Woukdnt be my first choice but woukd rather have him than Neil Think we are out of his commutable range though He has managed WBA & Coventry so he has travelled for work beyond Stoke, not that I'm in anyway advocating him coming Stoke however 🫣😬[/quote When he left Blackburn in 2022 i seem to recall him saying he was only interested in jobs that were commutable from his Teesside home I coukd be wrong though

That's my experience aswell mate and they are unbearable. I wasn't referring to Topcat in particular but his comment about them finishing above us last season did it for me. That's the first time since 2012 they've finished above us but in their heads there are far better than clubs like little old Stoke. My comment about league positions was in direct response to being goaded about watching us being "dross" I don't really pay attention to other clubs. I honestly couldn't tell you what attendances you, Leicester, Leeds or Rotherham get. It's of no interest to me. Are we allowed to be proud of us averaging 31k across the 4 turgid seasons in league one? Is it a good stat to hear we have the 9th highest attendance in the country despite last season being the 1st good one in about 10 years? Absolutely. Does it define us as a club? Absolutely not. Maybe it says more about other teams and their inferiority complexes - we as football fans seem fixated on how many people turn up to watch a game of football. Even the clown in charge of Newcastle a few years ago stated they would always have "one more seat than Sunderland" as if it matters I can't speak for all Sunderland fans, and as with every fanbase we have our percentage of dickheads, but the people I know are generally level headed about the club and where we are right now in the world of football. Anyway. This is your forum, not mine so I'll get on my way and leave you all to it. Good luck for the season Hardly goading you was I mate. I said it with a winky face at the end clearly showing it was said in jest. They probably will always get better crowds whilst they are in the premier league if truth be told. You have more than your fair share of fans who think they are superior to other clubs mate. Look at some of the shit your fans came out with when Neil left you for us. Things like 'why would anyone go to a shit club like Stoke from us' and 'they only get half a stadium of fans why would he leave us for that'. I think alot of your fans probably choose to ignore the fact that managers and players go to the clubs with the most money and despite how shit we are our owners have a lot of it. Same to you mate good luck with the season until you play us ofcourse 👍

So you'd take Mowbray over Neil - what drugs are some of you on? Right now, I can't think of many I wouldn't take over Neil. Has Tony Mowbray done a better job since last August than Alex Neil? Hands down. Seems to have a knack of dropping on a striker and getting them firing reminiscent of Lou in that respect.

Be a bit of a coup if they got Still. He's the flavour of the month Difficult to judge unless you watch lige1. It all looks a bit low scoring. Only 2 teams have scored a decent amount of goals. Got to say I’ve never heard of him.

He's the flavour of the month JC hasnt the bollocks to go for someone like him after his fuck up appointing Jones We’ve appointed 1 up and coming young coach that failed and a whole bunch of dour more experienced coaches that have failed. Why is one experience so much more psychologically damaging than several. Don’t get me wrong I’m not disagreeing just trying to fathom the mentality that leads a person to that position.

Looks like he's said previously he's open to the Championship. Definitely worth adding to our prospective list if he doesn't go there

The more I think about it, the more open I am to Mowbray being our next manager, a steady hand whose teams have an identity to rally behind and has had success at this level, that said, so has Alex Neil..

You know as well as I and the rest of us do mate, that it quite simply is too adventurous an appointment for us. The failure in chasing QSF and the Jones disaster will have put John off for life, when it really shouldn't be like that. We will end up with someone in the ilk of Dean Smith and happily trudge along from 16th to 11th every season under a 'safe pair of hands', who will be no doubt be replaced every other year as it turns out they actually weren't quite as safe a pair of hands as we'd like. Foreign or young up and coming managers are simply off the table because the club will no longer have the bollocks to make a left field appointment. And it saddens me that that's the case.

I’ve always got the feeling that he absolutely despises our club so regardless of whether we’d want him I’m absolutely certain he would never come here. I doubt he despises the club he despises the football he associates with the club. Can’t say I blame him personally and I’m a lifelong Stoke fan. Really?! What he despised was that each and every time his soft arsed, tippy tappy team were out fought, out manoeuvred, out witted and quite frankly out played by TP’s Legends. That is what Mowbray despised and I for one loved every fucking minute of it. I could give a toss what the mumbling bumbling Tony Mowbray thinks of us. And just for the record, I don’t want to see him anywhere near our club…..just saying!

Maybe not but TP certainly managed to keep a completely in fancied team in the Prem very comfortably and laid the foundations for a decade in the top league… whereas W Brom ……went straight back down, yoyoing as they went…you are a Stoke fan I take it? Championing Tony fucking Mowbray over Tony Pulis seems pretty bizarre to me.

Why I probably liked Pulis even less than Mowbray did. I was extremely glad both times he got fucked off. Sad Is it? A large section of our fans could never stand the bloke but to you who loved him he’s suddenly become the identity of the club. I’m afraid that’s what happens when such a decisive character becomes your identity, many will just refuse to buy into it.

I vaguely remember Mowbray, when he was at West Brom, saying he'd rather get relegated than play like Stoke under Pulis. He got them relegated and left.
West Brom fan Frank Skinner said he'd rather we played like Stoke and stay up.

Him and Waddington are our best 2 managers ever. Fact 😆 🤣
