continue 🙏 Yep, you called it, he's got my vote

Don't know if it's only me, but he has that look about him that says he will get what he wants and don't mess with me.l think he may well be a good signing for us.

Just shows he's one of the lads, who knows his shit. Long may this continue 🙏 Good to hear from you Fish and even better to hear from a down to earth, likeable, straight talking, authentic Stoke manager (Head Coach whatever!) a real breath of fresh air. I loved his comment about not having had too much time on the training ground so far but he has communicated the “non negotiationable’s” That tells me everything! I hope Schuyy knows that we need to re sign Travers and get Souttar in on loan…highly unlikely but that’s what we need for starters!!! UTP!

And it's so refreshing to hear Steven Schumacher saying that. Yep football really is a simple game.

Speaks so well, as one of the team rather than the baseless, arrogant schoolmaster that Neil was. He'll have support in spades with that attitude. He was captain at times here at Stevenage - Watched him play many times and he lead the team very well through the uncertainty that Teddy Sherringham's time as manager brought. That certainly feeds well into his man management skills at Stoke too.

Down to earth, understands where we are at and what we need to do.
He’s very likeable.

Early days yet, but this seems like the best appointment our board have made in Years;
we've waited for so long for the right person
everything about this feels good, optimistic - there's definitely a certain something about our new Head Coach
the pre or post match interviews will now, thankfully, be worth listening to -
with some added humour ... and that gleam in his eye.
Happy Days up ahead for us Potters

I’m uncomfortable.
It’s all too positive. I’m not sure I’ve seen such a uniform wave of positivity on this board. Ever.
Pulis divided fans. Even Hughes did. And he was a miserable bastard at the best of times. We won’t even mention the ones who have followed them.
Can’t think of any manager who united the fans apart from Macari. And he took a while to get there.
So, forgive my pessimism, but this feels too easy. The test will be when we play poorly, get hammered and/or have players throwing their toys out of the pram. I’m reserving judgement for at least another month or two.
That said, he seems to be doing a fantastic job so far…

That said, he seems to be doing a fantastic job so far… Just wait for that first loss, probably against Watford as that’s a really tough fixture, the knives will be out. I think he’s a great choice for manager, things look really positive. He’s got some work to do but I don’t think AN left the squad in as bad of a shape as some on here make out, we signed some real quality in the summer and couldn’t replace the whole team in one window. If Schumacher can add a couple in January and get them playing as a team then things will look very promising. If he has a tough start though I’m sure many of us will stick with him, it’s 3 windows minimum for any manager for me.
