I take the point it is hard to pick somewhere given the depths to which we’ve fallen why I mean is it’s obvious we’re a poisoned chalice hence why we have have to take pints on the like of SS. He seems a decent bloke. I hope he proves me wrong. But with our millions and the ambition we should have we should pushing for better. As I’ve said excellent today though

Too much change at this club, need to stick with him. Need to buy Souttar and Coady from Leicester and a good striker we'll be fine.

There's some names we're not seeing tonight, or won't be seeing until next season (or ever again because it'll mean we're doing well under Schumacher). Imagine being unable to give him even the tiniest bit of credit for today. He isn't perfect, he's made mistakes but he's somehow dragged this mess of a squad to 50 points. Today was absolutely brilliant. Not bad for a bloke who's a coward, out of his depth, looks lost, etc etc. Where's Bayern et al? They love it when we lose.

Deffo stick with him he will have learnt alot from this season, we can't keep changing managers when it's not needed he deserves a full pre season bringing in the type of players he wants.

He's obviously a very talented coach to take this bunch of misfits and get them playing some really good football together because it wasn't long ago they looked nothing like a team.
He gets questioned a lot about making changes but for me I don't care for that, the Championship isn't a division where most players can't play twice a week every week. Some players are built to run and run whilst others take longer to recover so rotation is always going to happen in this division.
The question is Are the players improving under him? Because this is where we will start to see progress as a team
For me I think they are improving. He's done more for these players in just a few months than AN did in his whole time here.
The Southampton game will be interesting because with a week to prepare we could go there and give them a really good game. We aren't safe just yet so it would be nice to go there and put on a performance and maybe get something from the game. Hopefully Wednesday lose today so that we have a little less pressure on us. Southampton still have a slim chance of automatic promotion so I would expect they will put out their strongest team. When Schumacher has had time to prepare for the opposition we have normally been decent, Southampton will be a tough ask as they have a lot of quality but it will be a good test for him.

The formation was right and his selection choices that raised eyebrows worked out well and set us up to play on the front foot, play to our strengths, and ultimately win the match. But I’ve still lost faith in Schumacher given how many times he’s made tactical and selection decisions that have essentially done the opposite. He deserves credit for yesterday but if he gets credit after his decisions bear fruit he also deserves holding to account for times his decisions negatively impact us, and the latter has happened more than the former in his tenure so far. That’s not an unreasonable opinion, so it’s a shame that sensible debate gets stifled by snide backbiting and suggestions that certain posters want to see the team fail, which is obviously nonsense.

Must admit that when I saw the starting line up yesterday I nearly stayed in the pub.
I’m not a SS fan due to some of the drivel he has served up, Swansea away, Norwich at home etc….
But credit where it’s due, He got it right yesterday when he needed to. 3-0 is a very comfortable win in this league so let’s hope we can build on it & make a good account of ourselves in the final 2 games of the season.

I take the point it is hard to pick somewhere given the depths to which we’ve fallen I don't think anyone was going to turn us around quickly. Too big a mess to sort out. I think he has us on an even keel now and I'm hopeful I've seen enough to suggest he can get something out of this squad with a few outgoings and incomings over the summer. Having completed mission 1, ie survival, his next target should be top 10 next season...

He's starting to turn our rickety ship.
Since Middlesbrough to yesterday (10 games) We have averaged 1.5 points per game. With only Norwich and Swansea where we really were shite. There has been clear improvement now, over a longer period.
He's got my full backing (not that he ever didnt) to push us forwards. Gooaarn Schuey.

That was more like the style of football I expect from Schu yesterday, the most enjoyable home game for ages. Was he right to compromise his philosophies and produce some of the dross we’ve seen recently, was he given a choice, was it just a necessary evil and can he find a balance between the two and know when to employ them. Lots of questions for the guy but I always thought our situation and ineptitude had forced him to go against his nature and something better was possible from him in the future. Can’t say I expected to see it yesterday but it really really pleased me, that’s the sort of football I want to watch on a regular basis.

I have enjoyed more games under Schuey this season than under Neil. Hopefully with a few additions to the squad we can play more like yesterdays performance and enjoy watching players attacking instead of the backwards sideways passing game we have been used to watching under the last two previous managers.

We’ve actually bedded in some really promising players in this god awful season.

15 points from the last 10 games is not too shabby by any metric for a club in our position with a coach who supposedly hasn’t a clue!

'Out of his depth'? - Remains to be seen and I would argue he certainly did 'look lost' in some of his post match interviews in recent weeks. However, calling SS a 'coward' is completely out of order but given the post originated from the ultimate keyword warrior on this board, it's no real surprise. Bet he wouldn't call him out like that face to face.

This. 100%. Yesterday he got it right and deserves credit for that. But he has not got it right enough times in his tenure as Stoke City manager. For me, the next two games are an audition for whether we stick with him next season. Two more abject performances and strange set-ups and I still think we should be looking elsewhere.

I completely agree with you. Except: “it’s a shame that sensible debate gets stifled by snide backbiting and suggestions that certain posters want to see the team fail” From what I can see it’s the opposite. The sensible debate is made impossible by the suggestion that many posters are ‘happy clappers’ and happy to settle for shite. I’ve seen absolutely nobody say Schumacher has been a total success. But I’ve seen several say (and repeatedly so) that he’s been an unmitigated disaster. Not only that, he’s been called a fraud, a coward and incompetent. It’s hard to have sensible debate when that’s the level of crap being spouted.
