I think the club hierarchy will be praying that we avoid defeat in at least one of the 2 upcoming home games, lose won and the pressure would be immense and be difficult to avoid making a big decision.

Not one Sunderland fan would ever think that. We aren't Newcastle, we don't have delusions of grandeur Not convinced. I think you do, as I think we do, as I think most clubs / fans in this league do. 20 out of 24 clubs feel they should be in the top 6. More flies to drop. I can state quite clearly and without delay that Sunderland are not "the biggest most massive club in the world" nor do we have "the mostest fans ever in the world ever" We are a big club, but that term has always been subjective - it doesn't just mean having a big stadium and lots of fans. That didn't do us many favours in League One. We don't state that we "deserve" to be in the PL/CL/Super League like a certain club 12 miles north of us. There is far more humility at our club than you will find at others. As for feeling we should be in the top 6 (which is a massive departure from claiming to be the biggest/massive club etc etc) then yeah absolutely. We finished 6th last season, so why not this? FWIW I think we'll finish 10th, with more points than last season. Which - for me - is progress. I have no overwhelming desire to be in the PL right now

I’ve always got the feeling that he absolutely despises our club so regardless of whether we’d want him I’m absolutely certain he would never come here. I doubt he despises the club he despises the football he associates with the club. Can’t say I blame him personally and I’m a lifelong Stoke fan.

Stoke are now the only club in the current bottom 7 to stand firm & not to make some kind of managerial change. Blind faith by the owners or a potential master stroke I wonder? 🫣 The current spell would certainly rule out the latter right now. & interestingly both Swansea & Sunderland have both sacked managers yesterday when their managers have marginally better records than AN 🙄😬 It just beggars belief. Neil and Mowbray started their jobs at the same time. Mowbray duly took Sunderland to the playoffs (even winning the first leg against eventual winners Luton) and his time at Sunderland is 50% in combined wins and draws, having spent little and losing both Simms and Stewart from his strike force. Even now, they are only 3 points off the playoffs. His reward for that was to be shown the door. Meanwhile in Mordor, Neil has accumulated a quite shocking 38% win and draw rate with drab, aimless football, despite having fully brought in his own players over the summer. The season is in tatters, yet somehow he still conspires to remain in a job as I write this. To think there were some on here threatening to go and support Hanley Town if we'd recruited Mowbray!

Latest odds John Eustace 5/1 Steven Schumacher 5/1 Nathan Jones 8/1 Frank Lampard 12/1 Kevin Muscat 12/1 Lee Carsley 12/1 Paul Heckingbottom 12/1 Fuck me what a depressing list that is, ever likely we're clinging onto the hope that AN will come good. Gouranga.

Not a great deal of humility around that night or in the aftermath. Perhaps I just met the wrong Mackems.

Like you I must have met the wrong one's because the one's I've met are without doubt some of the worst football fans I've ever come across. Proper delusions of grandeur and arrogant beyond belief.

Very touchy aren't you pal it was a joke. I wouldn't brag about last season too much though as that's the first time since 2012 you've finished above us. Not brilliant for the biggest most massive club in the world with the mostest fans ever in the world ever is it 😉 Not one Sunderland fan would ever think that. We aren't Newcastle, we don't have delusions of grandeur Not saying you do mate as you seem to be level headed but a hell of alot of your fans look down on a lot of clubs because of your attendances and things you have won in the past. You are right about Newcastle aswell mate I agree. It must be a North East thing.

Sable seems to be the obvious one if they're looking for a young foreign manager. There's a lot of talk on the Sunderland forums about him, which is probably why he's coming in towards favourite.

So you'd take Mowbray over Neil - what drugs are some of you on? Mowbray actually implements the "front-foot, attacking football" AN failed to deliver to us. He absolutely despises us, wouldn’t happen in a million years surely. This is the reason he'll never consider us. Not that we like him either, he's as bad a whinger as Wenger.

That's the first time since 2012 they've finished above us but in their heads there are far better than clubs like little old Stoke. My comment about league positions was in direct response to being goaded about watching us being "dross" I don't really pay attention to other clubs. I honestly couldn't tell you what attendances you, Leicester, Leeds or Rotherham get. It's of no interest to me. Are we allowed to be proud of us averaging 31k across the 4 turgid seasons in league one? Is it a good stat to hear we have the 9th highest attendance in the country despite last season being the 1st good one in about 10 years? Absolutely. Does it define us as a club? Absolutely not. Maybe it says more about other teams and their inferiority complexes - we as football fans seem fixated on how many people turn up to watch a game of football. Even the clown in charge of Newcastle a few years ago stated they would always have "one more seat than Sunderland" as if it matters I can't speak for all Sunderland fans, and as with every fanbase we have our percentage of dickheads, but the people I know are generally level headed about the club and where we are right now in the world of football. Anyway. This is your forum, not mine so I'll get on my way and leave you all to it. Good luck for the season
